Wonder what caused the cover to come off Ocon's car. Looked pretty dramatic.

Vandoorne gets Russian GP grid penalty... 15places (stupid should be just a time penalty at the end )

"Honda detected a suspected problem with the MGU-K on Vandoorne's car at the end of the first practice session, so will need to fit his car with a replacement unit. "

Ferrari seems to have to edge over Mercedes again, what is surprising as the cold weather was said to have favored Mercedes.

Am I the only one who finds his constant moaning annoying ? Not saying that brake issues don't dent a driver's confidence in the machinery. But he's like a broken record since last year.

They said the turbos are still fully functional so I presume the new ones were upgrades. It will hurt them if they have to reuse the first iterations later in the season when Mercedes will presumably be installing upgrades.

If this is anything to go by, the first half of the season might be Ferrari's best chance of good results. It might swing back to Mercedes

I just watched 11 minutes of FP3 while having a cup of tea. I counted 4 separate Grosjean Moaning radio messages in that time. I wish they would stop showing so many of them, it's tedious.

On a positive note, qualy could be tasty judging by how close they are. Even Kimi & Bottas!

No I doubt it I find it very annoying also. Much better if he just said we need to look at the brakes, or car balance or whatever it is thats not right with the car and find a solution to it with the team.

Yeah, he's up there with Hamilton when it comes to the tantrum style whinging.

Hamilton doesn't seem to be able to get it together this weekend at all. Kimi/Bottas - I forgot there was history there! Could be tasty indeed.

He made valid points not sure about the rap video style he chose to present it in.

Here's my moan about the moaners!!

Vandorne moaning about being caught on the straight yesterday was funny. You're not Alonso! Bite your lip and get on wth it.

Grojean's moaning is a little bit much. He could have a better tine in his messages. He's acting like a Diva, we have enough of those. He could have some courtesy for his engineers.

Sure Vettel isn't a saint, but it's nice to hear how gracious he is when he wins, a lot more genuine than Hamilton.

Yeah was just about to post, wasn't really a feature but more of a platform for a couple of EJ special predictions.

For anybody who missed it, EJ claims:
McLaren will use Mercedes engines next year. Sauber will take the Honda engine and Alonso will go to Renault.

KMag more than a second faster than Grosjean. That's what happens when you quit whining and just drive the car.

Everyone benefits except one of the Renault drivers. Mercedes sell more engines, McLaren get decent engines, Sauber get Honda backing (money and works engine support and the gamble that comes with Honda where it could come good and probably won't). Renault get Alonso and one of the Renault drivers gets the elbow. If Renault need Palmer's money to pay Alonso then Hulk finds himself taking whatever he can get again.

An Alonso - Hulkenberg pairing would be very nice at Renault.

There's not enough money in the world for Palmer to be in Renault next year. Even if they don't get Alonso, Palmer is a goner.

I'd be inclined to agree but that's what we'd have all said based on last year's performance. This year confirms that he wasn't a rough diamond, he's just a pay driver.

    Wow. Didn't expect Hamilton in 4th :D
Kimi upped his game, if not for the mistake at the end he might have just had enough to get pole. Vettel delivered though.

Ocon is gradually easing into this season, pretty close to Perez today & first time in Q3. He may yet prove to be an excellent addition for the team.

Agreed, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt last year as he had been a GP2 champion. I thought there was potential, in reality he's been an abject failure.

Delighted to see the two Ferrari's on the front row. Just a pity Kimi made that one mistake would have been nice to see him on pole but Vettel delivered and am delighted for him. Bottas done brilliant too. Don,t think Lewis got his car performing as good as he wanted too.

I remember the BBC 5 live team saying he's a slow burner and it took him a couple of seasons to show his speed in GP2. They thought Renault were right to give him a second year. That sounds like giving the British driver the benefit of a lot of doubt.
Given the speed of the prospects waiting in the wings, its no harm to keep trying new lads. The Palmer experiment is yielding results and they're not good for Palmer.

That would be great. Renault was my team when Alonso was there and I was very upset and disappointed when he went to Mclaren in 07 so was delighted when he came back to Renault in 08 and would be delighted to have him back there again.

He hasn't been at it all weekend. Still can't see Bottas giving him much of a challenge this year but I wonder if not having the huge rivalry he had with Rosberg has removed some motivation.

Hamilton has a long history of not turning up on certain occasions. At the last race in Bahrain, I knew he wouldnt win when he was tweating about his ex misses the day before. Now what bloke in their right mind would tweet about their ex??? Yes he nearly won in the end with the late charge but it was his own fault he was there in the first place.
Look back at every year of his career and there are numerous examples of carelessness and M.I.A, not to mention prone to countless gaffes off the track. Mentally he is very vulnerable and doesnt have good people around him to keep him right.

Funny enough he was asked about whether he would miss his rivalry wit Rosberg and he responded by saying, 'what rivalry? We drove into the same category for 18 seasons altogether and he beat me once. What rivalry?' #TeamLewisIsAPrick

Yes, it irritates me the way that Channel 4 ignores Bottas despite the fact that he has out qualified Hamilton again. It will be interesting to see if they continue to do this if Bottas passes Hamilton in the championship.
