Physical ones. Emotional ones go here -> http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=127

I've one over my left eye from when I was 16/17. Left my mates gaff drunk after a session and forgot he had a little step right outside his door. Fell and cracked my head against the ground. The eyebrow covers most of it luckily.

Also have scars across the top of my back from when I was about 12/13 and scratched the bejesus out of a load of midget bites. Worth it though.

    What scars you got AH?

On my forehead,a Harry Potter style scar caused by a flying pint glass.
On the side of my skull, from falling out of a moving camper van(2hrs knocked out)
On top of my skull, split open as a teenager diving in the shallow end of a pool:o
On my forearm, spilt open protecting myself from a baseball bat.
Little Finger, caught in the spinning spokes of a bike(nearly chopped off)
My hands have a few mostly sharp glass or metal damage.
And on my neck ive one from a cyst removed when I was a week old...still clearly visible.
    Im like a fcuking Picasso.:pac::pac:

My head looks like it has hieroglyphics on it,im unfortunately thin on so top so keep my hair cropped so they are visible.I've one on my right eyelid that you would hardly notice most of the time but when it's cold outside its very apparent.I've a good few on my hands, and one on across my right ankle.I hate them.

Have a few. One on my forehead from getting stitches there when I was 18.
Had two moles removed from my back so two scars there.
One on my knee from when I was running outside with my pram as a kid and as I was running the pram folded up and I fell. I was crying and picking stones out of my knee as I walked home.
Another on my finger from when the Christmas tree collapsed one year as I was decorating it!

Burn mark on my arm about the size of a 50 cent because I burned my arm with steam last December.
Six small scars on my torso from keyhole surgery where the rods went in.
    Caesarean scar.
14 stitches in my knee from surgery.

I am Harry Potter. I have a scar on my forehead as a result of me not wearing a seatbelt in the 80's. (Not there was a seatbelt)

Scar from a slip of the blade on a TORO machine at the golf course and a hole in my chin when I extracted a bit of metal with a Stanley knife after a bearing change went wrong.

Slash on the wrist (was lucky) that just missed an artery. I liked my tools sharp and the thing slipped.

Shattered ankle X2 and the scars from getting them fixed.

Several burns that never healed right and could be called scars but I call them "we have been here before" scars.

    Think that is it.

Only one that is visible is on my left arm where the hydraulic armored door for the ammunition compartment on my tank opened on it. Bless the designers, they put a pressure sensor on the far side, so I kept the arm.

Yikes, I thought the normal issue was arms in the path of the returning breach block.

One on my forehead when I took on the fireplace aged 3.

Left knee from when I did a slide tackle on ice playing football over 40 years ago
Right hand when i foolishly inserted it in some farm.machinrry to clear a blockage in the late 1970s
Lower back where they inserted the knife on 4 separate occasions between 1994 and 2002 to deal with slipped discs
Left knee following cartilage surgery early in 2009
Left eye due to skin graft required following a cycling accident in 2009
Both lower arms as a result of road rash in the same accident
Just above the right wrist following another cycling accident 3 years ago - the plaster they put on the broken wrist meant the cut did not heal properly
Left sinuses, below the eye and temple area where they inserted titanium plates following the same accident
Still have a couple on the right shoulder following surgery earlier this year

Other than that pretty much in pristine condition

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,820 ✭✭✭FanadMan

One across my chin from when I wanted to shave like my father. I was about three years old and it was an old style open razor - the blade went straight into my chin.

Loads more all over my body from scratching due to psoriasis and more from self harm......still hate them :(

Nasty barbed wire scar on my leg dating from back when I was a child. It stands out because it's a pure white line and I've a sallow complexion.

Also have red oven baking tray scars on both forearms.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,826 ✭✭✭phill106

Main ones would be from when i was hit by a car, for that one i got 10 stitches on the back of my head where there is a nice scar, along with large hard scar between my middle and index finger which goes halfway up the the index finger (nearly lost it! think that was 8 stitches).
Also have one on the middle of the top of my head from where a neighbours child threw a rock at my head ( i deserved it, i stole his rabbit).
Also on top of my head i have a a line from where a computer i was working on fell off a shelf onto my head.
On my shin i have a fairly long scar from the spring of a car seat gouging me.
One on my left shoulder from banging into a concrete fence post.
Outer wrist from scratching it while installing car radio and keep bloody picking at the scab (im awful for that, i do the same to my fingers all the time).
Sole of my foot from carrying my youngest up the stairs as a baby, i knocked a pint glass that had been at top of stairs and it landed just as i put my foot down, had to shout for my wife to grab the child off me as i couldnt move)
    Think thats the main ones!

Some on my hand when I stupidly punched a glass door

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 698 ✭✭✭Tazio

    Back of hand...

Spanner slipped working on engine and bolt poked hole in back of hand. Hand subsequently stuck to said bolt. Had to pull hand away. All alone in workshop.. fun morning all the same.

My back, from barbed wire. My wrist, from some cut I can't remember. My thumb, from a really deep cut while cutting an apple. My index finger, from dropping a heavy stone on it at the beach, which was later extended by the talons of a hawk grabbing food from my hand.

Best story is the scar on the back of my head, from when a 4 or 5 year old me fell for my brother's shoulders while playing 'circus' and landed on a upturned plug. The longest of the 3 pins got stuck in my head and I had to go to hospital to have it removed. The doctor was from India or Pakistan or somewhere and it may well have been have been the first time I ever saw somebody who was not white.

I spent the whole time sobbing to my mother not to let "the brown man" touch me.

I have a big scar on the back of my head from surgery I had as a child. I'm told there was 200 stitches but I don't know

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,608 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Had 2 stitches under my lip due to me flinging a tennis racket at the ground in a rage, it bounced straight back up and split me.

2 at the side of my eye from jumping off a swinging farm gate at the wrong time, it rebounded off the pillar and the bolt on the gate hit me.

11 stitches in my chin from an unfortunate incident involving a home made swing, a 10ft copper pipe and falling off a shed.

6 stitches over my eyebrow from a fall at school following a collision with a girl running the other way.

2 stitches in my forehead from walking into a chair. The stitches were only out a few days and I headbutted a wall and reopened the wound.

2 stitches in a finger and 1 in my thumb due to various bouts of stupidity cutting things with stanley blades.

And a big scar the size of a €2 coin on my leg caused by a shotgun (long story).

14 stiches from a ruptured appendix as a preteen...a week in ICU also,
A 1" scar on my chin from a homemade spear that was thrown at me and stuck in my chin, plenty across my knuckles from boxing, a 4" one on the back of my skull from falling down the stairs drunk and waking up 6 hours later in a hospital bed.
Fell out of a skip and have a 2" scar on my knee and shin from hitting concrete...that's it I think

Edit...I have another scar on the back of my head from a drunken fall at home where I hit my head on the metal corner of the sink....woke up in a pool of blood...that was, to the day, 7 years before the other head injury

Metal plate in arm and scars from the surgery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,090 ✭✭✭julyjane

Episiotomy, although I was under the impression they disappear after a time I don't really want to check.

Appendix out 14 years ago, scar is just a faint white line now.

Fell off my bike and cut my face 23 years ago and didn't think I needed to see a doctor but I still have scars so maybe that was a bad decision.

Had a lump removed from deep in my armpit 2 years ago and the 4" scar still looks nearly new

Small dog bite scar under my left eye. Only noticeable in sunlight.
    C Section Scar.
Small scar on my head (under my hair) where I split myself as a child.

    That's it.

Big scar on right foot afer slicing it open on a bottle. 10 stitches and nerve damage.
    Appendectomy scar.
Little scar on the back of my right hand, from when I was playing with another kid's pocket knife and he grabbed it back suddenly.
Scar on my chin from a bike crash.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. I have a large scar running right around my neck due to being decapitated in a freak helicopter accident several years ago.
Luckily my head was retrieved and successfully re-attached.
It's amazing what they can do nowadays.

I've one from ear surgery that runs up along the back of my ear and about 4cm into my scalp. My barber is still convinced I had a facelift...

Do stretch marks count? Ive got a few on my stomach that look like stab wounds. Got an ECG recently and the nurse was like really shocked at my tummy. She asked me what happened. I told her that's what happened when you have a baby and she should see the state of down below. Love putting the fear into young ones who haven't experienced the horrors of pregnancy :)

I have a scar just under the eyebrow on my right eye. I was bouncing on the bed as a toddler and fell against the corner of the bedside locker. It has gotten more visible as I've aged.

One pock scar on my right knee where I fell on the corner of a concrete block.

One under my left knee from a slide tackle on an extremely dry football pitch.

one on my knee from ACL surgery

Very very feint one (now that I'm 45) on my nose. Got it when I was 6, tripped on broken glass in a seaside town.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76 ✭✭Nyctolust

When I was 2, I tried to lift my dad's cup of just-made tea off the counter when he was putting milk back in the fridge. Mug was too heavy for me - especially being lifted off a tall counter when I was standing on tippy-toes - and the tea spilled all over my head, chest, and arms. Only got a scar on my right arm though (like, all the skin is deformed there) - it covers the width of my arm stretching down from my shoulder to the crook of my elbow, and there's tiny scars on my fingers from it too.

Also got a small scar on my other arm from being scraped with a sharp pencil in primary school and one on both knees from a fall when I was around 9, but those aren't nearly as interesting lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,518 ✭✭✭✭dudara

I had open heart surgery when I was 10, so I have a big vertical scar down my chest, plus two smaller diagonal scars on either side from the heart bypass machine.

I detached my retina due to taekwon Do about 9 years ago and had to have corrective surgery. Hence scars on my retina plus a permanent plastic "buckle" on the rear of my left eye

In terms of others, I have scars from mosquito bites that got badly inflamed, plus a nice big half-moon scar on my left index finger from when I sliced it open with a sharp knife

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,914 ✭✭✭micar

On the underside of my chin. Split it open as a child helping my dad on a building site.

Foot.... Dropped the front part of a trailer on my foot. The second time did the damage.

Forehead, to a lump out when it hit the edge of a fireplace.

Three on my left arm and elbow when I went over handlebars of my bike. One if the is a keloid scar about the size of a two euro coin.

Plenty on my hands from working on sites. One is from grabbing the blade of a saw sliding of a roof.

Scar from eyebrow piercing that came out.

Head.... when I hit myself over the head with claw part of a claw hammer.

One on my head from when a horse went for me when I was 5.

One on my knee from splitting it open when I was 5.

One on my other knee from a drunken fall.

One on my hand from an accident when I was 5.

One on my face from my sister biting me as a kid.

Few on my arm from burns in an old job.

Several on my thighs from about 10 years ago

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,646 ✭✭✭✭qo2cj1dsne8y4k

2 on my right ankle, one each side. One just to the right of the veins on my left wrist where I fell throughout a glass door. Right elbow where I fell out of a tree. One small one on my right cheek where I tore it with my nail at 3 hours old, and it grew as I did. Small one under my left thumb from accident with the glass door. My right finger finger had the top sown on after an accident with machinery on my dad she farm when I was 2. Belly button from an infected piercing that I had to get cut out of me. Few more tiny ones on my knees from falling as a kid

I haven't got any major ones.

I've a small one under my right eye. A cousin hit my head against the edge of a door or something when we were little. On top of the usual minor childhood knee scars, I've one from when another cousin pushed me down a plank with a rusty nail at the end.

Needless to say, I don't talk to that side of the family anymore.

I have a scar on my forehead as a result of being hit by a boxset of Harry Potter films.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,510 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

One above my eyebrow from a clash of heads at football. Remember going down and by the time I came around, I had a crowd around me. I got to my feet and was holding my hand over it. They asked me to take my hand away so they could have a look. What followed was brilliant. Blood just started squirting out and covered the physio's face. Very surreal seeing that.

Have a feint one on/just above my lip from it being bust open during a match.

Have one on my eyebrow too. Walked into a fist on a night out and had to get stitches. Hair never grew back. It happened when it was "fashionable" to shave off a bit of your eyebrow, so for a while, I looked trendy. Not so much now.

A few more dotted around the place from football but no major ones.

I was an extremely skilful hurler in my youth, and was drafted into our club's senior side at the age of 17. During one game, I was marking a big thick lump of mediocrity who just could't cope with my athleticism and skill. I told him as much. The ball went up the other end of the pitch and the guy stuck me across the back of the left leg with his hurl. I was left with a large gash that subsequently became infected. It cleared up, but I was left with a slight scar. I massage vitamin e cream into it daily.

The guy who hit me was sent off. His career was already in the twilight, and I wasn't at all surprised to hear that he died of a massive heart-attack a few years ago while in his mid-40's.

Also have red oven baking tray scars on both forearms.

You too watched " Kung Fu " ....? Roll of wall paper and a hot baking tray?

Some on my hand when I stupidly punched a glass door

Trick is to punch. Then stand there, quivering like Bruce Lee. A sort of " Ohhhhhhh!!!!!!! " sound, while stood there can be good too. Impress the f**k out of most onlookers.

Fist connecting with and smashing the glass out of its way is fine. See? It's the withdrawal, through a hole, now edged with really spiky, sharp and nasty glass that does the damage. Slice yeself to ribbons quickly pulling ye fist back :(

Me? Dog bites. And some lovely cuts to my right forearm. Another World Class glass punching idiot, in my time

One on my arm from when I got stabbed by a school bag. Yup, a schoolbag. Several on my forehead from running into things as a kid. One on the back of my head that is only visible when I get a tight haircut. No idea where that one came from. Few of my friends have a similar one on the back of their heads.
