    Questions Re Repair Work.

    Hi Fergal....

I lost a key with a number and letter on it such as 2e on it. How might i go about replacing it?

The inboard fuel tank is full of water. Any idea how i might drain it?
I had not bailed it in 3 weeks and i noticed it was sitting diagonally right with the bow almost touching the water. She also pulls to the right while steering.

She is taking on water and i noticed some bubbles while bailing it out. (simple fiberglass repair job?

The key is a quicksilver mercury you can pick one up on amazon or ebay https://www.amazon.com/Mercury-Marine-Outboard-Replacement-Ignition/dp/B003901MYG I'm sure Marine parts direct could also get one in for you.

If you don't have a drain plug you might have to pump or syphon it out you might be able to get in through the fuel sender hole to dry it out, if you don't already have one fit an in line water separator to collect any water missed.

If she is taking on water lift her out to find the leak you will have to dry out the fibreglass before you can repair it, she might be holding water in a chamber somewhere making her pull to the right.

If you remove the ignition switch and bring it to a good locksmith, they should be able to cut you a new key. If so, her two cut!
I had the same issue with a fuel tank and drained it by removing the sender unit from the top of the tank and pumped everything out using a small pump mounted in an electric drill. Available from most tool shops. Fix a piece of pipe/stick or anything straight and hard to the hose going into the tank so you can get it right down into the deepest part of the tank, into corners etc.
And fit a new water separator if the engine has one. No harm to clean out the fuel lines while you're at it.
No doubt fergal will chime in.
