Luxury fragrances incl Creed / Tom Ford in Boards tGC forum

Said I'd post this bargain here as it's currently in a quiet corner of Boards but seems appropriate to flag it here.

One of the posters in the Gentleman's Club forum has been organising fragrance 'splits' for months now whereby he collects money from others to do a kind of 'group buy' of luxury / niche / hard to find fragrances, subdivides into smaller bottles, and sends them out to buyers.

Some of the savings are huge, e.g. he sells 50ml of Creed fragrances for ~€70 - these are nearly €200 in Brown Thomas! He's also trying to arrange group buys of several Tom Ford Private Blends before next week. It might sound dodgy, but he's sent out hundreds of bottles at this stage and everybody seems happy!

Only doing men's / unisex fragrances at the moment, but I know he's previously mentioned adding women's stuff as well.

I've used this service and it is excellent. Pat does some fantastic work and delivers a quality product.

This may seem like a stupid question, but does the fragrance not lose something when it's exposed to the air and then resealed? Kinda like opening a bottle of Coke...probably a bad analogy!

It is a bad analogy. More like does your milk taste different the second time you use it for your coffee after opening.

No it doesn't. But it does go off quicker once the seal is broken.

That's what I was trying to get at.

    Split organiser here!

Fragrances don't 'go off' in the same way as, say, milk - instead, they'll slowly lose their top notes over time - but you're talking years here. Decanting doesn't introduce enough air for long enough to have any appreciable effect - the liquid is packaged into a standard glass spray bottle in the end anyway, so is essentially the same as any other bottle of fragrance.

    Perfecto!

There's no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid people!

Service is first class as are the prices

Well worth a look if you are in the market for luxury fragrances

Exactly. The retail prices of many of these fragrances are ridiculous, and out of reach of most - this makes them accessible to a much wider range of people.

Sorry, but basenotes.net has better deals. Check them out!

I'm very familiar with Basenotes and, an occasional split excepted, you will not get the same fragrances, in as high quality packaging, reliably delivered to Ireland for less there. Besides which, most of the big sellers there have been forced to withdraw their listings for violating the rules.

Bought a few off Pat over the past few months - excellent service, would definitely recommend. The savings all round are superb - I've been buying Creed's in BT for years, and there's no difference buying from Pat only the smug knowledge that you've saved a fortune :-)

    Creed 100ml in BT €264.50: http://www.brownthomas.com/brown-thomas-navigation-catalog/aventus-100ml/47x2854xcmav100.html?cgid=root&dwvar_47x2854xcmav100_color=No_Colour#q=creed%2Baventus&lang=default&start=1

50ml for €70 from Pat... enough said :D
    And many many more...

Just to add my 2 cents....I came upon Pats thread by mistake, had a good read thru and saw how well his customers loved the service.
So I took a punt on Creed GIT and Aventus....top class, bottles and packaged perfectly...and Aventus creed has always been a fave of mine...I then got Tom Ford's Arabian Wood, Oud Wood and another fave of mine, Tobacco Vanille... again packaging was perfect and the prices are the same as you would pay for a mass produced scent in boots or any other place....if you only try it once....you will be hooked and sign up for more from him, I promise you that

Hey guys. Thought i'd give Pat's thread a bump.

If anyone is looking for 'aftershave splits' for a fraction of the cost that you'd pay for a niche fragrance in the likes of Brown Thomas,etc...take a trip to the link in the thread here.

He is now offering one or two Women's fragrances too.

Thanks once again Pat...top service, top man!

Just in case anyone is looking for a gift for Xmas , Pat is doing "Creed Aventus for Her' fragrance now.... retails at approx €240 a bottle... but if some of you want it he can buy a bigger bottle, decant it and sell it on for a third of the price.... don't leave it too late, Pat's splits go very, very fast

I've no idea what any of them smell like. Going thru the airport next week so will make a note for the next split. Cheers OP.

You won't find creed in any airport

Anyone that would spend €250 odd on a bottle of aftershave would want there head examined.

Any pictures of what Pat's split bottles look like?

Some another poster got off Pat

    https://s26.postimg.org/9nvdnibs9/Full_Size_Render.jpg

Bottles are very good quality and the labels are first class

Have got 2 orders off Pat and will be getting more before Christmas

First class service which has allowed me to try some niche fragrances I would have never bought a full bottle of

    Bump

Pat has a new selection of splits available including the new Creed Viking

Huge savings and great value to be had on niche fragrances

What age bracket would aventus suit? Haven't smelled it but thinking of taking a gamble for hubbys bday. Would it be in boots?

Creed fragrances are only available in high-end department stores, BT, Arnotts, Harvey Nichols, etc. Aventus suits anybody over 25 imho. It's sophisticated yet versatile.

Aventus is one of the best reviewed niche fragrances out there

I would recommend that you try some out in Brown Thomas

Pat provides a fabulous service and offers huge savings

50ml will cost you €70 (not including delivery). The same 50ml in Brown Thomas would be €195.50

I've taken the liberty of sourcing you a top fragrance at a fraction of the price.....

    just for you

It's a great idea, one I'd definitely be interested in - but just a suggestion Pat, have you considered selling small sample kits - say 5 or 6no 2ml bottles or something like that.
I'd personally be weary of shelling out a hundred quid or more on a scent where I have no idea if I'd like it or it would turn my stomach.

Can I go in for aventus if ill have it before 18/11?

12.50 per bottle for delivery seems a lot. Pity it can't just be collected in Dublin. Perhaps a BA group buy to someone for collection?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,064 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

That's 12.50 for up to 4 bottles so that more people buy the better the value

Still even with delivery included you are making great savings on the same product in BT

Aventus delivered to your door will save €113 from the BT price

Well people on BA would (i guess) never have purchased it at the BT price anyway. But the shipping put's me off personally. No way I'd need 4 bottles. But a split between 4 people could work out I guess. Just a thought.

Just to point out that that covers overnight courier delivery in a strong, ludicrously well padded box (it's illegal to send by post BTW). Covers as many as eight bottles, depending on size (maybe four 50mls). Frankly, I think it's really good value. It can't be collected in Dublin as I'm in Cork with a full time job! However, if someone wants to organise a BA group buy, that's no problem, subject to my usual payment deadlines etc being met. I would note though that very few people buy just one bottle from me - average would be 3; some many more (bear in mind that over the last six months I've listed probably three dozen different fragrances).

edit: collection in Cork is free BTW.

I know what you mean, but it needs to be practical for me to do as well - there's no less work in filling a 2ml bottle as a 50ml! Keeping things 'standard' helps ensure splits go off smoothly - the more sizes and people you introduce into each one, the more likelihood that it never happens at all - which pisses everyone off (especially me!).

Many of the scents I list - particularly Creed and Tom Ford - are available to try at Brown Thomas and some other high end stores (which I know isn't practical for everyone).

Amazon has people ruined with free shipping... everyone expects free shipping these days. I run a small business, shipping aint cheap. I just got a letter from my courier indicating a price rise, second this year. Anyone that complains about having to pay for shipping deserves a slap with a fish!

Should be fine. I've just adjusted (i.e. raised) the price on Aventus so as to use a different (more expensive) supplier who has better stock availability than my 'usuals'. Will probably order some today. Will PM you re payment etc.

Plenty of websites do scent samples (think one is even called scentsamples.co.uk) order it from there.

I smelled Creed Aventus for the first time on someone in work...nearly followed him around the office. Its absolutely gorgeous.

Bought a sample along with his favourite for our wedding this year. He wore creed at the wedding (stuff last all day by the way) and then threw the rest of the bottle out plus the other one because he thought they were all free samples..... I nearly died

Even the samples ain't cheap. Last I checked, the going rate for official carded Aventus 2.5ml samples on eBay was €15+.

    Regular bargain watcher on Boards

Fair play to Pat etc. and all his satisfied customers who are prepared to fork out €90 for a 50ml bottle of aftershave. But I don't know if it really represents great value in terms of a bargain ? Even when I was really flush with cash and at my most insecure :-{ (about a decade ago)... I think my limit was about €70 for a 100ml bottle

But this below thread is what I call a bargain. (Filled my boots from Boots (pun) with this last year, its actually lovely stuff and still have a couple of bottles left)

Big freakin difference between a bottle of LaCoste and the fragrances that Pat is offering.

LaCoste is to White lightning Cider what anything Pat offers is to Moet & Chandon!

What Pat offers is the definition of a bargain!

Yeah, had that before, it's about 39 a bottle normally...6.50 is a good price..... but it's not even in the same stratosphere as the juices Pat offers, anyone who has used his device will testify to that
