Looking at 3Camels they jacked the price up only recently after a lengthy static price. Just in time for their 'sale'.

when you sign-up for a new 30 day trial, do you need to use a different credit card as well?

amazon.de sale starts at 5pm our time...and presumably the other euro amazons

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,746 ✭✭✭SachaJ

Or you can purchase Prime for 1 month @ £7.99. Makes sense if you have already used your free month trial and are saving more than that during the sale.

I think you can also register a new account and use the same credit card. I think I have one setup in my wife's name so might use that and take the free trial.

Credit card is fine, you just need a different e-mail address.

Yeah these 'sales' are a load of crap, prices jacked up a week or two before. I would rather a good lower price than all the smoke and screens at play. Gone are the days of a real sale, anything that comes close to a bargain is usually a human error!

TrustedReviews.co.uk do a list of upcoming prime deals. It's sponsored obviously but it'll give an overview of some of the best stuff tech-wise coming on sale.

Jumped on for the free trial. Did not know you could avail of it again having used it before. Now for the wait.....and the hope of a (unlikely) Nvidia shield steal.

Watching out for a Shield deal myself

They are discounted 20 quid already. Tempted to order at that price and get onto customer service if needs be.

How do we make the most of the prime delivery? Parcel Motel etc I presume?

Purchased an Oral B Genius 9000 Electric Toothbrush as it's at a near all time low of £100. Hopefully for that price it's a Rolls Royce of electric toothbrushes.

Also I'm conflicted about a Braun Series 9 9296cc Electric Shaver down to £190. Should I really spend that much on myself for a shaver?

Realistically, the bulk of punters will be spending over 25quid, in which case it will be free shipping to your door. No need to use the PM/AP/PW options unless there is nobody there to receive the delivery.

You seem to loose the free shipping to Ireland when you spend over £25 when you have prime.

I spent £45 on Prime last week and was being charged £8 delivery to Ireland but was free to the UK.

    i have prime.
I use it for next day delivery to PM/PW where its costs more to post to ROI. Its free next day.
If its over the threshold and I'm in no rush I get free postage to ROI.

No you don't free delivery to Ireland is still there. It just isn't the default option, you have to select free delivery on the shipping options page.

The list of items that do not ship to Ireland, is definitely growing. It might explain why amazon decided to embrace the third party services and email everybody how to input the addresses correctly. No doubt it is saving them quite a bit.
It still usually works out okay though. But it would be better if any of them offered parcel consolidating.

the first service to offer consolidation will capture me for life - I have had 10 deliveries (from 3 orders) to parcel motel this last fortnight at a cost of €40:rolleyes:

So the firestick is listed, but no where on Amazon can I find any mention of it going on sale. And the stuff that is listed as going on sale at 6pm this evening doesn't show a price.
    Am I missing something?

Mailboxde and a few others offer it from Europe.

I have had to cancel stuff coming from Amazon a number of times, as they were supposed to be shipped together, but were split up and could have cost me a fortune.
Mainly because one or some items would not ship to Ireland.

Not to mention, if PM did it they could free up a lot of lockers.

  • Posts: 7,320 Colten Lively Cervix

Yeah if I have multiple items in an order on Amazon I feel forced to use my Irish address. Would cost me a fortune with PM because Amazon love to send everything in dribs and drabs.

Prime alleviates that (I forgot to cancel), once the items are all prime 1 day shipping. I've not had massive order, but 2 of my orders had 4 items in them each, and both others arrived in full in Antrim the next day.

I'm only speaking from my experience of prime, but then again, i've not placed many massive orders, in either size or quantity.
The last order I was making told me 1 item would arrive the following day (ie. 2 shipments), so I swapped it for a different item.

Side note: Amazon tried to deliver to Antrim on a Saturday and failed. They emailed me to ask did I still want the items and to arrange to either reship or return them. I contacted them and they apologised for not being able to ship to me within 1 day (not their fault) and as compensation they gave me an extra 30 days prime. Must be desperate for Prime members.

These threads are my annual "check on whether Prime is worth in Ireland" threads. Are there still no benefits outside of faster delivery to Parcel Motel? I take it we still don't get Prime Video or the Kindle library?

Prime Video works for me. Poor though. Most stuff required additional payments. The Grand Tour, Man in High Castle etc were free, but nothing much else worth watching.

20% off pampers, if that's your thing.

Must check out the kindle library, wife has a Kindle.

Would Amazon not be better off launching into Ireland with a Amazon locker system? Instead of a full scale job. Free delivery to the lockers.

I tried that with a different item just two days ago that dropped in price and they refused to price match. Maybe I was just unlucky with the agent I got

Wow ! Tell them to arrange a return then, and you will order the cheaper one, might change their mind and if not just do that. They were always good about price matching for me in the past might be a new thing...

Not really impressed with what I'm seeing so far. Pretty much the same "deals" amazon has on and off during the year for most items.

As postsnthing said tell them that you are returning it. There do seem to be some very poor agents lately, probably sick of dealing with people which i would imagine is inevitable.
I bought a game last week and found out yesterday that it will not be delivered for another 3 weeks as their stock was damaged 4 days ago. I got onto chat to question where my stuff was and they filled me with nonsense before i got a better agent yesterday. Although they still refused to accept the blame. Not that it really mattered, i just thought that was kind of funny.

For prime to work here properly, they need to be able to do next day delivery - which, presumably, they can't do in Ireland without a huge logistical cost.

They'd need to have proper distribution warehouses in Ireland for that to work

They get items to Antrim the next day. Quite impressive really.

20% off items in the warehouse.

Brings the open box Nvidia Shields down to £120.

Some nice offers on the DE site that I haven't seen on the UK site like the Logitech Harmonys, that new Nintendo console etc.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,935 ✭✭✭TallGlass

Like above, they can get the stuff to Antrim next day no problem. Maybe not even Amazon, but a service partner like Parcel Motel to get next day delivery to the Motel Box.

As for the offers today,

I like the look of this Bosch Professional 18v SDS drill with 2 x 4Ah batteries. Sure it's not going to drill an 18mm bit into concrete but reckon it would do for 95% of my bigger jobs. Be interested to see the discount tomorrow @ 4.55pm. Only concern is if it would fit in a PM locker.

Good deal on the 55" Sony which makes it £150 cheaper than Richersounds
