    I honestly think those style of indicators look gimmicky.

    Putting LEDs in brings some benefits, and of course once you're working with LEDs it makes it relatively easy to do stuff like that. But the directional element brings no additional function or benefit, and does bring complexity into the design and overhead.

    Especially when these are external kit, and part of the signalling/safety system I really don't see the point, and see certain negatives.

    That said, I like a nice LED show as much as the next guy...

    On youtube to be honest it looks a bit silly but in real life it actually looks nice.
    From a safety perspective, yeah it might not be as great, it would be interesting to see some tests on that in the future.


    As regarding to the fuel economy, I keep thinking of buying a 1.0 tsi and switch it over to lpg (gas). I switched 2 cars already and I was very pleased with the results.

    48mpg isn't bad at all. I wouldn't compare these modern small capacity petrol turbos to diesels. The more correct benchmark is a n/a 1.6 petrol I'd suggest which would have comparable performance.

    I know what you mean, I'm almost in that camp too! (however there are some performance/handling benefits to alloys that sort of make a functional case for their use; plus you really get to see the alloys your self every time you approach the car, you almost never get to see the indicators on your own car operating).

    It's a personal thing really (and truly), and while I believe I've a point (not that they're less safe per-se, just that unnecessary elaboration/complication of safety systems is unwise), I also feel like a bit of a curmudgeon bringing it up ;)

    Traded in my 152 Golf Tdi for one of these hope to have it later this week .. not doing the mileage now to get another diesel ..

    We have the 1.0 tsi in our Octavia. It’s brilliant! It’s used mainly on short daily runs, we’re getting 45mpg.

    There’s a nice bit of welly in it for a family hatchback too. We went to France last year on holidays and there wasn’t a bother on it on the motorways either with a full load.

    It’s perfect for our needs - parents with a 6 and 3 year old.
