Passat B6 Increased Fuel Consumption

    Hi all,
    I have a 08 Passat 2.0tdi CR B6.
I have notieced recently over the last few months that the fuel consumption has gotten higher.
The car has 168k miles and i over service (meaning every 5k). It sounds very quite still even after the high mileage. Back in March i had the software update done, i have heard complaints arising from the update!!!!
I had back tyres on up to a month ago but i renewed all 4. Yesterday i had 2 new rear shocks fitted and i filled the tank and saw that the range is only 650miles. This used to be 850!
Also, the MPG used to be mid 50's but now late 40's.
My mechanic scanned it and found no errors and after that wasnt really interested.
    Anyone with any ideas??

Doesn't the trip computer tank range adjust with your driving style?

When I fill my tank it says my tank range is 650kms (based on previous averages) and by the time I get to work 70 motorway kms away it says my tank range is 900 odd kms.

Neither are in any way accurate.

If you've calculated your MPG via the brim to brim method a few times and you've seen a 25% reduction I'd expect to find a mechanical fault.

Thanks for that, will try the full to empty for a more accurate view
