I have a 22yr old cousin coming over from the states for two weeks in October. What tourist thing should I bring her to? It is her first time outside of the states.

Show her some real Irish culture. Coppers on a sunday night.

Walk through Temple Bar, enjoy the ambience but don't drink there. There are plenty of pubs within a 2-3 minute walk that are similar but not rip offs in relativity.

The Greystones-Bray cliff walk is also a great way to spend a couple of hours, along with Killiney hill

A run across the Reeks in Kerry.

No idea if that suits, but you're not giving much away in the ol' location and interests thing!

I'd imagine a 22yr old amurican won't give a shíte about touristy things.

Give her the wifi code and she'll be fine in her room for the two weeks.

    Get her to join Boards.

Im having a Boards Beers at my house that weekend. You can give her an invite...just her though, not you.

I'll have her back by Monday.

Better off bringing her places. I think I will bring her to London for a few days

You snubbed ideas because you are in the west but now you might take her to London.

This is why nobody on boards gives proper answers to anything.

Bring her to Mayo. That will get her to go back home.

If anyone posted "Bring her to London", in response to "What is there to do in Ireland", they'd have the piss ripped out of them.

    As you're about to.

Boring. Would you not hike to Macchu Picchu? Or how about exploring Angkor Wat? Or Uluru?

As its her first time outside of the states, she'll have to do Europe. Definitely Kraków, Rome, Ballinrobe and London. Wouldn't bother with Dublin.

Will she be looking for the shift? I'll be in Headford mid October if it's any good.

    She's 22.

Send her off to Faint in Sligo.

Pack her off to Galway to get pissed and end up in Electric.

Abandon her in Westport with 50 quid and a tin whistle.

Ship her to Cork, with Google Translate.

March up to Belfast, and introduce her to Witherspoons.

    It's not difficult.

Cute oul yank one. Arriving when the turf is mostly brought in. No fools them.

Get her weeding or something. Don't leave her idle.

Go wheelbarrow racing around Eyre Square. Then for a bit of culture go and see a West End play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,095 ✭✭✭✭cena

Would bringing her to a farm and milk a cow be a stupid idea.

    Depends.

Is she from a city, or Bogville, Maryland?

Two years ago I worked in a place that would hire European students. Some sort of programme that I forget the name of. Anyways average persons age was 18 / 19. One of the first things they did was take the tour at the Guinness factory when they arrived here.

    Not a bad option.

Wait till she sees the selection Netflix has for Ireland, She'll be taking the first flight back.

Bring her up north and teach her about the wonderful tradition of blowing each other to bits.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,034 ✭✭✭Ficheall

She's from Brooklyn, and you want to bring her to London? Ugh.

Ferry to the Aran Islands. Maybe incorporate the Cliffs of Moher tour by boat, but I never really got the hype - it's just thousands of tourists walking along a cliff edge much like any other.

Go to the North West and see Fanad Head Lighthouse. Scenery is spectacular. But that's really about the height of it. Derry and Giants Causeway only an hour or two away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,205 ✭✭✭Wompa1

I wouldn't bring her to London, if she's from New York. Probably better off going somewhere a bit different like Paris or Bruges. Somewhere with a bit of flair.

+1 on this, absolutely breathtaking. Shame about the wasteland-y bit on the approach to Greystones though.
