Haven't seen these positions up before, looks similar to the Apple At Home Adviser positions.

Anyone work for eBay in these roles or can shed light on the salary, conditions etc?

Here is the link to the job.

I applied.. self employed for a number of years and no office/customer type of work so I didn't get it. Not much information about this job either on the advert..times and remuneration. Ah well :(

I applied wonder does it matter that im not based in Dublin, have every other specification otherwise?

I applied myself for both Apple and Ebay recently. Someone i know through a friend nominated me for Apple.

I would probably prefer the apple one in truth but thats only because ive spoken to people from Apple who love it. Im going into the unknown slightly with ebay but i cant imagine it will be that different.

I have experience in telephone customer service from my previous position and the person who referred me to Apple said if i was able for my previous position (banking telephone agent) then Apple would be a breeze.

Great money and considering you are saving the daily commute that is probably an extra few grand on commuting per year plus the cost of lunches then it takes your disposable income for the year even higher. Really hope i get one of them.

That's for the work from home job. They also pay your broadband bill up to €50 per month as far as I am aware. If you factor in the cost of travelling to work and also time spent commuting it's not actually that bad.

The salary for the office based job is between €26-€28k per year as you said.

What was it about your lack of office/customer type work specifically, that makes you think that is why you didn't get it? Did you get feedback from them?

Does the the application state you must have it, the type and for a minimum number of years? Do you think there may have been other factors at play? I don't see a certain level of customer service experience mentioned in the job description?

    Cheers !

    hey lads,

so I applied for this position a few weeks back, and got an email back yesterday. They are phoning me tomorrow, it didn't mention anything specific like whether or not it was gonna be a phone interview, but I was wondering if anyone here has been through this process before? Any tips on what to expect?

    Thanks!

I have been through the process before. More than likely the call tomorrow will be to explain about the role and invite you to the next stage of the interview.

It's quite a long process, phone interview, video interview, aptitude test, evidence of broadband speed taken several times a day over 3 days, then live video interview .....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 354 ✭✭lila44

so i had the call today, you were right it was just a talk about the recruitment process. But I have to complete the virtual interview within 3 days... brickin myself! think i'm just gonna prepare some answers and hope for the best

There's no need to panic. When I did it I was a bit nervous because I had not done one before. They present you with a couple of questions like why you want the job and how you would handle different types of issues. Have examples ready of times you went above and beyond, dealt with a difficult customer, how you solved an issue as part of a team. Things like that.

Best of luck! And let us know how you get on. Oh yeah, find somewhere quiet with no distractions :D.

    hey hey!

tiny update, passed the recorded interview - - was so incredibly cringy, and definately i'd give a tip of writing down some prepared scripts to have infront of you incase you blank.

next step is the online assessment - anyone have any experiences with that? not exactly sure what to expect...

I can't remember a whole lot about it but there a few basic numerical questions, grammatical errors and a typing test. It was pretty handy when I done mine.

    Hi there
I've been following this thread for a week or so, and am wondering if any of you guys who went through the interview process have heard anything back yet?
I've also applied, did all the tests and assessments, video interview (first interview in 10 years so it was a real eye-opener for me!)
BUT I've not heard a peep back from eBay in ages..
Anyone else get a response (don't have to say what it was, just whether or not you were hanging as long as me). Beginning to loose hope....
    thanks!

If you've already done this, sorry its a bit late. Otherwise, as far as I can remember it included some fairly straightforward maths, grammar tests, a typing test and a personality test (wwyd in certain situations, reactions/feelings about issues). Also a windows test (opening, closing, copying files). Hope it goes well for you!

There was a delay with getting my response. I believe that it was due to the amount of people that applied for the job. Don't loose hope.

thank you! That's good to hear. I did learn that the full time applications were taking precedence over part time, maybe that's another factor..

hey, did you finish the process? like, do the final live interview and stuff? i passed the assessment & had my final stage live interview on wednesday. the guy said i would hear back within 2 weeks... it could be 2 or 3 days also he mentioned. has it been longer than that for you? if it has i'd drop them a wee email just querying it.

i'm hoping to hear back soon... the interview went okay, i hope. longest job interview i think i've ever done.

    Hi Lila44
Thanks for your reply. Wow that's brilliant you've got through the process, fingers crossed for you. Eeek another video interview! How was it different from the first, was it like skyping? What sort of things did they ask?
I plucked up the courage to email the HR department, and thankfully got a response very quickly.. as I applied for the part time role it's taking longer, so it's a waiting game still.. hope you hear back soon!

it used the very same website as the recorded interview, but you can see the people asking you the questions and they can see you!

They asked a LOT of questions, went through my CV in detail, asked about working towards targets, questions about customer service, why you wanna work for ebay and whatnot. then they went through a roleplay scenario. they email you a lot of resources before the interview, but I would definitely say to do your homework before it!

ah it sucks waiting doesn't it? let me know if you hear back :)

    hi lads,

I applied weeks ago, got a message a week back that I can be progressed to next round.

Then was invited for video interview, answered all questions. Just personailty questions with some customer service type questions.
later on they found it impressive so let me take an online assessment, its mad-has 5sections to complete. Aptitude, maths, personality questions, typing- really brain dead with timers
it looked like I did well but unfortunately when I was doing the test while on timer, i got call on phone which distracted me so lost few questions there as its like you should do 40questions in 20mins so Noway you deviate. its just a badluck as I have a good experience and was with good hope that I can settle here

Can't take this pain, i feel like a loser and apply back after 6months means again a wait. I applied here for the first time

In fairness, you should have treated this the same as a normal face to face interview i.e. No calls.

    Was your application unsuccessful?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 281 ✭✭memomtoo

yes surprisingly. I did not lift my call but a moment of checking a text I did lose 4questions but super confident that at least I must've made 80% right. Because they are basics I know
i just cannot take this really. I have been working in customer service sectors from years, its silly to see this outcome, shame on me. Still wonder where it went wrong. I have good plans with this place

Hi there I applied a couple of months ago for the part time job I got an email with application form and speed tests to send back which I did. No reply. I sent a dozen emails and after 3 weeks they get back to me apologizing and saying that they will start hiring for part time in the next months. The email was from the 26th of october and it said
I can see from your application you are interested in the part-time roles. We haven’t started the process for hiring for the part time positions as of yet however we do hope to do this over the coming months. We are currently hiring for the full time positions only. Today I sent another update request. No reply.anybody in the same situation?

questions along the lines of why you wanna work for ebay, what you can bring to the table, and a lot of general customer service questions. one i remember actually that stood out was what you think a good online shopping experience is like.

edit: i think i quoted the wrong person sorry lol!

Hi Charlie27 - I’m in the same position. I had applied months ago for a part time position, did the recorded interview and the speed tests. Never heard a peep back, and just assumed I didn’t get it.
Your post has given me hope. Just a little however, as I found the recorded interview very tough.

Hi Xenor, I didn't even do the recorded interview... They just asked for speed tests and application form and they replied just when I sent an email saying "OK, its been weeks you don't answer my email I have to presume it was unsuccessful for unknown reasons"... And now still silence...

It sounds like we were both unsuccessful then. It would have been nice of them to let us know either way, but such is life.

did the interview few days ago, now waiting on reply. not sure if did well on interview, its hard to know what they are looking for. Usually there is a mind set for behaviour and caracteristics, so even if you are good and can do a good job, you might not get it, though life.

No not even a call just an email saying they'll hire part time in a few months... But if so how come there are people on this forum who applied for part time and already did interviews and assessments? Smt is not right...
