    Do you trust the garda pulse system?

    My concerns would be with the users rather then the system.

    Spoke to a Garda earlier and I checked his pulse and it seemed to work the exact same as mine so I would trust his pulse system.

    Read the title as Garda plus, thought they were rolling out a new line of premium, more expensive gardaí with extra features!

    I'm sure the computer programmers did a good job.
    Then they handed it over.

    Well I'd need to know more about the hardware it's running on, how robust it is, downtime statistics, probably some DB side reports.......this trusting of software has started to turn into a project.

    Not sure what does trust mean. I mean, I presume the info on it is true and accurate. I suspect it might carry info that people would be surprised to see, such as incidents where no charges were brought or a defence was successful.

    A friend of mine got his garda data pulse system records back and it hand information on his garda pulse records. that he was Questioned in relation to an alleged offence and a Date. he was shocked as he was out of Ireland at the time of the alleged offence and could not have even being interviewed by garda and the first he found out about this was when he applied for his garda pulse records.

    OP you seem to have an awful lot of "friends" who have reported having dodgy dealings with Gardai in various scenarios.

    Maybe it might be time to take a look at the company you keep?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,646 ✭✭✭✭qo2cj1dsne8y4k

    Apparently you can see if there was an inquiry made, so say if someone looked me up, the next time I'm looked up they'll see I was looked up before?

    Anyway what's the story with all the gardai threads?

    Is this the thing that supposedly scans your number plate.

    Cause I've been driving round with no nct for months now.

    At first I was all 'uh oh'

    but then I was like 'Ireland'.

    APNR is the reg thingy ;)

    Pulse is the computer system the guards use to keep track of everything.

    Is APNR similar to ANPR ? And does it have a PULSE ?

    Stop with your agenda, you're making nonsense up again, like yesterday when you said a pub owner was getting his Garda friends to look up his customers on pulse so he could find out about them.

    How could anyone trust it or anything to do with the Guards. You would have to wonder what they have on members of the government given their reluctance to act & sack the commissioner.

    No i wouldnt trust the pulse system OP, who checks the information that's put there, a super?
    Also a word of caution on data access request for AGS, if there isn't anything there you'll be creating a file on yourself!

    A file that says "this person has requested their personal information". so what?

    "So what", to a police force thats rotten,Id rather have no trace with AGS than having a file with my personal details even just name address and D.O.B.
    AGS should've turned themselves inside out at start of the MC CABE scandal but no they just keep giving, all the while asking people not to break the law yet they're a law onto themselves. Can't wait for 2017 crime figure whether they'll be up or down who knows nothing to see here.

    I'm not you so I don't know! Id rather no trace personally at all.
    Who checks the info uploaded to pulse?Who knows what agenda is behind confidential sources to AGS members.

    After Todays News `Profile report on whistle blower Garda Keith Harrison on Garda data systems. Garda Keith Harrison only found this information last week through legal team under a data protection request by the legal team . That a`Profile is normally only created on individual in circumstances where they are a suspect in criminal or gang-related crime or become of interest to gardai, the whistleblowers solicitor said. So do you now trust garda data? our the garda pulse system?

    Yep because I've never come to the attention of the gardai

    http://www.iccl.ie/gardaí-2.html

    "What type of information about me can the PULSE system hold?
    The PULSE system contains information about:
    recording crime;
    traffic management;
    progression of criminal cases through the courts, including the outcome;
    firearms licensing;
    driver licences;
    insurance;
    character vetting.
    The PULSE system must follow the rules of the Gardaí’s code of practice on data protection. This means that information can only be put on the system for a clearly stated purpose and there must be controls over who can see the information."

    Also to mention, entry of kids to pulse
    https://www.google.ie/amp/s/www.irishtimes.com/news/social-affairs/cork-mother-to-sue-state-over-pulse-entries-1.1968121%3Fmode%3Damp

    Were the 1,000,000 false breath tests not recorded on pulse, so that's on million pieces of false information on the system. Then there is this.
    Cork mother to sue State over Pulse entries
    Children aged four and five had been put on Garda database and given criminal tags.

    I can only imagine what we don't know. Would Sergeant Maurice McCabe have paedophile allagation against him on the system?

    How often is it accessed wrongly, members stalking exes, passing confidential information to private investigators and insurance companies?

    Not really a trustworthy system in my opinion.

    I trust the decent guards but I don't trust them to side with the public over a bad apple abusing the system.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 646 ✭✭✭koumi

    Yep because I've never come to the attention of the gardai
    I've never had any dealings with the law in any way, but that I made a data access request last year just to be sure all was well. (mostly as a result of the actions of my former employer who would have been well connected) I don't trust the people with access to the system.
