Moving to Ireland - Question about getting into schools for people who have done the

Hello all.  There is a good chance that my wife will be transferred to office in Dublin (EastPoint is where her office will be).  We have 2 girls (ages 4 and 8).
Having done a lot of research online I understand that it is not like the US where children are automatically admitted to the school in their district. However, for people who have moved to Dublin with children, can anyone offer some suggestions about the best way to get your children into school?
We have identified a few areas to look at to rent but I don't want to get into an area only to not be able to get into any of the local schools.  But, we can't get into the schools until we have rented a place and can prove residence.  Plus, we may be moving in the middle of a school year.
Other options are to start renting before the family moves and hope that it will give us enough time to get into a local school (still no guarantees)  or look at private school, but neither is ideal.
If anyone has gone through a similar situation and can offer some advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Every school has its own entrance criteria so you need to contact them.individually .
What month are their birthdays ?
The little one will prob go to pre school so have a Google for ECCE scheme .

Is 4 not to old for the ECCE sheme?

no,not at all.
If the child was 4 since March they won't usually start until they are 5.
