    How do all these gym noobs, 15,16,17 year olds make strength gains so fast?, when I started 2 years ago at the age of 16, I could barely bench press 40kg and was one of my weakest lifts, and now I'm bench pressing 100kg for 5 reps which makes my bench average in terms of strength, which is average, also my squat which when I first started was 60kg and was making good progress, until I couldn't go to the gym for a month and it took 2 months to get back to 80kg, now at 120kg and struggling to get to a 3plate squat, which is 140kg for 5reps, and my deadlift which I don't do as often since I'm above average, hitting 200kg for 5 reps, and I hit all of these numbers without any gear, no belt or wrist raps, no chalk, full depth on squat, ass touch the back of the feet when squating, and only started using belt for only deadlift once I started dead lifting over 150kg, and I always training in shorts, T-shirt and normal
    shoes.

    However these recent teens that I have been seeing, that started going to the gym, after 6months to a year, usually in 6 months these guys already hit 200kg for a max on the deadlift, some hit maxes on the bench press for 100kg in 6months, and also their squats are between 125 to 180kg in just 6months, these guys use belts and knee wraps, and wear hoodies and long bottoms and squat at parallel some with people helping them, also goes for the bench and deadlift. And most are 16 years old, knowing them from social media,friends of friends and stuff like that.

    How are these guys making strength gains so fast??? What am I doing wrong?? And why am I not making these kind of strength gains??? I know thatvthe equipment and spotting on the squat help but how much do these really add on to their lift, 20kg most likely, so even if you took away 20kg from their lifts their numbers would still be impressive for a 6 months to 1 year period of time, I just don't understand what these guys take, since they're not even bigger than me, maybe some slightly since they're shorter in height, well actually they're all below 6ft, and I'm 6ft 2 but still I would like to know their secret, any answers would be appreciated, don't be afraid to contradict me if there's anything that I didn't clarify or that I stated incorrectly

    Your able to bench press 100 kg and complaining? I recentally started doing weights and could barley do 30kg press. I am now up to 65kg bench press and I think that is respectable. 100 kg is way over average from what I see. You might be just noticing the guys that are bench more than you but look around... most are not. Also 6ft2 and I think height is a big disadvatage.

    I also wonder how these your guys of about 18 are benching/lifting so much compared to me a 33yo. Genes is also a factor.

    I wouldn't over think it too much it's down to genetics extreme hard work dedication and proper training methods or using J and everything listed above it .

    Even in my gym I do ask how are some of these young lads and young ones lifting so much etc . It's down to hard work they're in there religiously . I think it's great to see.

    My mate once said to me when I took up running as a hobby etc and I wanted to run a fast mile / to good runners it was really only warm up pace to them " your a work horse not a race horse" . Some people are gifted to lift heavy stuff , others are gifted to run fast or run extreme long distances .

    Hard work dedication will increase your numbers. There's nothing wrong with your numbers at all they're decent...

    You're a teenager with ~2 years training under your belt. Are you not exactly the teenage gym noob you are complaining about?

    Your are still young, and two years is nothing. I think you are mentally exaggerating how many 16 year olds under 80kg are squatting 200kg.

    i have also noticed this, there is also some very young lads in my gym who are lifitng serious numbers.

    I dont think the answer begins with j. I think the answer lies in that they are in the Gym a lot. Id say they are going straight from school to the gym etc.

    Plus the fact that lads nowadays seem to be eating all the right stuff. Go back 10 years ago teenagers were all about the jumbo breakfast role. Now its all Lidl Protein milk and pasta etc.

    I think you are underselling yourself a little. You've added a sizable amount of mass- 25kg was it? Not bad for a tall skinny kid. Bench has increased 150%, squat 100%, and you're close to a 2.5x deadlift. I don't think you should be unhappy with that, and certainly wouldn't be expecting any more than that.

    If these "others" had a head start in size, there's no point comparing your lifts. But if you had of been say 25% bigger (70kg), your relative progress would have been less. You be stronger now, but less 25% stronger, maybe 15% You wouldn't be any where near a 4 plate bench.

    I still look really small for a guy who is 6ft 1 and 81kg, I want to get to 100 to 110kg for my bulk, and if I look fat and if my abs are not showing in the slightest then I'll cut so I can be looking lean at around 95kg

    Sounds like your numbers are really impressive and you are making excellent progress.

    But to address your question generally, I wish I did all the training I've done over the past half decade when I was 16 to 21 rather than 29 to 34. As a teenager your ability to recover and adapt is insane. You also can develop the kind of obsessional nature that really compliments strength training, or most any sort of training. If they're loading PEDs into the mix then what's possible only increases.

    That said, I can do things now that I would have been very impressed by five years ago. If people are down the gym training consistently multiple times a week they're going to progress - even if factors like program / diet / life make that progress less efficient than it would be otherwise.

    I trained with some pretty big dudes when I was that age and no one was putting up those kind of numbers.

    Steroids are cheap enough for even a young lad to afford though so if someone is getting that big that fast its the most likely explanation.

    Stop comparing yourself to others. Its a very bad habit to get into. There's always going to be someone bigger or stronger so only think about yourself.

    Its just like any drug. It can be dangerous but people still take them for whatever joy it brings them in the immediate term.

    And yes its very common.
