Showers seem to be missing us here, just one very brief shower earlier, quite disappointed to be honest!

    Grange's July 2017 summary

    Rather mild, sunny and dry.

Rainfall: Rather dry but not so as last year.
I recorded a rainfall total of 42.1mm which comes to 77% of my July average rainfall. Despite being a rather dry month, it was not as dry as July 2016 which had 27.4mm. Apart from Wednesday 19th which recorded 16.4mm and was my wettest day of the month, there was no notable wet days during July for the second year in a row. This meant that the rain was either light in nature during the month or rather than persistent rain, it was showers. July 2017 was indeed quite a showery month especially towards the end. I recorded 15 days with no rainfall which is just about average for July here. This meant I had 16 wet days (days with 0.1mm or more) but 2015 and lots of other Julys had plenty more. So overall, July 2017 was just a fairly dry, showery month and is quite forgettable for rainfall.

Temperature: Rather mild but not so as last year.
I recorded a mean temperature of 15.2c which was +0.4c above my July average temperature. Despite being a rather mild month like with the rainfall of being rather dry, it was not as mild or warm as July 2016 which had a mean temperature of 16.4c. My maximum temperature was 25.2c on the 17th which was a fairly typical July maximum with July 2013, 2014 & 2016 all recording higher maximums in recent years. I recorded a close contender on the next day, the 18th with a maximum of 25.0c. The 15th was a very muggy day with a maximum of 24.2c but barely any sunshine unlike the 17th & 18th. I had 14 days with 20c or more which is above average but again 2013, 2014 & 2016 all recorded more than July 2017. My minimum temperature was 6.7c on the 8th which was my highest July minimum temperature since last year, 2016. Like rainfall, July 2017 was just a fairly mild month and is quite forgettable.

Sunshine: Rather sunny. Sunniest July since 2014.
I recorded a sunshine total of 184 hours which comes to 106% of my average July sunshine. This made it my sunniest July since 2014. My sunniest day was the 17th which recorded 16.0 hours of sunshine, my sunniest July day since 2013. There was a large contrast between the two halves of July with the second half being much sunnier than the first half. The first half (1st-15th) had only 66 hours of sunshine and the second half (16th-31st) had 118 hours of sunshine. I had no completely dull days during the month. Overall, it was a fairly interesting month for sunshine.

I give July 2017 a 6/10 looking at these statistics. It was nothing to write off but nothing to ride home about either.
