Just finished exam week. Crammed for hours. Sleep deprived. Fatigued. Sleep cycle disrupted. Disoriented daydreams. Nightmares. Ever gone for days with little sleep? Jeffrey S. Durmer and David F. Dinges (2005) suggest in Neurocognitive Consequences of Sleep Deprivation "Sleep deprivation studies repeatedly show a variable (negative) impact on mood, cognitive performance, and motor function due to an increasing sleep propensity and destabilization of the wake state." Ironic that universities have exam week? What do they measure? Performance? Or sleep deprivation effects?
