and the ironic thing is Anatoly Dyatlov lived a longer life by 10 years, he died age 64 and yet he was in the control room when it actually happened...strange world isn't it

Patrick McGuinness, Attorney who featured in the Oscar winning Documentary Murder on a Sunday Morning has died aged 70.

    https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/timesunion/obituary.aspx?n=patrick-mcguinness&pid=198164864

If you haven't seen the documentary, it's worth watching. Came out in 2001, and shows you just how far the police will go to get a conviction-no matter if one is innocent or not.
Brenton Butler was a 15 year old teenager at the time of the arrest, and was coerced (in similar techniques to those used on prisoners in Guantanamo bay) in order to get him to give a false confession.

The documentary was filmed by a French documentary crew, and there was quite a massive fallout afterwards (McGuinness and his team were fired by the then newly elected Mayor in 2008. He came in with a 'support the police' mantra, and that documentary still stuck in his craw). McGuinness went into a private practice later.

Murder on a Sunday Morning's trailer. (McGuinness also coined the title).

    1_ARP_MDG_080421Walter-Olkewicz_33061JPG.jpg

Walter Olkewicz, star of shows such as Twin Peaks, Seinfeld, Cheers, and Grace Under Fire has died. He was 72.

He had many roles in film as well, starring in Steven Spielberg's 1941, and in The Client where he played Jerome 'Romey' Clifford, the mafia lawyer who takes his own life.

Had quite a list of acting roles under his belt, but sadly had health issues in recent times, notably suffering with his knees in later years.
Knee surgeries proved to be a mixed success. One such surgery unfortunately led to infections, which left him unable to bend his knees and thus mostly bedridden.

His final television performance was in 2017, in the Twin Peaks revival. He performed the role from behind a bar counter, to hide the fact he couldn't stand.

Am sure he was more like his portrayal in the Crown but his Spitting Image character is how many will remember him fondly :)

The Rapper DMX, has sadly died aged 50.

He was a talented, but troubled soul. Had a number of acting roles, probably most notable was his appearance in Romeo Must Die (alongside the late singer and actress Aaliyah) and Cradle 2 the Grave alongside Jet Li. He also had roles in tv shows such as South Park and Third Watch.

But his music appeared in pretty much everything-Television, video games, and films. X gon' Give it to ya, made an appearance in both Deadpool movies.

So raise a glass, and let this song play. RIP DMX.

Nighthawks was excellent! A bit surreal, a bit subversive and often very funny. It signposted the big social changes about to begin in Ireland. Do you remember "You bathtard, Charlie!"?
    RIP Shay.

I don't remember that... Haughy related?

RIP. Shay was an absolute legend.

My brother said it best- 'Shay is more a loss to the nation than any Royalty'.

Nighthawks was incredibly intelligent, subversive television. And Shay Healy was a true entertainer-he knew when to leave the audience wanting more. He ended Nighthawks before it grew tired.

But not before it became legendary for exposing Charlie Haughey, or the time Fr Michael Cleary excommunicated Morgan C. Jones from the church over a mere allegation. (A sketch parodying Cleary, was alleged to have implied...something (Cleary was projecting, a guilty conscience catching up with him). But since neither Cleary or anyone associated with him had watched it, nobody quite knew what was said.).

I was still a child when Nighthawks was on, but I remember being able to stay up late, watching it on TV. (My parents were working, they were fine with it, as long as we didn't stay up past midnight).
Even as a kid, I knew this was something special.

He hadn't been in the best of health, in recent times- Parkinson's had robbed him of so much. But his wit was ever present.

    RIP

Exactly that. On the eve of the first Gulf War they ran segments on last things to say to someone before Armageddon. This was just after Charlie had 'shafted' Brisn Lenihan senior following his 'mature recollection'. The pronounced lisp should give a clue as to who was supposed to be leaving the message to her dear leader. Brilliant stuff.

That's desperately sad. I remember watching the series she was on. Her 'Who is she?' line became one of the most memorable in the programme.
