Don't have time for a preview I'm afraid.

6-2 split, opensides galore, Molony over Toner, probably raining, if forwards win you games, Scarlets good, Leinster haven't lost in the RDS in over 2 years, home side win semis

Does anyone else find it weird that Newport Gwent Dragons logo is a tail, and Scarlett's logo is a Dragon?

Team announcements these days are showing a distinct lack of Ferg.

I've nothing else to add, Leinster by 15+

Also god love the poor Dragons pack when Leavy and SOB get released from the bench.

leinster gone from -13 to -11 after team announcements.

will probably get shorter the closer to KO if these thunder storms happen

    No Ferg.

If he's injured for the final, I'd expect a run on the Euro as people look for the safety of the Swiss franc.

Does he really deserve to be in the team at the moment? I haven't seen much from him when he has played and it's not really the time of year to be hoping players hit form

ROL is named at 23 in the table in the OP. Did I miss something, or is this a typo?

Molloy's tables are style over substance.

Why this doesn't get talked about more is beyond me

    Leinster v Scarlet
    15/1 odds then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,761 ✭✭✭✭Winters

    The line up in numbers..

    17/23 Ireland capped players (74%)
19/23 Internationally capped players - added Isa and Zane (83%)

15/23 Players who have only ever played for Leinster (65%)
16/23 Leinster developed players - added Sexton (70%)
    17/23 Ireland developed players - added Henshaw(74%)
19/23 Irish Eligible Players - JGP, Zane, Triggs and Isa NIQ (83%)

Not quite as indigenous as other line ups this season but still impressive.

From that photo it's hard to make out but I'm fairly sure it's a tattoo of Willy Nelson.

We need scorers and times. Literally anyone could guess the score correctly. There's no prizes for that kind of vague prediction.

The weather's been all over the shop the last few days. We could have rain for two hours followed by blazing sunshine for two hours. Just depends when it happens.

I unfortunately have to travel north of the wall tonight to have some dinner with some wildlings in Belfast. May not be able to catch any of the match at all.

However in terms of omens for tonight... the year I gave up my season ticket we stopped winning in Europe. I just purchased mine back for next year now that I've un-re-emmigrated, so we should be on track for a few more years of silverware.

SOB is out so Ross Byrne comes into the 23.

Things becoming a little bit worrying about him now.

Going with Byrne is curious and you'd wonder about just where the coaching team see Carbery in the pecking order at 10.

You'd wonder if SOB being on the bench was purely to see if he could get any match time.

For the final I can't see any spot in the 23 going to someone with injury doubts over them.

SOB must be a bit of a doubt for the Lions at this rate.

I'd be happy if he didn't go in his current state...
The update says he has a tight calf....which I reckon is BS.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,767 ✭✭✭✭molloyjh

He said before that if he got another hamstring injury he'd really have to consider calling it quits. I'm getting the impression then that any tightness or anything like that in the hamstrings and he's pulled. They don't want to take that risk. Thing is, if that is the case, you simply can't have a rugby career with it hanging over you like that.

I think it's more that with SOB fit it was very difficult to drop any back row. With SOB out a 6 2 split is no longer nearly as compelling.

I don't think Carbery has anything to do with it in all honestly.

The question was more why Byrne when we have multiple options for outhalf on the field and not ROL or McFadden.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

I guess they don't want to move Carbery from fullback unless they have to. Coaches often prefer to disrupt only one position instead of two. If McFadden came on for Sexton, there is twice as much reshuffling to be done.

Am I the only one scratching their head at the 2nd option being reverting to a 5-3 split? Surely the 6-2 split was tactical, why not replace SOB with one of the thousand backrowers we have?

It's his calf and they can be notoriously difficult to keep on top of. Same thing with Sexton recently.

Ryan, Murphy, Heaslip and now SOB are all injured. Ruddock, VdF, Conan and Leavy are already in the squad. That leaves Deegan and Timmins. They're very young and have very few senior starts between them. I'm not sure I'd go for a 6-2 split to include either of them in a SF. The benefits don't outweigh the risks like it does when doing it for someone like SOB.

Seems the game is on Sky Sports 1 and not Sky Sports 2 like the thread title states, just in case anyone is wondering why they're watching 70s rugby or tennis.

Early possible neck roll there by ... Sexton I think it was? Borderline maybe to be fair.
