Driving test procedure

Hello folks, what is the story with this test, why do they ask me to sign the feedback form BEFORE the test every time? Why do they refuse to give the points at the end? Why do they come up with random excuse? Contradicting things each time with different tester?
Recently, I had two different testers tell me while doing the reverse corner "There is a car coming", yes I saw the car, it was just when I was starting to reverse and I STOPPED. He didn't have to say it coz I stopped. And it was a street away separated by a junction.
Back in the centre they said they told me there is a car.
Is this the way they do to fail people?!!! Tricks to give as excuses? Once they said was slow, once fast, once looked longer, once shorter, once looked at the gear, once should just drive straight, once blablablabla.
What is the story with quotas?!!! Can these people get paid without having to fail me 5 times? Any other way to get their salary?

by the way I am talking to you, Finglas, talking to you Raheny. What a shame, driving is a civil right, Shame on you, I have been driving since 15 years with many foreign licenses. I spent a fortune to do the requirements, I took days off to attend these tests and train, I spent a fortune. I hope you never enjoy my money if you fail me for random reasons, for no evidence, for opinion, for pass quotas, for making money, I hope you spend it on non enjoyment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,323 ✭✭✭davo2001

    driving is a civil right

    Eh, no it isn't.

Sorry but your attitude stinks, if you think about it, at least two separate testers at two separate centres have failed you, probably for good reason.

    You are the common issue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭John_caffrey

wrong, people did it over 5 times including myself. Listen to the points I said. You are not here as well to judge me. You are not the one to dedicate a day and ask someone to come with you each time and pay a fortune, only to get random points how they like coz Quotas, coz They think so.

So you failed the test 5 times and the test centres are the problem???

I think you will find that your driving is the problem.

not just me, and no, I drive perfect. You guys work for the company for sure.

Well I can assure you I don't work for "the company" as you put it. Just because others are failing the test numerous times like you doesn't mean you and those other drivers are good drivers. If you drive so perfect then you would have passed your test by now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭John_caffrey

I told you many wrong doings, including asking ppl to sign feedback BEFORE the test, forcing them to do so, told you there is no evidence and they follow quotas, told you people always feel racism, told you it is too much money

So now your pulling the racism card. They are failing you because your driving is not up to standard, not because of your race!
Its only too much money if you are always getting lessons and not learning anything.

So now its all a big conspiracy and we are all out to get you

Seriously you need to take a step back and realise that you have failed the test at least 5 times now which means your driving is not of the required standard to pass the test, its as plain and simple as that. Or is it that you just want to be handed a licence because you claim to be a "Perfect" driver?? If your such a perfect driver why don't you become a driving instructor or even a driving tester.

John, I dont know why you failed but maybe you can contact your instructor and you guys can work on what happened?

Please don't start other threads, keep all your comments in this thread only.

guys above, do you often reply as soon as there is a post? to clean certain agencies image???
I am telling you it is unfair, for example, while reversing there was a car very far behind, separated by a junction, and straight away the guy said there is a car careful. Well ok, yes I saw it and stopped.
You didn't have to tell me I guess?? Back in the centre, it was a red mark fail he gave!! This is the second time, ppl like this jump in the car knowing they have a pass quota to obey. And opens his mouth just to give an excuse.
They are trained how to fail

If you and other people are up in arms thinking there's a conspiracy, I hope to high hell you all keep on failing with that attitude.

Go take a look at my posting history and you will see I have no affiliation to the driving test centre.
What category was the red mark fail under on the results sheet?

Nobody is trying to bring you down, you need to stop with this attitude of the world being against you because I can assure you its not. You came here looking for help and I pointed out to you very early on that your driving is not of the required standard to pass the test so you have to go and get more lessons at this point.

It was deleted because you had 2 threads on the same thing.

No one is bullying you. Read through this forum and you'll notice people who've failed post here plenty, looking to get one over the RSA. But when they talk about their issues, a lot of people here point out where the failings where, and those posters get in a huff, just as you have.

I'm from Cabra & I've failed 6 times :o *so don't think racism is at play.... Last 2 times they told me I'm a good driver but on one test I got stuck in a junction & he had to give me an automatic fail. I don't think that I'm being scammed although the price each time is eye watering. Keep at it OP, the stars will align one of these days. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

*Yes, I am scarlet for myself

thanks of course any suggestion is welcome, but not by starting to say ppl like me stink, are bad drivers, they are great, they are right... I am telling you there is a wrong procedure in doing things at the centre. People shldnt be every time forced to sign a form BEFORE the test. They shldnt be subject to pass/fail quotas. They shldnt have to wait 5 months to do a test.
They shldnt pay this much, shldnt have to pay PRETEST car/colleague of theirs (someone said they always change in and out as tester/instructor, maybe Im wrong). Not fair to give ppl 5 points on something just to fail them.

What's the feedback form ? I wasn't asked to fill out anything when I did my test. Although it wasn't in the test center you did your test in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭taylor3

I failed my driving test the first time I did it. Like you I failed at the reversing around the corner and I can honestly say I made a dog's ear of it. I honestly deserved to fail it. Took it on the chin was annoyed and fed up but second time round I did more lessons and training and I passed. I really and truly don't think there is an agenda or conspiracy. What exactly was the red fail mark for? Maybe get further lessons and work on that point. If you are a competent driver you will justifiably pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭John_caffrey

Loads of preparation, not only me, many others, loads of studying, answering great, walking great, attitude great, they want to fail they want to fail. My frds who are foreign are also highly educated. One guy did it over 10 times for no reason... almost got a trauma, shame shame shame shame

Maybe there was a different car you hadn't seen.

What does your ADI say during your lessons, they should be telling you when you are ready for the test, and after reviewing the fail sheet?

You're signing at the start to confirm the car you're driving in a safe condition and that you're insured to drive it.

    You've gotta be trolling me.

There's no conspiracy. If you failed 5 times you obviously aren't good enough to drive. Have you done mock tests with your instructor?

sorry everyone knows there is a quota. Centres have 30-40%, others 70%. You can also see how many teenagers/locals pass at the centre each time, while highly skilled foreign ppl fail, everyone I tell gives this impression.

About reversing at the corner, they shldnt say anything specially when car is 150 m away and JUST APPEARED.
To take it as an excuse to say they failed someone.
People who are failing, please understand why, I understood why over time, and I am giving important points here, be careful what they tell you and how, this is very unfair.
As long as there isn't a camera, a neutral person, a proof, electronic recordings of driving marking and proof, it is in a huge part unfair

On another note from my memory I was asked to sign a form before leaving the test centre stating that my car was roadworthy, tax and insured. And once I was all finished he got me to sign my certificate of competence.

loads of preparation, driving around, watching videos, asking people, reading tests, signs,
you still don't get it that there is no MAJOR MISTAKE? everything followed correctly, stopping correctly, car doesn't turn off, stirring ok, reversing correct, curb correct, turnabout correct, indication, positioning, EVERYTHING

thank, i am talking about the feedback form, the one they said you did this and that etc. Should be signed AFTER THE TESt.
EACH TIME they insist of signing it BEFORE THE TEST, so like you agree in advance and not their fault. You won't believe how bad many are, everything done perfectly without mistakes. The blue marks are all opinions if he thought you looked shorter or longer than you should, quicker or slower, etc etc.

The form you sign is not a feedback form. What is the pass fail quota? What percentage must they fail?

It doesn't matter how far away it is - if you don't stop to show the examiner you're aware the car is there that's an automatic fail. Tough.

There's no quota but there's a lot of bad experiences with inconsistent and unfair treatment from testers. In a test situation you need to be better than competent to pass.

I failed myself a while back and the tester outright said to me at the end that I'm not there to prove I can drive I'm there to pass the test and you need to drive to a higher standard than you normally would. Despite starting the test with "Drive as you normally would".

Also said I should have done the turnabout in 3 turns and not 5 and marked me for it despite saying at the time "take as many turns as you need to".

You're not alone in having bad experiences but there's no conspiracy or quota.

One of the tests I did perfect, should be in an ideal video example for learners.
Then back to the centre, the tester said "oh you could go a little faster sometimes".
aNOTHER time the lady said "you went out of the junction a BIT fast", but hey, she game me a red mark. Thank you kind people, take my money, my hard earned money

Even if there were quotas they wouldn't be failing people on their 4th/5th test to meet them.

You just need to go over the marks with an instructor and learn from them and how to correct them the next time regardless of how unfair you think they were.

What? My friend is Irish and she failed 5 times before she finally passed because she wasn't good enough, nothing to do with where she was born. She has passed now but I can still see why she failed so many times. I don't feel safe in a car with her honestly.

I passed first time, because I was adequately prepared for the test, no other reason. If there is these quotas you talk about, why did I, my sister, my mother, my father, my brother, my uncle...I could go on... all pass first time? Yet four of my friends...all Irish...all failed 2+ times each. You need to do some pre tests.[/quote]
maybe coz you are locals, compared to foreign looking ppl, People said the same thing again and again. The driving license also has place of birth, not citizenship, which is strange.

My first car test I'd done loads of driving around but no lessons and I failed. Unless you are getting lessons from an ADI you are not going to pass the test. You obviously aren't doing these things correctly if you are failing.

It has nothing to do with you being foreign so you might as well drop that now.

YOu still haven't answered numerous questions here, instead you just rant on about how the world is against you.

I will ask you one last time, How many driving lessons have you taken? When was your last lesson?

No they do, I think they don;'t have access to the test history of an individual. So I'd say 80% of chance the quota often hits certain individuals.

They will have access to your entire test history and will look at it before your test!!!
