Velcro or leather

I'm thinking about getting a belt, I haven't used one for the last 3 or 4 years so I'm just a bit curious.
I squat and dead lift but nothing major.

I tried on a velcro belt at the gym and it was very comfortable and snug fitting much better than the leather from what I can remember from my previous gym days.

Whats the good and bad of each? I've heard the velcro can burst open when under pressure.
    Cheers

A velcro one won't have much of a lifespan. I did use one for quite some time though...not the same one mind. Probably got 9 months max out of each.

It also won't offer a huge amount of support if you're going heavy.

But if you're not and you want to dip your toe on the water, then give one a go. Consider it a starter belt.
