Aggregate (hardcore) DoP

    Hi All,

    I have a civil works project on site and have carried out independent tests on the total sulphur and acid soluble sulphate in hardcore (below floor use).

    The tests results show the material complies with our specification and SR21; however, the results show a higher content of sulphate than stated on the manufacturer's Declaration of Performance (DoP).

    The manufacturer is testing the material regularly, I have other test certificates, but I think they have given the results of an individual test on the DoP. Would I be right in thinking they should specify a range on the DoP as opposed to exact figures?

    At the minute I have a product that complies with the engineering specification and SR21 but not the DoP.

    Any thoughts?

    Quarries often spread over hundreds of acres. 4 times per year the quarry takes a 25kg sample bag for testing. From that bag they take a piece the size of your thumbnail for petrographic testing which is deemed representative of the site..

    If you test site samples, which I often do fir large/important projects, and encounter results higher than the limits recommended within SR21 then you have right to be concerned. If however its higher than the wuarry test, but still below the limit, then what's the problem..
