I tried the calypso once a day spf 20 which I picked up in Lidl. Its like putting on antibacterial hand gel, pure alcohol. Left me with blotchy lumps so think the rest will be going into the bin

Ah would you give over. That's pure BS.

I've used this as well as P20 many a time and they are very similar products.

Pure alcohol me backside. Maybe you have outrageously sensitive skin.

You should be very careful then about what suncreams you use if this is the culprit.

    Riemann P20... main ingredients:
Alcohol Denat, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Homosalate, Octocrylene, PPG-15 Stearyl Ether, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Acrylates/Octylacrylamide Copolymer, Hydroxypropylcellulose, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate.

    Nivea Sun Baby Lotion Spf50:
Aqua, Octocrylene, Alcohol Denat, Glycerin, Titanium Dioxide (nano), Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate

Nivea Sun Spray Kids Pure And Sensitive Spf 50:
Aqua, Homosalate, Octocrylene, Alcohol Denat, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Butylene Glycol, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine

That's applies to a hell of a lot of sun protection products across all brands. You'll see the main ingredient listed first as either aqua or alcohol denat. The latter usually used in sprays, mists, etc. Whereas the creams will be water based. So it's not an issue with the product you used as a whole but more so your own reaction to it.

I mentioned the Lidl SPF 30 spray a in a post but it looks like it has no UVA protection so Aldi has an SPF 50 4 star UVA so this is probably the best bet for high protection spray.

I have used the Calypso 20 for triathlons up to 6 hours with no problems - that includes starting with a swim, sweating plenty and shoulders exposed for the duration. Also did an all day event 2 weeks ago, applied it at 4 am, finished at 7pm and no hint of sunburn, again with exposed shoulders and lots of sweating. Others doing shorter events on the day managed to get themselves burnt!

The one drawback is the initial strong solvent smell, and I do get some small bits of what I believe is dead skin coming off when I rub it in. Otherwise I have found it fantastic.

Ah yes. Thought it was only me. I had this happen me also. Especially if I rubbed it in too much or applied a bit too much.
