    Hi,

    OOW - Out Of Warranty

Mate has his TV diag by specialist repair place and screen is shot they say.

It over its 1 year warranty.

What is the European law on it? He bought it via a shop in Ireland not via the www

    Thanks

    Consumer rights outweigh a warranty.

Go back to where it was bought from and get them to resolve the issue.

The 2 year warranty was never enacted in Ireland, as our Sale of Goods Act, 1980 affords better protection. Look this up and learn the important parts. Your contract is with the retailer, and it is up to them to look after it. Ask them to repair, replace or refund you. Check the link Paulw provided and the consumer affairs website.

Warranties don't outweigh your consumer rights.

Under Irish legislation, and assuming no undue wear & tear on his part, he is entitled to expect a TV to last a "reasonable timeframe".

1.5 years is definitely not a reasonable timeframe for a TV. He should approach the seller, with proof of purchase. The seller is entitled to offer a repair, replacement or refund.

Poor old LG tellies get a terrible time in here!

As above OP, warranty shmarranty, consumer rights trump all that store policy bull. Once it's not damaged, I'd accept nothing less than a repair.
