    Just wondering whether anyone has any recommendations for one that is particularly good for identifying Irish birds?

    i have one simply called 'irish birds' written by a michael hearne. it's not bad, cleanly designed.

    Hard to beat a pocket guide - I still have my "Observer's Book of Birds" from the late 1960s.

    I use the RSPB's site, they have sound clips and descriptions along with a link to similar birds to help identify them. It's very useful I think. It even has a bird identifier section to narrow down what you think it could be
