Wireless adapter

Hi all,
Buying a wireless adapter for my mom but I haven't a clue what to get. I look at descriptins of them and they say 120mbps for cheap ones and thats considered slow. If anyone could tell me what speed I'm going to need please tell me. Cheers

Also consider a set of homeplugs, wifi can be pretty terrible at times unless you're pretty close to the router.
