drippy problem

    The overflow pipe is leaking outside making a loud drip. We replaced the ballcock but the drip persists. Do we need to wait a day or two for the new ballcock to correct the problem or should we try something else?

    Hi LazyClouds. A few questions...

    Did you drain the tank a little when you replaced the ballcock?

    Did you adjust the height of the ballcock?

    Is there a lid on the water tank that the ballcock might be hitting up against?

    Make sure nothing has made the ballcock stuck. Had a problem before where a piece of timber fell down after replacing one and it held it down. Could just be sticking either.

    Quite often the mains pipe feeding the tank is hydrodare, black flex pipe. Well when I say flexible is mean that it's not rigid. If this isn't supported correctly it will bend the ball cock. Assuming you have a plastic tank here. The pipe should be pinned /tied up so that it's not pulling on the ball cock
