Ya it's clearly a glitch on their site, same products are far more expensive on the tesco uk site: https://www.tesco.com/direct/hoover-til2200-ironjet-steam-iron-white-red/587-5651.prd?source=others

Wonder if they will catch/honour this for people.
They do say it's a guide price (https://www.tesco.ie/groceries/dialogue/?dialogueName=AboutGuidePrice) and the payment will be when the order is put together, I've never tried to buy something from tesco online so maybe someone else can confirm.

If you click and collect them, you will not get them.

Aside from any other reason- there is no way on earth they have the stock to honor any orders placed online.

When you go through the checkout process and click on collection, it brings up a map showing the level of stock in stores so you can choose.

anyone get it through click and collect for the price displayed?

I have to collect one in Waterford tomorrow and my mother is collecting in Blanchardstown around the same time. I'll let you all know what happens.

I ordered it to be delivered tomorrow. Extra €4 but I'll let you know if it comes.

If I ever find one of these, I'm ordering and waiting for delivery before posting it here :D

Just to be clear under Consumer Law, unless and until you've actually paid for the goods, no retailer is under an obligation to honour any advertised price for goods on display - it is merely an "invitation to treat" - no contract exists until money changes hands. So you may be lucky but don't count on it.

I think we all realise this but still hope some slip through. That's why I said I'd order first before sharing. Much smaller chance of it being found out if there are only a couple of orders. When they see hundreds of orders, they will look into it.

You will get a call in the morning saying its out of stock. Or maybe you will arrive and they will substitute it. With a full price model.

The things are on the shelf till the morning when picking begins .

You could get lucky though. Very lucky.

Text my brother about this, he's gotten some ordered to 'click and collect' in the morning between 9/11am, so I expect to hear back at about 905am I'll report back.

This morning the food processor is showing as 49.99 online. I'm waiting for it to be delivered. My bank account shows a pending charge for tesco for the higher cost of the processor though

Surely they cannot process a higher amount on your card without permission ?

What happens if you refuse collection based on the higher charges I wonder?

They processed a higher amount on my card, I called and kicked up a bit of a fuss and they agreed to refund the difference.

You might need to forward on the number you called, I know a man won't be happy if he's been charged more than what I text him :o

    They explain it clearly on their site;
Anything you buy is a guide price and subject to change.

    About Guide Price
Please note that the prices on our Grocery website are guide prices only.
The actual price you pay is the price charged in store when your order is put together for delivery. This is because:
    • The prices of some products may vary between when you place your order and when it is delivered.
    • Your Personal Shopper may weigh items like fruit and vegetables or pick pre-packed weighed items like meat, poultry and cheese. This means the price will vary slightly in store from what is on the website.
    • Some items in your order may not be available at the the time of picking and therefore may need to be substituted.
All prices are expressed inclusive of any VAT payable unless otherwise stated. The rate of VAT is 23%.
When your order is delivered you may return any item and receive a full refund if you consider that the difference between the price charged and the guide price shown on the Grocery website is unacceptable.

i have a confirmation email, and am scheduled to collect tonight.

That won't make a difference. They can still cancel/charge more.

Mine is due to be delivered this evening. I have not been charged yet and it looks like there is no hold yet on the amount. I expect my order to be cancelled, even though I have a confirmation email.

Unfortunately your order for today has been cancelled. Due to the popularity of the sale, the items you have ordered were out of stock, and I am sorry for any inconvenience caused. No funds will be taken out of your account due to the items being out of stock.

Mine's due tomorrow, i doubt I'll get it, or they'll up the price on pickup

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18 Sleeve of wizard

My brother went to pick his up, but he was charged €125 for 2 food processor's and an iron, so full price.

Said the guy doing the click and collect van said they'd been briefed on the 'system error' this morning.

He refused to collect and was advised to expect his card to be refunded within 2-3 days.

Hopefully this info will be useful to anyone planning a Tesco trip.

If you refuse the delivery I assume you are still charged for it?

It's showing online that my order is "picked" and the bargain price, suppose this still doesn't guarantee that they'll be delivered at that price?

I guess when driver arrives and they've charged higher price tell him you don't want them?

Ditto. Time will tell- however, I think its a safe assumption, we're not going to get it.

Mine says picked too. But doubt I'll get it. Picking the soonest available slot would have been the best chance. I should have just picked an early slot today as my Mum is always at home. I'd know by now at least.

Don't think there were any slots left for last night when I looked :(
