Origins is good as well if you never played it.

Think that was included in Legends. There was an Origins section that got unlocked as I went along...

Edit: apparently 40 of 66 Origins levels included in Legends. Will definitely play the rest at some stage.

It's as good as the best 2D Mario games. Prince of Persia - The Lost Crown was made by the same studio. I loved it. It's a different kind of game but the same sensibilities.

Some really good insights on their game design below.

Ubisoft disbanded the team, which is hard to believe.

Rayman kept me wanting to play more every spare moment I could. PoP not quite as much but its very polished and enjoyable also. Thats a shame about the team disbanding.

Credits rolled and plat soon after on Ghost of Yotei. Fantastic game. I don't care about the actor behind Atsu, I don't care about the person getting fired, Sucker Punch have made another excellent game. If you liked Tsushima, you'll like this. More straight forward, but a step up in nearly every other way. World felt natural to explore, which is why I had little left to find at end game. It's not perfect, they could do with asking the Horizon team how they do character interactions, but I'd be nitpicking. Consistently smooth 60fps RT on the Pro looked amazing. No bugs or issues encountered.

Aside from that one duel that reminded me of the bs you get in souls games. Environmental effect turned him into 1 hit kill, and he gave me awful trouble. So I did what any good souls player would do and made a broken build and killed him first go. G'luck n thanks!

Mod note: Sometimes you just gotta delete a post on sight for immediately obvious reasons. If you want to post creepy homophobic nonsense, this ain’t the place for it.

Sucker Punch are scumbags for doing that but had to look up what the issue was with Ericka Iishii and was hoping she wasn't some maga bellend when you mentioned them. Sigh of relief that they are just gender fluid and sound. Just the bootlicking morons getting upset over nothing.

It does. And thanks for Microsofts incredible marketing there are less than 200 playing it on Steam.

Is that the lighthouse game? I remember seeing that at one of the game showcases and thought it looked amazing.

Ninja Gaiden 4 out tomorrow. However review embargo is yank focused so the time is like 11pm or midnight. The yanks are getting early access today so might be some impressions from the public before the reviews. Again early access is geo locked to the land of hamburgers, guns and far right extremism.

    fat right extremism? :)

    I mean, probably it's a typo but it's also true…

Two ninja Gaiden 4 reviews broke embargo before being pulled. Not exactly the biggest most trustworthy publications but there was a 9.0 and a 9.5

Played through Strange Antiquities, the sequel to the excellent Strange Horticulture. Hits the same sort of ‘information puzzle’ itch the first did - sorting through the data to hit upon the solution to each task. One of my favourite genres in that sense, and there’s some very fun and satisfying puzzles to work through here (plus plenty of cool secrets that unfurl as you get to know the shop). As well as identifying items, there are also palette cleansing map puzzles breaking up each in-game day.

A few hours lounger than Horticulture, and feels it - especially towards the end when you have a tonne of items and increasingly cryptic or low information prompts to work from. It feels a bit baggier and less pacy at times. Would definitely recommend the original game first in that sense. But for anyone who has played that or loves a good ‘here, go sift through the information’ game, this is well worth a go.

That Eurogamer news article on Build a Rocket, the developer behind Mindseye is shocking. Just sounds like a rotten place to work with an executive that is completely delusional.

Had a free GamePass month from a controller I bought a while back so decided to use it to play Keeper and Ninja Gaiden 4.

I reserve judgement on Keeper until the end - it reminds me of something like Inside so far with its cinematic, wordless storytelling approach and light puzzling, and I think that kind of game really rests on how well they nail the landing. But I can say from around 90 mins play, it's a hell of a looker. One of the more painterly art styles I've seen recently - even to the extent that some textures and areas feel like they're rendered in brushstrokes.

Interested in how you find NG4. I had a rare bout of maturity and decided to lay off buying it until I finished a couple of the games I'm currently playing.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Arts Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 31,065 CMod ✭✭✭✭johnny_ultimate

Yeah NG4 wasn't top of my 'to play' list, but given the month pass had to be used by the end of Jan I think it and Keeper offered a good an opportunity as any to use it. I'll likely finish the latter first though as it's only meant to be a few hours long.

I'm currently playing The Last Campfire on Xbox. Very good game. Well I really like it so far.(haven't finished it yet as I just bought it, I'm two to two and a half hours in so far) It's an indie game and it's on sale on Xbox currently for €1.49 Well worth the money. It's an easy puzzle game with very small bit's of exploration.

So, Ball x Pit. Quite good. Mix of breakout, Vampire Survivors, and Loop Hero.

Going to be a while playing it I think.

Played it on PS Plus a couple of years back and enjoyed it.

Got the 1 hour PS Plus Game Trial of it, used the full hour and thought it was great. Will definitely get it after I beat Lies of P and a few other things.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,143 ✭✭✭holly_johnson

Agree it's a great game, really enjoyed it. Not sure I would call it indie though? It's made by Hello Games of No Man's Sky fame. Would they be considered indie?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 110 ✭✭Anois_

I wouldn't have a clue about studio's so maybe it's not an indie. Still a great game and if you are on Xbox it's on sale for €1.49 which is a steal.

The Outer Worlds 2 getting some great reviews out there. Eurogamer gave it an eight, and said it reminded them of Mass Effect 2 at times.
