Timber fishing boat

I have a 18ft philbin timber boat that I bought last year I have it sanded down and wood preservative on it and painted with sadolins I'm just wondering will I need to lacquer over the sadolins as well will this help the timber last longer any advice appreciated

I would have painted it with a silver metallic primer before painting it the primer is made up of little flat bits of metal that seal the pores in the timber and help stop water getting in I'm not sure what type of waterproofing you will get with sadolins, another option would have been to seal the boat with epoxy resin and then primer and paint. Lacquer is a very hard Finnish and might not like the movement of a timber boat it also reacts with a lot of paints.

Thanks fergal Is the metallic primer a clear finish trying to get the timber as natural looking as possible

No the primer is only if you want to paint it if you want to show the timber go with a yacht varnish.
