Terrible film scenes

I will start of with Iron Man 2 and the Monoco race. I am sorry but its just so bad. When the villain strikes the first car and it flips over surely all the drivers have radios on them and the race controller would have called a stop to the race. The big crash that then happens after the second car strikes it would never have happened. I am sorry this has to be one of the worst scenes in a movie ever. I remember seeing it in the cinema and thinking how bad that was.

So what films scenes can other people here think of that just don,t add to a film or are badly done?

Is that not the first one? Can't remember the second but the rave scene in the first is brilliant.

As for the Monaco race in Iron Man 2, that's the scene you find far fetched?😀

If you are going into a film called Iron man then there are a certain set of rules you are willing to accept. Breaking other rules when there is no reason to in telling the story deserves to be called out.

Just because it's a superhero movie doesn't mean you cant expect some sort of realism in the world they show.

I thought it was hilarious, especially the comment about fingering and Michael Fassbender snogging himself. Director was probably taking the mick a bit.

He took the mick by making that trash...

The Dark Knight Rises - The "Light it up" flaming bat symbol part.

An obvious one that has been discussed to death but still one I find particularly jarring in an otherwise enjoyable sequence in an excellent trilogy.

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp.

FFS what on earth was Burton thinking with the flashbacks of Wonka??? This is meant to be a childrens story - not a psychological dichotomy of Willy Wonka.

Saw this when it came out. Memory a bit fuzzy about that exact scene but did they also do a bit of:

I agree Salvation is terrible but I quite like the other two films.

Ye there is a few scenes in the new D.O.T.P.O.T.As films that are silly alright both in the first and second one but I still like the films do.

Well the film was terrible to begin with but the karaoke bar scenes in Only God Forgives were a farce and difficult to take seriously in any way whatsoever.

    Blade

Obviously a very invigorating film when it came out.....generally holds up well these days as well, but worked best as one of those late 90s action drops.

Anyway......fantastic opening scene, with both the fast pace and music/lighting background immediately dropping the audience into the world of the Daywalker and its various scumbags.

    Then this happens....

    blade-fist-pump.gif

Film takes another hour to steady itself from that one ponce moment, but in truth never full recovers, as the cringefactor never subsides even on repeat viewings.

F**k you, Blade. F**k you, Wesley.

The train crash in Skyfall was terrible. The special effects were abysmal. Looked like a Hornby train set crashing.

I misread the movie! I thought the post said Blade II, not the Matrix, and was thinking of the opening scene in the original Blade which I think is great.

McDermotX talks about it above. That "yuss" gif still gives me a smile, I like it!

That and any other scene in the same movie

The Fast and Furious movies are renowned for not giving a shít about physics and I usually begrudgingly suspend my disbelief but the moment in six when Letty is thrown from the tank and Dom crashes his car to catch her is fcuking awful. Which is a shame as the rest of that sequence is enjoyable enough.

Also: "Is it still raining, I hadn't noticed".

For me, this remastered scene in Star Wars Return of the Jedi is one of the strangest things ever.

One scene that comes to my mind is from Live and Let Die. In the scene, James Bond forces Dr. Kananga to swallow a compressed gas pellet, which turns Dr. Kananga into a giant balloon.....

Was never gone in any of the Bond films anyway so not that bothered by it, but it is one of the more farcical moments in film (in which the majority of the film is reasonable enough) that stands out to me

The ghost sex scene in Ghostbusters was totally unnecessary and awkward.

The epilogue in the final Harry Potter film, good God, there was no need for that to be in the film.

Brad Pitt in 12 Years a Slave. Totally unnecessary cameo, detracted from the immersion, overload on exposition and totally out of place. And I really like him as an actor.

Can't really think of any good films where the scene was bad but I saw this in a thread a while ago.

Not sure how they kept a straight face filming it :pac:

    [...].

I don't remember that scene in Blade, but I DO remember all the terrible, plastic'y CGI FX. And with the mention of Air Force One, it does seem like many late 90s, early 2000 films all suffer from that same problem.

CGI was still relatively fresh and unexplored in blockbusters, with only edge cases like Jurassic Park showing what it could do with enough time and money (and of course even then there wasn't as much CGI as people assumed). So you got a rash of otherwise excellent films ruined by CGI that just wasn't up to the task; to the Air Force One bucket, I'd add The Mummy Returns :D

Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull is a terrible movie. I wish it was never made. There are 2 bits in it which are really bad

    - they're on the motorbike and the skid in the library and the student asks him a question which he answers

    - when he's sinking in the quicksand and starts to explain the difference between quicksand and a sandpit or something

Batman Forever gets away with a lot because of Batman & Robin taking much of the attention away. It's an awful awful film with very little redeeming qualities. The soundtrack is decent, that's about it. Terrible.

Independence Day contains two hilarious scenes - one, where Boomer the dog just about makes it away from the fireball of flames that really should kill him anyway & also a Will Smith manikin parachuting in and compound fracturing both his legs/knees

Never noticed that parachute scene, but yeah real clunky!

The dog scene always bothered me. Like he just dodged a screen/scene wipe of fire.
