or are you just not impressed by it all

Out in the sun, or otherwise, every day. Walking, gardening, fishing etc.

This is hardly a scorcher. There is a lazy wind about today. It's warmer than of late but not a heatwave yet.

You can thank me for the weather. I have 5 exams back to back next week. My alarm currently goes off at 4.30am and I'm as white as a white thing.

It might only be 14* but its a nice change with the overcast skies finally cleared up

Don't think it's gone north of 16° in Dublin but very rare to have blue blue skies so many days on the bounce.

I've stripped down to me jocks and have me chest out. Scorcher weather tis like the Bahamas so it is.

There is a cold enough breeze out there at the moment. But it is a lovely looking day and that is good enough for me.
And no water charges - I can fill up the paddling pool for free!!

It's sunny and nice to see blue skies, but it's a long way from a scorcher! Highest it hit today was 16c.
I did make sure an get out in it at lunch time, and walked home instead of getting the bus.

my kiddo is the doing the same, she has butt hurt. Meanwhile I've been doing the garden and got so warm yesterday after I had done tidying up I beached myself under the shade of a tree and cooled down with some tunes. I did manage to encourage her to have her lunch out there, with some vitamin D for good measure. Think it made all the difference. Best of luck with the exams.

Seen a few around Dublin City doing almost this today, substitute jocks for tracksuit bottoms and it sums up about half of the guys on the Liffey boardwalk today at lunchtime.

Honestly my cycle home today was the worst one I've had in as long as I can remember. Whatever way the wind was blowing it was 100% against me, nightmare. In Winter the wind usually comes from the SW which suits me going home, which is uphill, today seemed to be the opposite.
Anyway it's not even warm, and it's going to get down to 3c tonight apparently. I appreciate there are no clouds, but it makes you realise how dull the weather is here in general when we're getting excited over this!

In fairness to him, it has been a 30mph N/NE wind steady all day. No fun even walking into it.

Looked fun, so I booked a half day tomorrow. I'll be there at 1, I'll bring a few cans myself sure we can make an afternoon/evening of it. Meant to be another 15c scorcher tomorrow I hear.

A week without rain in Ireland is considered a drought.

Enjoy the good weather - this being Ireland, it won't last indefinitely.

Hardly just a week. It was the driest April in over 40 years.

Sea swimming last night, but that would have happened regardless of the weather. Only extreme weather or a bad swell would have stopped it.

Off a few days so few things in garden to do, and more than likely leaving the car at home to walk to town.

At work though, weather like this can leave the place feeling like a furnace, so heartfelt for the days off.

Oh, and definitely showing some skin.

    It's been pleasant, not hot.

We haven't had a serious heatwave here since the summer of 2013.

Classic Exam Weather. Will drive you mad as you try to cram indoors during the scorching sunshine while everybody else in the world is having a carnival outside. Guaranteed to cloud over as you emerge from your last paper. Its a bit like Murphy's law and has happened to us all. Good luck with your exams and it's actually quite cool outside if you manage to get outdoors during daylight anytime in the near future.:D:D:D

Always happens exam time. Glad I'm done with all that, but I did have to suffer in my day!

It is not hot yet though. Don't know what ye're all suffering! Sunny and bright, but hot it ain't yet.

Still cool, bright and dry is way better than gales and rain right.

It's getting cold at night. Apparently Glasgow was 0 degrees last night and will be 18 degrees later today.
That is a big swing in temperatures.
So- wear the shorts but have the woolly jumper on standby.

Anyone who uses the word "hot" to describe the weather recently must have never left Ireland for a warmer climate.

A bit warmer than last week is probably more apt :)

    Screw this wind though.

North Dublin is f*cking freezing today. The wind would cut through you. I just had to turn the heat on! Are we still having a heatwave?

It'll be back next week ;) (when everyone is in work and the kids are in school and people are sitting exams)

so for about 7 of the months in Ireland you'll need the heat on now and again, is that about right? I hate this climate!

My heating goes on for 9 months. June, july and august are the only months it wouldn't be on.

I don't think the temperature hit 20 degrees anywhere in Ireland in the last week. Maybe just about in some areas. Scorcher?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,520 ✭✭✭learn_more

One of the things that really depresses me about living in Ireland is the lack of direct sunlight. Not hot sunlight , just sunlight. Gloomy and overcast 24/7. Even when it's not raining. It's horribly depressing, I think I may be suffering from SAD. I saw a direct sunlight device for sale in ALDI the other day. Shouda bought one.
