I'm getting as far as reserving but confirmation email doesn't mention the camera at all

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 354 ✭✭Redlim

Managed to get a reservation code when I reserved it this morning. Have I much chance of actually getting it now that it seems to be out of stock?

Can't see anything available in cork? I've got 2 emails confirming the reservation but no detail in either!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,404 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

Is this not worth about the asking price? Or is it seriously normally north of €500?

It's a great price. Even lower than the entry-level Nikon D3300.

I paid about €600 for my D5100 (a few years ago now) and that was a good price at the time.

Those lucky enough with a reservation code, make sure you check latest price upon collection. I collected mine yesterday for €329.99, today is €26 cheaper, ah well.

If you have it reserved at 330 wonder will you now get it at 303.99?

    EDIT. just saw above post.

There have been two released since this one, the D5500 and D5600, the latter announced in November 2016 so pretty recent. Delta between them all seems fairly small though: https://www.dpreview.com/products/compare/side-by-side?products=nikon_d5300&products=nikon_d5500&products=nikon_d5600

There's a few newer models since this has been released. I guess they're just clearing old stock.

Currently have a Nikon D3100. Just wondering would this be a good upgrade on the d3100. Got it when starting college about 6 years ago.

For anyone that may have missed out, the ebay store has them too, albeit 7 quid P&P additional, but at that rate that's still cheaper than yesterday's price in store: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Nikon-D5300-24MP-DSLR-Camera-18-55mm-VR-Lens-Argos-Shop-ebay-/112483452781

Wonder will this keep dropping as that's what, 3 days it's dropped in price in a row?

As opposed to? It was 329.99 yesterday both in store and there, so still cheaper with the postage (stated as additional) today than in store yesterday.

I just rang the Camera Center in Dublin and asked if they would price match this with Argos...

The poor man nearly had a heart attack!

I've one reserved in Wexford that I won't be collecting as it's not a big enough upgrade over my current Cannon.

Pm if you want it but it needs to be collected today but quote this post first.

Thanks guys. And please don't take the code to sell the camera, let a Boardsie who will actually use it but it.

    EDIT: CODE GONE.

Just a tip, I think you and people should be saying first to quote as it stops the same people hovering them up as no doubt the scabby traders are crawling out of bed and hoping to make a few quid off these.
