Is it possible to downgrade IOS on ipad mini?

    Long story short, a friend updated IOS on my ipad mini 1 and since then it has been almost unusable due to slowness.
    Has anyone any recommendations on the best way to downgrade? I would be happy to downgrade back to the factory IOS which was installed when I bought it.
    I only use the ipad for browsing and netflix so I'm not bothered if downgrading means other apps wont work etc.
    I also tried some recommendations I seen online to change some settings to improve speed but it is still annoyingly slow.
    Any recommendations are welcome. Thanks in advance.
