I have a few unavoidably low quality photos from today as well as a list of final bids for each lot. People mustn't have been too happy with the last one because today was much smaller in comparison. I think there were about 70 entries last time versus 40 today. Some nice cars, some not so nice. Some crazy prices too. Placed a bid on the Montego myself but didn't chase it. Picked up a few bits for a car at home at the autojumble and that was all. Prices I have noted just denote where bidding stopped. Feel free to add your own photos or comments below.

    Would love that Micra!

Funnily enough the Micra was sold by the same garage that sold my Subaru, Barkel Motors. It was nice but kinda rough and had 170k miles. I went €100 on it. The 94 Camry went for €200 no reserve

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 23,210 ✭✭✭✭beertons

The lad who bought that Ferrari bought 2 others aswell, I met 3 classic's and another in convoy on the Rathangan road on the way home.

996 was a bargain. Some crazy prices both high and low. And why can't they say if a car actually sold / made the reserve?

After the last auction I paid €5 for a snapshot which was due to come out the following week or something, but I got an email the following morning (Monday) to say my money was refunded and there will be no snapshot because some owners didn't want people knowing what their cars sold for and some buyers didn't want people knowing what they bought for..

I'm surprised you didn't buy the Montego. Very clean classic for the money!

I thought it was going to be mine for a grand :( It seemed to be getting no attention while on display. It was on donedeal for €1900 so I'd say for the sake of a few hundred the owner will let it go for the €1500

No No No No No No Noooooooooooooo. You've had a lucky escape. What a horrible motor car. I drove one as a hire car back in 1989 and it was just landfill in waiting even then.:D

Very impressed at how inexpensive the older cars are. Five Grand for a 1936 ford seems nothing.

Keep in mind the buyer must pay a buyer's fee, indemnity fee an VAT

About €800 in fees on that Ford

This car didn't make the reserve at €3300 and was withdrawn. Its now for sale at the reserve set for auction. The car is a very good example and is rust free but needs a few little bits and bobs doing to it. I have all the bits and pieces needed to bring it to a very good standard.

The car belongs to a friend of mine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,079 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

It is a nice car, I had a look at it today. To be honest I wasn't expecting the reserve to be so high, but old Mercs certainly aren't my forte.

Out of mindless interest to myself I will post up a few links to cars from today over the next week or two..

Those alloy wheels do nothing for it IMO.

€200 for the Camry seems ok. Not a particularly exciting car but should be a bit of a novelty in another few years.

Jeez, did the Alfa Gt Junior really go for about €6k

even in rough order, that would be 10-12k in the UK

I doubt it sold. The highest bid was €6600 but that doesn't mean it sold.

I'm not sure. It was very clean bar a little dent on the back bumper, and it had an odd wheel on the front right hand side but that might just have been the spare

It even had a bit of tax on it!

Out of NCT for many years. Probably won't pass without spending money. New owner probably a dick just like the old owner. Thinking the NCT doesn't apply to them.

Beetle was nice and solid but the red paint had gone pink in places.

No. But anyone driving around in a car for years, without bothering to have its roadworthyness tested is a selfish dick imho. Probably doesn't have valid insurance either.

There was a valid insurance disc in the window.

Not having a valid NCT can have an impact on the validity of your insurance. It's like deliberately driving around with worn tyres. Do you think an insurance company would not check that if you had a serious claim?

Up from €2900. You'd think he'd take a day or two, wash it, wax it a bit, introduce Mr Proper to the cab and clean the shyte out of the back of it.

I see the tidy 1998 red golf cabrio Lambe and o connor have had for sale for ages was there , they were looking for just under 2k for it at the garage and remember thinking its not bad value. Assume it didn't sell at €550?

That Golf had no reserve. Didn't realise it was from Lambe and O'C

they had it for sale for about 2 years along with a 2001 car at their garage - but when they moved to Clonee had less space so must have wanted shot if it . Possible future classic surprised they didn't keep it. From pics. it looked well and had low miles.

It was bid up from 1k from memory.
If it didn't sell it means it didnt hit the reserve.
I had my eye on that one big time. i was only there for the look mind, although I am an online bidder so could have bought on the app if I really wanted!
