"Superfly", Usyk v Huck, Benavidez etc etc

Can't wait for Estrada v Cuadras. Fight of the year potential. Reckon Estrada pips it on points.

Reckon Gonzalez wins in a similar fight to the first one. Hopefully rightfully gets the nod this time. He won the first fight imo. Hopefully sets up Gonzalez v Inoue early next year.

Huck is shot to pieces but I think he might go the distance. Usyk has got **** all power. Wouldn't be surprised to see a late stoppage though.

David Benavidez on tonight is always good value for a highlight reel stoppage. Looking forward to catching up with that in the morning.

Best two weeks boxing has had in a long long time with GGG-Canelo next week. Can't wait.

World Boxing Super Series starts, the SuperFly card is one of the best cards ever...young Benavidez fighting for his little piece of history and looks a massive superstar prospect. Inoue, Gonzalez, Estrada, all top 10 p4p worthy, Cuadras not too far off...Golovkin/Canelo around the corner...Usyk one of the most technically sound and fluid big fighters in many a year and potential future HW champ...and people say Boxing is dying. Meanwhile another UFC card has been botched by one way or another. Hon The Sweet Science.

I watched Benavidez's fight with Medina last night again....although Porky had a Gatti like defence, those combinations are special:

It's a shame he didn't sign up for the WBSS himself although I think I read somehwere where he said they were offered it but chose to go down a different route.

Looking forward to the next couple of weeks boxing, have some time to myself so going to enjoy it:) I'm in Manchester for canelo v ggg, so if anyone has any tips on somewhere to watch it to save me using my phone.
Also Burial, I wouldn't bother mentioning UFC, it will just start a merry go round debate here we don't want to see, good boxing ahead :)

Apparently Benavidez only scraped by last night...got knocked down in the 12th as well. I'll have to give it a watch later.

Ya, he didn't look great at times, gassed at the end too. Gavril was better than expected too (for me at least).

For tonight, I'm thinking Usyk by decision, Huck is just too clever and experienced to get stopped imo, and Usyk doesn't have knockout power unless it's a late stoppage. Usyk should have too much skill to lose though. I'm thinking Gonzelez to beat Rungvisai via decision. Gonzalez isn't knocking anyone out at 115 and Rungvisai can take a punch anyway. Inoue should be knocking Nieves out within a few rounds really.

Cuadras - Estrada is the difficult one, I'm leaning Estrada but could go either way. I just expect it to be a war

Since ITV aren't showing it live is there anywhere else we can watch the Usyk fight and at what time is it?
(Not asking for illegal streams btw..)

WBSS have just announced they're streaming it on their site:

    https://worldboxingsuperseries.com/

No real indication on exact countries that'll get it. Assuming they'll broadcast to the UK (surely?) they should include us too? I registered anyway...

Isaiah Thomas looks like a lad who doesn't want to be a boxer. Ridiculous cautious and negative boxing.

Benavidez lost that fight, I had Gavril up by at least 2 rounds. He's not a great boxer and we be found out against top level fighters in the class.

I like Estrada over Cuadras, I can see the fight going the distance and Estrada taking it on points.

I feel Gonzalez will win but 'Is that really enough'? I also believe he won the first fight but it officially took his undefeated record, his belt and his pound for pound crown. I want to see a brutal KO win for Gonzalez, He has to make a statement. I want to see him call out Inoue too after, enough of this humble little christian boy crap, It's time to see some fckin Cojones for a change.

Inoue will smash Nieves. This guy is an animal, KO victory here.

Watching The Huck fight live now. Robert Byrd is busy again.

    1st round narrowly to Usyk
Great 2nd Rd. I give it to Huck
Usyk takes the 3rd, Almost dropped him, appeared to hold back.
    Usyk takes the 4th
    Usyk wins the 5th.
    Missed Rd 6,7and 8
    Close 9th, maybe narrowly Usyk
Usyk wins by TKO in round 10

Usyk in cruise control. Huck trying the sneaky stuff and gets punished. Decent scrap though.

Deciding to work with Old Man Lomachenko paying its dividends. Looking sharper and more aggressive.

Very good fight, Action packing stuff.
Usyk with the 10th round TKO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,153 ✭✭✭✭normanoffside

I was lucky to have another 'stream' set up when the official one went down.

Good fight. Huck is hard. Usyk is slick and extremely fit.

Byrd was a lot quicker to stop this one than he was two weeks ago!

    Good performance by Usyk.

I hope Huck calls it a day now. He has given huge entertainment in his career and has nothing to prove.

Speaking of Perez, Abdusalamov and his family got a $22m settlement. Obviously no figure will make up for it, but it's something I guess...hopefully it can maybe tame any lasting demons in Mike from it too. He'll need the fight of his life against Briedis.

Usyk brilliant. Will take some beating.

I don't for one second see the narrative that he'll go on to wipe out the heavyweight division though. I think he'd get beat easy by most of the top heavy's. Hasn't got the power to keep them off.

Yea I saw that earlier online. Horrible situation. At least the money will help pay for his health care and provide for his wife and family. As you say hopefully Perez can take some closure form this and continue to persue his own careers

I think it would depend on the Heavyweight he was facing. Should Hughie Fury win a world title, that would be someone that I'd fancy Usyk to beat. Maybe the same for Parker.

Agreed. Reckon he'd box the head off of Parker actually. I think Hughie will set the blue print for that in two weeks.

Usyk gets pummelled by likes of Joshua, Wilder, Ortiz.

    You fancy Hughie against Parker?
Big time. Think he'll outbox Parker on the outside and win clear on points.

Chocolatito exposed again delighted after the interview Kellerman done with rungvisai last time it was a disgrace.

I'd say I wasn't alone in expecting Chocolatito to possibly avenge the defeat, but that was something else from Rungvisai. Took the lead from the first bell. To stop Gonzalez in 4 rounds is something nobody would have thought possible until this year. Fair play to him. Has serious power and exciting to watch aswell.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Burial.

Gutted for Gonzalez but Superfly just a division too far for the lad. Fine performance by the Thai lad though, very impressive to dismantle an all time great like that. Cuadras Estrada was a belter as expected, had the same score as the judges but a draw or a point for Cuadras would have been fine. And Inoue was Inoue.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 730 ✭✭✭Eyes Down Field

Wow. Gonzalez is done. I used to be a fan of this guy, defended him when others said he wasn't a great fighter,

    It's over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,928 ✭✭✭Morrison J

Gonzales simply an all time great. Such a shame he's going out the way he is. Nothing to do with his ability getting exposed or anything like that just simply too small for super fly unfortunately.

    This x 100.

Such nonsense to say a 4-weight world champion who has beaten a slew of excellent fighters and finally gets beaten at the end of his career by an obviously bigger man as he approaches 50 fights has been "exposed". Christ where do you start with a comment like that?

All time great my ass, he got whooped first time then iced in a rematch by some lad that belongs in Lumpini stadium get a grip guys, you believed the hype when he was in a division of bums clammering to name him p4p.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Burial.

Division of bums LOL get back to the MMA forum. Flyweight has been for a long time the most competitive division in Boxing. Gonzalez is unquestionably one of the greatest small guy fighters of all time. Technically he's near perfect as well. He battled hard to get the win against Cuadras at Superfly where it was clear his power was not on the level at lower weights...that coupled with age, I mean at 30 most small guys are finished, became his undoing. His trainer dying a while back obviously a blow too.

I give him credit for daring to be great in 4 divisions but people like Duran, Sugar Ray, Chavez and Manny are true greats of boxing with wins in different weight divisions themselves hes just not deserving of being mentioned with them.

This looks like the classic case of "I know next to nothing about this non-English speaker and absolutely ZERO about any of his opponents, so how can anybody claim him to be great". Then the clincher where you throw in a few names of the absolute elite boxers of all time which shows how knowledgable you are.

Your opinion is based on how little you know, not the fighter's actual credentials - two completely different things.

Name the best fighter hes beaten please outside of Cuadras? I dont follow the lower weight divisions much tbh but I know they guys hes knocked out his career are mainly muck,

I named All time greats because thats who they are and people on here tried to add him to that list, its an absolute insult to them.
