I was in stitches laughing when Seaamus asked Aine if she expected a Blue Peter badge. It's a shame he didn't stay on the line longer. I was really hoping he'd go into full Jack Nicholson mode : D

I suppose this new thread is as good as any other.
    Out with the old!
<pity about the typo in the heading, though>

I always felt uneasy about our Finance Minister missing a number out every time he mentioned a year. Imagine if he left a number out every time he prepared a budget?

Then, Joseph started doing it. It's NOT 217. It's 2017.

They're all at it now. I can't remember the last time I heard a politician actually say a 21st century year correctly.

This sloppy vile habit will probably stick until the end of 299. :D

Poor Aine The Hero sounded like she needed a good ride to release some of that built up anger.

Actually, back in Old God's time, she would probably qualify for an exorcism

I just read the end of the last thread and came across these two contributions from yesterday, referring to a Liveline caller. I couldn't figure out how to quote them directly.

All I can say is Wow ..... Just Wow.

I couldn't figure out how to quote them directly.

You can use the simple quoting facility built in but craft it manually, like so...
[ quote ] but remove the spaces in the bracketed section [ / quote ]

or attribute the quote more accurately like so...

[spaceQUOTE=dxhound2005;space103573666space ]remove the spaces in the bracketed section [ / quote ]

There's an article and photo of Aine The Hero in that rag that Duffy 'writes' for, today.

(saw it on the Luas, somebody had left it on a seat with that page open)

Much as I'm reluctant to give that rag a single click, anyone have a link to this article? Is it even online? No amount of googling has found it for me so far.

I heard a bit of the first interview with St. Aine the Hysterical, and had to turn her off - life's just far too short for listening to that sort of ****e. Didn't hear any of the update and can't bring myself to podcast it. But I'd like to read all about it if I could find it!

If nobody gets it in the meantime, I'll get a pic from my mother in law's copy tomorrow.

Have a listen to her second call. Priceless, specially trhe latter end.

I was listening back to Friday's show again when I was out for a walk earlier, I couldn't help laughing out loud at times..... I'd say there are a few people in my area who think I've completely lost the plot - walking along laughing away :o

I didn't hear all of PBH's shows but it was a strange (but entertaining) week with Aine and Gerry, the retired detective who saw the ghost of a priest.

Joe, post the article if you can, I wouldn't mind getting a gawk at Aine.

Anudder week of the full-time host tomorrow? Or will it be D'Omen, Alison or AN Udder?

AFAIK PBH said he was standing in for Joe for a couple of weeks.

I didn't like when Alison was presenting, she is nice but phoning the Persil Hotline would provide more entertainment.

Anyone know where Aine's shop is in Ranelagh?

I'm assuming it's on the other side of the the alleyway where Nick's Coffee is?There are a few benches there.

Only asking so I'll know to avoid it.

Or "REN-illa" as Joe pronounces it.

    That's a bit of a conceit on Joe's behalf.

As you may know, but just to point it out to others, those who like to describe themselves as 'old' Ranelagh pronounce it 'Renillah", whereas the pronunciation 'Ranellagh" is considered to be for students and blow-ins. Loads of other snobbery goes on too, like whether you drink in Birchalls and eat your dinner in the Wild Goose (Renlah folk) or whether you drink in the TapHouse and eat in Tribeca (blow-ins). The there's 'The Hill' for those who are truly beyond the pale, in class terms.

Lovely village but dripping with snobbery, even between fellow middle class people. Beyond childish.

Joe, of course, is a Renlah man, mar dhea.

Sure it was caller, sure it was. Heidi I'd say your upbringing was as Posh as Joe's was poor so to speak......;)

Joe's chislers however have grown up like Baron Trump (they both have thick, ignorant, rich men for daddies so to speak).

You KNOW I'm joking! I would never insult you like that!
