Pierre Kartner has died at the age of 87. Who? You are probably asking. His stage name was Vader Abraham and he wrote and sang The Smurf Song. He also wrote the song that was translated into English as The Red Rose Cafe. RIP.

I love how Conroy’s reinforced the idea that Batman was the primary identity and Bruce Wayne the assumed character. In contrast to the live action Batmen, Bruce Wayne’s voice was the performance, he defaulted to bat voice (regardless of what he was wearing) when in the company of those who knew his secret.

Folks been sharing clips of Kevin Conroy. This one from when he was working in a soup kitchen following the 9/11 attacks is genuinely heartwarming.

Interestingly, one of the first episodes of Batman: TAS features the character of The Gray Ghost. The character of The 'Gray' (American spelling) Ghost was voiced by another former TV Batman, Adam West.

It was very much a 'passing of the baton'. As well as that, it was very much honoring West, who'd been slightly crapped upon when the Tim Burton movies debuted. We can criticize the 'campness' of 60's Batman, but it was representative of the comics at the time. And it was actually pretty well written in it's early days. A lot more intelligent than people gave it credit for-it was 'in' on the joke.

But the show wanted to let the audience know 'yeah, we're going darker, and more serious-but we're not gonna ignore the past'.

(I don't mean to spam-Conroy's Batman was just a formative part of my childhood).

I cannot believe it either. Kevin Conroy was the lifeblood of being Batman when I was growing up as a kid. His loss is immeasurable within the world of comic books. I would say, hand on heart, that his passing will leave his fanbase with a lot of tears and sadness when they hear of news about his death. RIP Kevin.

That was the same reaction I had. It just floored me.

Folks are posting memories of Kevin Conroy, and many folks posting their Cameo requests. (paid promos on an app or website).

    This one was very fitting.

Seeing reports that Jason David Frank who played Tommy in Power Rangers (the original Green Ranger, White Ranger, and then several other rangers after that too) has died, seemingly from suicide, at 49 years old.

    RIP

Just heard about it and I'm stunned. I was a big Power Rangers fan back in the day and loved the Green Ranger storyline in particular. That stuff was iconic if you were a 90s kid. Very sorry to hear this.

Nicki Aycox has died at the age of 47 from leukaemia ( original Meg in Supernatural ) a familiar face to many also in Cold Case and Dark Blue

Very sad news of Jdff. He came out this year to say he was done with the power rangers. Something must have been going with him than.

The Power Rangers have suffered somewhat of a 'curse', sadly. Thuy Trang died in a car accident aged 27. Jason David Frank's brother, Erik, died aged 29. It was never revealed what he died from. Pua Magasiva (hope I spelled that right) died in 2019. His brother later revealed he'd suffered from mental illness, and took his own life.

It's quite sad, to see your 'heroes' fall on hard times, and not recover. For every 'successful individual', there's countless more who fall on hard times, and just never get out of it. Hope he's at peace, at least.

TikTok has accounted for a lot of my screen time over the last few years, and I think most Irish Tiktokers have come across solicitor Richard Grogan (that's the law and that's a fact). He has been on Irish TV and Radio fairly regularly too.

He has just passed away after a short illness. RIP.

Same, I loved his videos on TikTok.

extremely rare that in the legal profession that an experienced and revered legal professional would willingly regularly provide advice, legal advice or pointers no matter how brief, to and for people free gratis like that. It really has to be admired. He really came across as a seriously good guy, a real mixture of experience, expertise, kindness, diligence, toughness and smarts with his usual humour thrown in.

i was shocked though how fast though he went from a dapper looking, bright eyed gent to in his last video very quickly looking a quite gaunt, pale, horse and of course having lost his hair, but still wanting and determined to help…despite being very unwell…

A class guy, a great credit to himself, family and profession. Trying to help to the end…. ⭐️

In terms of TV his biggest role was in Walker Texas Ranger. He was in that for its entire run.

I remember him in Matlock too. Seems a lot of famous people dying well in advance of average life expectancy of late. RIP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,162 ✭✭✭✭ohnonotgmail

Oddly enough I was looking at his IMDB credits earlier and his Matlock credits raised a question.

A good 30 or 40% of his Matlock credits say "credit only". does that mean he didn't actually appear but was still credited?
