The problem is that women are dying from back street abortions.

The solution is the WHO says unsafe abortions in Ireland don't happen.

And why do you think that is?
Nothing to do with the thousands going to the uk no?

I think it's because it would be a very fookin stupid thing to do.

I am fortunate that I have the means, and the support, that if I needed to travel, I could.

If I did not, I would do whatever I had to to end the pregnancy.

It is not ok that we can happily maintain the "moral" high ground in Ireland because the financially stable can go elsewhere, and **** the poor.

and here was me thinking that abortion is the same as killing babies was the hard sell...

You just need to find someone who can't understand facts and they'll happily buy it.

Why would you say they're idiots? They're desperate. They cannot afford to travel for an abortion, which is a pretty good sign that they can't afford to raise a baby, wouldn't you say?

I think that (his) post is frankly disgusting.

I can't help but think of that time the Christian Solidarity Party cackled about a woman dying after an abortion.

So what you're saying it should be means tested?

So it's ok once they don't know they're being destroyed?

They don't know, because they don't yet exist as a sentient being.

What is the value of a person. is it the DNA, or is it the thinking, feeling individual who has feelings, hopes and dreams and relationships with others.

When a brain is damaged so that it is no longer capable of thought, that person is dead. When a brain hasn't developed enough to have even rudimentary consciousness, then that person does not yet exist.

The human cells exist, but we are not just our cells, we are our minds.

No. I probably would have used the phrase "means tested" at some point if that's what I had meant...

Indo rag nonsense - only the claims of the conference organiser to go on, no comment from the hotel, no link to this supposed Facebook page etc. etc. That which is asserted without evidence may be dismissed without evidence.

Hey it makes a change from them habitually stoking the property market.. Its a bit of a shameless rag

The above map says it doesn't to any degree worth considering. Is it not you that's in the Nile?

I am fortunate that I have the means, and the support, that if I needed to travel, I could.

    That's pretty disturbing.

The ability to go elsewhere shouldn't matter. If some people can afford to travel, they will. The ones that can't won't. Should I feel sorry for them?

The value of a human life is all (mostly) to themselves, not for your judgement.

We can argue about the poor experiences of some of those who resided in mother and baby homes just like we argue about the poor experiences of some of those who have undergone abortions.

However you can't argue that mothers were abandoned once they gave birth.
Unfortunately there are thousands of those experiences we will never get to hear because they either mysteriously died and got chucked in unmarked graves or a septic tank, or they got sold to the highest bidder, often abroad, not knowing where they came from. Unlike women undergoing abortions, I doubt many of those women knew the risks/dangers/neglect involved and willingly wanted to go to them, do you?

Imagine how disturbing it would be if it wasn't just something you don't agree with on the internet, and was actually happening to you.

Well I won't be having a home abortion so don't need to worry about that.

There is no 'self' to an embryo or fetus. Self has yet to develop, it doesn't exist yet.

This was a response to my statement referring to abortions procured by Irish citizens, who are forced to travel to the uk
Are you claiming that does not happen?

In which case I genuinely believe people have started to breed with vegetables now.

Self does exist, and is protected by the constitution here.

No, and I never said anything close to that.
