Get into enough trouble on the "Bright Web". Going onto the dark version could be suicidal.

Took a look on the silk road years back. That was the extent of my browsing. Heard of some mental stuff on it though

I heard you can get Fairtrade Cocaine where they guarantee that the money goes directly to the producer and not any cartel or otherwise less than reputable organisation.

My mistress brought me to the dark web one time... The pleasure was Immense.

It's not that saucy. It's pretty much a place to buy anything you want - it's crazy to see things like crystal meth, methadone and heroin for sale the same way you'd see shoes for sale elsewhere. You can buy fake bank accounts and passports and guns and basically everything you need to be a criminal.
The transactions and payment etc are very secure.
However, you're still not going to get a big lump of coke delivered to your house by the postman.

I don't understand how these things get by customs though. I bought a topical skin cream on the regular internet that requires a prescription in Ireland but it was apprehended and lost me money. Should I have bought it off the dark net instead ?

You should have got them to label the contents as cocaine.

Luck of the draw I'd say if it gets through or not...

I'd say their packaging is more discreet, being drug dealers and all that jazz I'm sure they are used to being discreet in their dodgy dealings... :)

Now Erica, is this just as easy as googling 'dark web' and following the links or are there other nefarious ways of entering?

And by the way, do I clear my cookies history on leaving?
    Thanks.

Well for starters, you need Tor browser, there may be other browsers you can use (and I don't mean firefox or chrome) but it's the only one I'm aware of.
And I'm not sure how much information I'm allowed post on here about it so I'm going to leave it at that. Basically, it's not easy to get into.

You need to use tor browser and enable it's vpn. Its a waste of time. I tried a few times and each time I was left disappointed.

I used to browse the dark web from time to time. Haven't looked at it in a few years now. It's difficult to navigate around as you have to use the TOR web browser and that's like using a browser that is 20 years out of date. I can't exactly remember but I think I used a search engine called DuckDuck to try find stuf on it.

It's mad the stuff that you can find on it. Pretty much every illegal item you can think of is for sale there. Very easy to get ripped off though. Imagine ordering a gun or drugs and not receiving them. Kind of hard to get your bitcoin back. And it's not like you can get onto consumer affairs or the Gardaí to let them know you've been ripped off. "Hey Mr. Garda, yer man never delivered my drugs".

I'd say it is even more unsafe nowadays, considering the efforts that the US are putting into cracking.

Last time I went browsing the 'dark web', I found an auction listing for some vellum made with human skin. Fancy!

I use it regularly enough to buy drugs. If you search by an irish seller, the package won't go through customs and it arrives within a day or two. You never get ripped off as the sellers work off reputation like on ebay. Less than 5 star reputation means they won't get business. Its in their best interest to provide you with quality product that will definitely arrive. A new seller will provide cheap samples at first to get their reputation up. I've avoided getting large packages for obvious paranoid reasons. Its the best thing to ever happen to drug dealing. Everything else on the dark web I've ignored; I imagine it would be quite difficult to get a grenade through customs.

Someone who isn't me has had various types of drugs delivered, never been stopped. When you think about it, a gram of cocaine or something is never going to be detected with the amount of international mail that comes into the country, must be very low odds. The sellers have ratings like ebay so you know if they're for real or not. You can get very high quality stuff and not the rubbish they sell in Ireland, so I'm told. It's one way of keeping money from the Kinahans anyway :)

So once you opne the Tor browser, where do you then? Is thee a dark web ebay equivalent?

Even if the package does get caught, you aren't liable for someone sending you something illegal. Anybody could send you something illegal without your knowledge.

Something very trap-ish about the whole thing.

Google/Microsoft/US govt already has its head far enough up my hole.

I watch something on one website today, next day theres clips of it in my suggestions on youtube.

Dark web seems to be a bit like 'hey if you like illegal stuff just download this' its totally anonymous, promise.

Maybe if I bought a dedicated laptop and never connected it to my home modem, but really no need for lsd or a balkan automatic rifle at this time.

You can use tor browser (which is basically firefox) to browse the (normal) web anonymously. It will be a bit slower because of your traffic getting bounced all over the world tho.

Ordering anything from Dark Web after exploit is incredibly stupid (IMO)...do you believe it will get through Irish customs?

Honestly, after watching those episodes of Border Security Australia, Canada, and 'Stop Search Seize' (Irish version) where they stop ingenious smuggling methods, I am baffled as to how anyone could be brave enough to still order from the Silk Road.

Exactly and also the Dark Web 'died' in a semi-literal sense...

There are mostly dead links and I believe honeypots set up by government agencies..

Yes I'd imagine like the regular web most content on the dark web is pornographic i.e child porn.

Hopefully the NSA can figure out a way to find the child pornography creators and users using TOR.
