Amy Acker is set to play opposite True Blood?s Stephen Moyer in Fox?s as-yet-untitled Marvel drama pilot.

Penned by Matt Nix (Burn Notice), the projects focuses on two ordinary parents (played by Acker and Moyer) who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

Per THR.com, Acker?s character, Kate Stewart, is in the midst of a separation from her husband Reed when their family situation takes a dark turn. She in turn discovers that she is stronger than she thinks.

The cast also includes Jamie Chung (Gotham) as Teleporter Blink, Blair Redford (Switched at Birth) as the Native American leader of the aforementioned underground network, Sean Teale (Reign, Incorporated) as a mutant with the ability to absorb and manipulate photons, and Natalie Alyn Lind (The Goldbergs) as one of the Stewarts? kids.

A great pilot which you don't need to know anything about the X-Men to like and enjoy it.

Loved it. Great cast, great premise, so hopefully it can keep up the momentum.

I really enjoyed that. Loved the show of power at the end and Reed and Eclipse just looking like wtf is this kid.

Jesus that was excellent. Loved it.

Anyone notice the name of the bar when Stan Lee walked out? It was TEX'S LOUNGE but the T and E were flakey so it was X'S LOUNGE. Very clever. :)

much more interesting show than the Inhumans

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,560 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

    Liked it.
Didn't realise Singer was directing it or that it's a Matt Nix show. Guess that explains Jesse having a big part.

The XMen theme ringtone made me smile.

Always nice to see Jamie Chung and Amy Acker.

How long until we see talk of a Legion crossover?

Nice wee post credits scene as well. Or was it a previously released teaser?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    That was good! :)

Also thought it was cool to hear the animated x-men theme song being used a ring tone in one of the scenes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Episode 2 was just as good if not better than the opening one.

Another really top class episode this week Fox have a winner on their hands.

The Fox film division need to look at the TV division on how to make an exciting X-Men story.

Legion and now this Fox tv is where the X-Men are at.

That was a fantastic episode. The last 20 minutes were very well done.

Have you seen the trailers for New Mutants? That looks like it could be something really different. (Though I was surprised to learn the very light-skinned doctor is supposed to be Cecilia Reyes.)

It did look different and had the same kind of feel to these two shows and hopefully it does but I'm not letting a trailer fool me that's happened way to many times mind you it's mostly with DC doing it :)

Just caught up. Pulse reminds me of the Morph story from animated X-Men! :)

One thing that I got stuck on was watching the
bullet surgery.. I was like.. eh that was a bit fast to stitch up both and artery and yer mans belly.. so eh.. it looks like ye've left him there with a bit of internal bleeding.
I imagine their cover is that they just sped up time for that scene or something.

Seriously enjoying this series and the amount of easter eggs dropped every episode is crazy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,560 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

At first I thought Esme's intentions were just to lure them all into a trap, which is why she suggested the kids go. Though she seemed really sincere about her family. Maybe they made a deal with her.

Hope this whole series doesn't just turn into constant capturing and rescuing of mutants.

This show needs more Emma Roberts to hurl insults at Skyler Samuel.

Good episode... i was definitely wondering how much damage the Stucker kids could have done...
as has been pointed out above... "Hope this whole series doesn't just turn into constant capturing and rescuing of mutants."

Caught up on the last 3 episodes last night. Great mid-season finale.

Back on January 1st, so not too long to wait.

    Just caught up!

Good quality so far. They're doing well with what feels like a medium level budget.
This telepath is new to me. Also wondering if they are triplets or she can make copies.

That was a great return episode.

Hopefully when the Disney deal go through they will keep Matt Nix on and let him run with more Marvel stuff.

I love their manner of speaking!
Also Esme going "UGH" when Phoebe and Sophie corrected her on saying "we" were there

Skyler Samuels has been brilliant since getting cast in her role.

I'm a couple of episodes behind everyone, and by and large this is a very decent show. It feels very ... old-fashioned if you know what I mean? Like they're intentionally leaning into some of the facets of the comics more than other adaptations tend to - little things, such as how they straight-faced call each other by their mutant names.

That said, some of the 'powers' FX can be a bit ropey, equally too the dialogue, which can be reallllly bad; sometimes it feels like everyone's talking in a series of declarations or expositions. And if one more characters tells another how "we're at war..." I might scream at the telly :)

A solid ending to the season which was surprisingly good.

I loved all the Easter eggs throughout the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    It was decent.

The standoff at the end felt a bit forced.
Also the bit where she pulled the airplane down looked like it ran outta money with the special effects and their jeep not taking damage
I loved all the Easter eggs throughout the season.

Not sure I got many. X-Men and Trask for sure. Is..
Magneto the one who we're supposed to think is her father?

This didn't feel as good as Legion but.. you know.. was decent enough.

She consistently quotes him or talks in a way he would. Also in the final episode where she in in hospital/prison and the lawyer comes to visit she is levitating an object that looks like a miniature
    Magneto's helmet
