    Hi Everyone,

I heard about World pull-up day a few months ago. I like the idea and I've been toying with the idea of organizing an event in Dublin (possibly Marlay park) for the 9th September 2017.

Before I get started planning the event, I want to see if people on here would be interested in attending such an event or have any thoughts on the best location for the event? I've been in touch with the organizers and the only requirement is that the location must have pull up bars. My motivation is as follows:

    - The event would be FREE. I have no background in Calisthenics and have no interest in trying to make money from it. I've wanted to do some volunteering for a long time and this seems like a perfect place to start.

    - The event would welcome everyone. Male and Female of any age, size & ability.

    - The aim is that it is a feel-good event rather than a macho challenge.

My plan is to have a group of volunteers to help with organizing and running the event and as well as everyone trying pull-ups, we could have a group doing a demonstration of some of the more advanced calisthenic movements and providing guidance on the correct technique.

All feedback and input is very much welcome. Is this something people on here would be interested in attending?

Mods, Apologies if this is the wrong place for this.

Sounds interesting, if there is somewhere closer to the city centre it might be better though than Marley park.

Great to hear you like the idea. I've been looking at the list of parks with Pull up bars that Ant11 put together a few years ago. Ideally, I'd like to organize the event as close as possible to the city centre. Here's the list. Any thoughts on what the best option for people would be?

I'd be interested in this for sure. I'm pretty **** at pull-ups and I only do them 1-2x a week but I think it's a great idea.

I'm strong enough to do muscle ups for sure, so I'd love if I could be shown the right technique by someone aswell; maybe if some calisthenics lads came along, they could do some sort of demo?

The last few weeks I have been doing pull ups every hour while in work. I started doing 3 each time, last week I was doing 5. I would say at the start I could do 4 or 5 decent pull ups, last week in my girlfriends gym i did 8 and i could have done at least one more. I am going to start doing them with 10kg next week, it will be interesting to see how it goes..

I would love to be able to do a muscle up, even a kipping one would be cool to begin with..

Not trying to be a coach here but try and experiment with different grips and grip-widths. I can bang out a set of 20 touch and go chin ups, without much trouble, but anything more than 5 or 6 wide grip pull ups with a pause at the bottom is pretty tough.

Thanks for the feedback and great to hear that you would be interested in attending. The response has been very positive so far. All going well, We will get a location and time nailed down in the next week depending on what preferences people have.

I've been in touch with someone who practices and teaches Calisthenics at an advanced level and is also interested. I hope to know more on this soon but a demo could be part of the event

Thanks for the tip, i have been a bit.

I am surprised there is no where actually in the city centre with the exercise stations they put in other parks.

The one in Marley park is a proper set of pull ups bars at different heights and dip bars, they should be everywhere. Sandymount has a pull up bar but its part of a set of stations which are more for old people to move on and not as good as the one in Marley.

Just on that link, they won't all be places with pull up bars or dip bars - some are just playgrounds where you can do them but they probably wouldn't be suitable for an event
