Some companies don't ship batteries across the Irish sea, and this one ships them all the way from China warehouse? :D :pac:

Prices are great though, thanks OP.

They've been around a while - Been mentioned quite a few times in the android forum in regards to phones. Decent deals from time to time. Seem to be ok.

As GBX said, they are around a while. I find them very good to deal with if any issues not that i have had many.
The only annoying thing about them, is on sales that attract a lot of attention, they sometimes run out of stock and your item could be delayed. They do not really answer questions about shipping (listening to other people asking 'where is my stuff' on other forums), but the items always arrive within 30 days.
    Often sooner than 2 weeks.
I ordered a Drone that was on sale on the 21st of June, It arrived yesterday after shipping via Spain. Mine was one of the delayed ones, as i ordered it late into the sale.

    these be any good though

    And they're genuine?

Yep, genuine, as much as any other Chinese store.
I bought a solar panelled DIY car from them for €7 a few months ago, and it arrived missing a wheel (the placement was in the plastic frame but it was moulded to nothing), and they offered me a new one or a refund. I asked for a new one.
    these be any good though

The Chargers? The 10,000mAh uses Quick Charge 2.0 and the 20,000mAh uses Quick Charge 3.0.
This will be my first Power bank 2, they get great reviews, but i can not vouch for them myself as i have not yet had one.

I have the previous version, will be getting one of these now. The fact that they now have fast charge is a bonus!

I'm regularly travelling with a 20,000 mAh Anker and had no trouble.

Have a Xiaomi 10400 Power bank now for nearly three years and it's always with me in my hand luggage. Best purchase ever IMO.

When paying by PayPal and on mobile, it takes the discount code, but after PayPal it gives final tallies before checkout and removes the discount. Will try on desktop, but to be careful. Could be just me though

Will this get hit by customs? Wondering what value they'll put on it...

Doubt it as they are both under €21. Even if there was some mistake your invoice should clear it up.

Have the previous 10000 one and it's great.
Got from ba on here and will get couple these too.

    Yes to Q 1

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xiaomi-Power-20000mAh-Charge-support/dp/B06XDJHFLM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1499947229&sr=8-2&keywords=mi+power+bank+20000mah

£50 on amazon, I've just paid £11.60 from Tomtop. I should note that I have a Xiaomi Phone and the spec is unbelievably high quality. All their products are really stand alone for price v quality.

I'm not really sure what this thing is. It's a portable phone charger right?

They are, but you lose the big benefit of quick charge.

Great deal, thanks. For the sake of a few euro went for the 20000mah one. Makes long distance travel so much more bearable.

Bought 2. Both models via paypal and no issues with the applied discounts.. Have 3 of the smaller ones for a couple of years now. and they are a great piece of kit. Gonna hide these 2 in the man drawer as the daughters just rob everything.

How long does it take to charge a phone (i phone for example) on one of them? is the quick charge meaning the bank charges quick or the device?

Thats irrelevant to iphones. They aren't quick charge compatible.

It is portable power bank. You can use it to plug in many devices via USB, and charge them or use them as normal.

The quick charge refers to the device that is being charged the Power Bank themselves can take a few hours to fully charge.

Shame they moved away from the all aluminium casing of the old power banks to plastic. But cant have everything!

The first "feature" in the description of both, is that they have aluminium casing. (Or as the Americans call it "Aluminum".
    Features:
    Aluminum casing:

Beautifully textured aluminum surface. The single-piece metal casing was created by high precision CNC digital cutting. The surface is water and corrosion resistant, and is perfect for everyday use. Simple design: Buttons, indicator lights, and connection ports are located on one end of the power Bank.

Odd, was reading a review about the 20000mah released last year and they said its plastic. Must be an older model.

I was having the same issue with the cost going back up, eventually had to register and checkout that way, and then re-apply the code at the end again before I got the discount.

Despite the description, it actually looks plastic so we'll just have to wait and see. The 10000mah's I have at home are metal. Wouldn't bother me eitherway. The Xiaomi stuff is very well put together.

Xiaomi are a pretty reputable brand, I would't be worried about the safety of these powerbanks. It's devices connected to the mains that you need to be careful about, chargers etc

Because batteries never explode when they're being charged.

In fairness, you started it. Plenty of people here are thankful for the op and it's a great deal. The company are well documented across the web as being very reputable in the tech sector and many boardsies would agree with that. The fact that you would not have it in your home due to the absence of a CE mark is your business. No need to throw it on a popular BA.

It's unbelievably rare for a battery to explode or even vent while on charge. They sell millions of phones every year and I've never heard of any exploding. What makes you think that the charging hardware in these is any different? They'll be using off the shelf cells too, probably the same ones in every other powerbank.

I don't know what you mean....or what you think 'CE Certified' means.
But if you think that the appearance of the CE Marking on a product means that it is safe (or even safer), you are misinformed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,004 ✭✭✭iggy

Can't get the discount to apply on final screen.
It shows up when I apply it first?
I've registered and tried putting it in cart and paying that way too but no joy.

Well, it is appropriate to be cautious about any products containing batteries....and especially products with a high power density such as these.

The problem with a term like 'CE Certified' is that it implies that a 3rd party has actually assessed and approved that product.

But CE Marking means nothing of the sort. It only means that the manufacturer is declaring that its OK - under his sole responsibility.

In any case, these type of devices don't fall in the scope of the EU safety directive covered by the CE Marking so even if it were CE Marked it would not imply any declaration (and certainly not any certification) about safety.
