He's fallen into the modern day category of being a "character" rather then comedian.

Years ago, I remember watching an episode of QI with Seann Walsh and Phill Jupitus (double 'L') on as guests. For whatever reason, I had the subtitles on, but any time their names were mentioned, the person doing the subtitles typed 'Seannn' and 'Philll'.
