When you consider how completely and utterly the character of Emmet has changed in the last year its remarkable how influencing Manson and her way of thinking is. Emmet used to be a typical scumbag who listened to nobody and within a short few months he has morphed into Mansons second hand man, handing over his cash and doing everything he is told, that's brainwashing in my book.

Then you have poor Hannah who was nearly killed, the fact that they covered it up and used drugs suggests Phoenix Way wants to be a more aggressive form of brainwashing akin to Scientology. Then they put poor Katy up in a cottage in Donegal, filling her mind with mantras and psychology about how to think differently. Sounds exactly like a cult, one with I hope an interesting direction.
He's still threatening people with violence, though, so he isn't entirely changed. The old Emmet is alive and kicking, just below the surface. :)

At least the Don is saving money not having to wear hair nets.

He will go further I think with Doug, I sense Emmet may even try to kill Doug and make it look like an accident all for the "good" of the group.

Tonight, Manson to Emmet: "I expect much more from you in the future"

    Fcuk me :eek::eek::eek:

    I miss Farrah, Jane,Sean,Bob,Hughie,...etc...:o
No sign of Renee either, and Katy hasn't been around much since she got back from Donegal. And Sash has temporarily vanished too, along with her friend with the kids she was looking after. What happened there anyway, does anyone know? Did the friend - Nikki I think she was called - find a proper home, admittedly I did miss quite a few episodes around that time ? I'd love if Heather came back. :D

Why has Dans apartment not got cabinets under the counter top in the kitchen. Surely with a man in wheel chair he keeps everything in reachable distance.

I'd say so... Actually, I think Oakley is as close to sound as one involved in something like the Phoenix Way can be. My take on him is that he's in it for the money and that he really doesn't buy into all that cult stuff. I know he gave Hannah the sedatives, but apologies if I'm remembering it wrong, but didn't Manson give her something first and didn't tell him about it? And she kept Hannah there for God knows how long without rest - probably food and drink as well.

I think 'i expect much more from you in future' was more i expect you not to lose the rag, make threats, make us look bad infront of new guys like Cormac, not play into Doug's hands etc. I read it more of 'you should be cuter if you're going to be a leader here'.

I sort of think that Emmet will do something rash and violent off his own bat (like beating Doug into a coma), but still, I'd say Miriam has something shady in her past. Maybe not murder, but something the FC writers will expect us to believe is shocking! :D

As i watched Carol tonight and seeing Niamh gone a few thoughts came to mind.

While most of us here are sick of Carol and Niamh and their one dimensional acting and characters i can see how FC would try to retain them.

For older viewers Niamh goes back to 1995. There's a kinda nostalgia for, what i think is an older audience, with these characters, Niamh's affair with Barry O'Hanlon as a school girl, the rise through Blue Dolphin, all the men she was with.. Paul, Barry, Keith, Michael (mumbles), the Nicola clashes.

Likewise Carol had a central role in the storyline which had the highest viewership. The Billy Meehan relationship and murder, November 2000 until his death in November 2001. She still carries a bit of the 'aura' of Billy Meehan in some peoples eyes. The biggest ever Fair City story. Likewise connections through Lorcan to actors who have passed away Paschal (Brendan Cauldwell).

Damo has a little of that too. Marty Halpin being his dad. He tried to raise Laura and Mark with the help of Dolores post his mother's murder in 2003. His working with Frank the Painter and running off with Suzanne when she was a school girl.

Bela and Charlie make brief appearances but are some of the last actors along with Tony Tormey to be there from the start in 1989. Nostalgia is a big player in soaps. Bit like Alf in Home and Away. Then there are the actresses and actors who have passed on they shared the small screen with. Hannah Finnegan (Pat Leavy), Mags (Joan Brosnan Walsh), Esther (Eileen Colgan) were all well known and respected. So all in all it's understandable how, even if they appear to be deadwood, we need a few original actors. Again i think especially the over 65s tend to like these characters.

She's cunning and manipulative and is trying to reign in Emmet's more violent tendencies.

Yes i agree Emmet will lose it with Doug. The irony being he put up such meek resistance to Ciaran last year!!

Also, when a group of people are working from the same mentality absolutely anything goes and the most reserved of people are capable of shocking violence. Manson has 2 problems- Doug and Oakley. I wouldn't put it past Manson for a second to want both of them out of the picture, however that happens. Remember she got Hannah to sleep with Emmet just to get him on board- a man who was on the verge of a breakdown over his missing sister.

Then she nearly got Hannah to kill herself then twisted it to sound like she was a destructive slut, so she kept her awake for nearly 2 days solid and got Oakley to pump her full of drugs just to shut her up. On top of this, she has now taken over Eoghans house and turned it into a sinister commune where only smiles and positive thoughts are allowed. Run for the hills!

And I'm still not 100% convinced that Oakley and Manson wont team up at some stage if they could both benefit from it, be that a luring of poor Doug into a dangerous situation etc.

Its ironic that Pete is away these past few weeks, the writers obviously know that the pair of them together would be too much for the cult to overcome. I'm sensing that Doug us going to have an accident soon.

Probably so he can wheel himself right up to the counter and put his legs under the counter itself when using the counter top?

Is the new guy in Miriam's group undercover or something?

Nothing wrong with him, I saw him running by Busy Park in the summer. Lying bastard is just after the free bus pass

I was wondering if he somehow is related to Hanna and was trying to infiltrate.

The whole Paul suddenly owning the business cause he bought the building was ridiculous enough without him donning the chefs whites in vinos. Everyone knows you can’t microwave tomatoes!

As for Ama... please just go away

Because nurse Bronagh is hiding in the closet and every night wheelie Dan goes too bed or goes out she
anticipates what he need and she leaves it out for him, then she watches him from closet with the door slightly ajar, with a stupid grin on her face :pac: :D.

I wonder who would win in a twisty head competition between Doug and wobble head Ciaran who locked up Katy - too close to call I reckon .....

Paul is like his asshole son Oisin, your not running a fast food restaurant. You really couldn’t work with either of them.
