Just had an ALMIGHTY shower in Cork City - still raining now but not as heavy, but about 5 mintues ago it was teeming down

Driving in that rain in Cork was terrifying. Windscreen wipers on full belt, going slow, barely able to see out the window. It just kept coming.

It's been a terrible summer all round we only got a few days this year that you could really call summer and that's was between the 16th to the 20th of June one weekend that the sun continually shone

    Grange's August 2017 summary

Rather sunny and mild with average rainfall.

    Rainfall: Bang on average.
I recorded a rainfall total of 69.3mm during August 2017 which was 100% of the LTA - bang on average. Despite it being bang on average, the month was very variable in terms of its wet days. 62% of this monthly total for instance was recorded during a deluge on Monday 14th which was my wettest day of the month with a daily rainfall of 42.9mm. This made it my wettest August day and also day overall since August 2014. I had 19 wet days (days with 0.1mm or more) during the month, my highest number of wet days for August since 2014.

Temperature: Rather mild but not as warm as August 2016.
I recorded a mean temperature of 14.8c for August 2017 which was +1.1c above the LTA but not nearly as warm as August 2016 which came out at a mean of 16.3c and was my third warmest on record. August was very unremarkable in terms of temperatures. My maximum temperature for the month was only 22.3c on the 27th which would be my second lowest August maximum on record behind 20.5c in 2011. My second warmest day was the 11th with a maximum of 21.4c. I had only two cool days (days with maximums less than 16c) during the month though which meant that maximum temperatures were either average or slightly above average during much of it. My minimum temperature was 5.7c on the 13th which was a very typical August minimum temperature. I had 9 days with 20c or more which was also very typical for August. My minimum temperature of 14.6c on the 21st would make it one of my warmest August nights in recent years.

Sunshine: Mainly sunny but not as sunny as August 2015 or 2016.
I recorded a sunshine total of 145 hours which comes to 103% of the LTA but was not as sunny as August 2015 or 2016. My sunniest day was the 8th with 10.5 hours which would be my lowest August maximum daily sunshine since 2014. This was also my only very sunny day (days with 10 hours or more) of the month and among the lowest quantity of very sunny days within an August on record.

August 2017 is the definition of forgettable looking at these statistics that I'm already tired or extremely bored just from writing this :P.
