I caught The Night Before with Seth Rogen & Joseph Gordon Levitt last night, and it was...surprisingly decent. Given the subject matter I was honestly expecting something that drove me to quit watching within 10 minutes, but this was a lot quirkier and funnier than I anticipated. Rogen was better than expected too, playing at least a bit broader than the usual type I associate him with.

The Secret Scripture added today. Directed by Jim Sheridan from a book by Sebastian Barry.

The book itself was excellent, the sad tale of one woman's life that was completely derailed by interfering busy body neighbours and priests and various others. Although she's an unreliable narrator so there's always an element of doubt over it all.

HOWEVER.... it seems they've only kept the bare minimum of the book plot and turned it into some sort of love story, cast a sexy priest and moved to from the 1910s to the 1940s.

So, no idea if it's any good or not but it's there.

Godless was excellent. The thinking man’s (or woman’s) western. Stunning performances all round.

I wonder are they going to add the rest of the Star wars saga or are Disney not going to allow them.

Was in two minds about starting Godless the weekend but I think I'll definitely give it a watch

I remember thinking the end was one of the coolest things when I was younger, be interested to see if it holds up.

It's weird, they all disappeared from Sky Cinema the same time the new 1 landed on Netflix. I guess they're trying to cash in on DVD sales in the run up to the new release.

+1 on Jeff Daniels..... far cry from Harry Dunne! Really brilliantly shot first episode of Godless and lots of interesting character sub plots bubbling along under the surface. Really enjoying it.

I started watching but found it a real struggle to be honest. Something about the lighting.

Finished the first episode and I just loved it. I hope the rest are as good, I haven't looked at a western in a long time and this makes up for it. I was a little confused At first but it didn't take long to clarify what wad happening.

Perfect description of it. I don't think I'd bother if it was a weekly thing but being able to watch it over 2/3 nights is perfect. My wife watched the first 3 episodes of season 1 last night, she'll probably finish it tonight so we can then start season 2.

It really is a great film and Brosnan & Russo just oozed old fashioned sex appeal in it.
