Davy Fitz (Mod Note Post #1)

High time this fella was penalized for his behaviour on the sideline, today it extended beyond the sideline. He should be in the stand the next day.

Mod Note: Davy Fitzgerald is obviously a controversial figure and people will have strong opinions about him. Just a reminder that personal abuse of managers is not allowed and will probably end up in the poster being banned.

He should and so should the ref. Missed 3 blatant fouls in the lead up to the goal

Agree with you, he's an awful ref. Has made some bad calls against Tipp also mind you and I have yet to see Michael Ryan coming onto the field shouting at him and shouldering Wexford players.

He's riding Wexford. Bubbles should be back up in the stand. Only intent was to shoulder a prone man to the head.

He didn't shoulder him in the head though! Ref certain.y isn't riding Wexford no matter which way it can be looked at.

He can do as much whinging as he likes now. The game is up for Davy & Wexford.

Blatant red in the lead up to the second goal. The helmet was interfered with. Davy was well within his rights to be agitated, though he may have overstepped the mark by coming onto the field.

He had no intent on the ball. His only focus was on polaxing the Wexford player with a shoulder straight to the front of a player lifting the ball. A very dangerous tackle that deserved a red

That goal shouldn't have been allowed, but the other 4 were fine.

Fitzgerald doesn't have a goal scoring strategy and goals were what were needed today.

Dangerous yeah, red no. But it's off topic anyway, this is about Davy being unable to control himself in a high pressure situation.

In fairness to davy he was aproached twice by tipp payers. It was up to the officials to sort not the players.
The 2nd goal came from a very bad call from the ref and any manager would have been incensed.
the media cause a lot of the hype around davy, camera always seem to seek him out. Imo dan shanahan isnt much better on the sideline and even brian cody has had his day.
davy sholdnt have gone out but the abuse levelled at him on social media is way over the top.
no mention of his interview after the match which was great and then on the pitch surrounded by fans taking time for pics.

Nothing to do with davy or either team today.
I just think he gets a very bad press at times. Always the negative with davy.

No manager entering the field of play should be tolerated.

He definitely does get a lot of attention and it doesn't help his case.

He is still an absolute headerball thou

Agree with you but davy getting some abuse on social medis which imo is unfair considering
Hes not the only one who does it.

Ok i wont argue with you on this but surely you agree he doesnt deserve the abuse he' getting. My point still stands that he gets very little credit for the good he does.
I do think the media play a big role in this

Doesn't matter what happens on the pitch, the man should be able to control himself and not act like a petulant child.

You see theres the horrible name calling again. Dan shanahan isnt too shy on the sideline and yet I dont hear names thrown at him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 182 ✭✭casscass4444

They should put a couple of strands of electric fence around fitz on the sideline and turn it up to the last.couple of cracks off it and he wouldn't stray too far.
No way a manager should be on a pitch.hes a cuckoo pants.we all know that.pity he has no self control the header.
Danny the manny shanahan is no better the clown.running up and down the line like a total idiot carrying a hurl and his little baseball hateen on backwards to be mr cool.
Pity John Leahy wasn't around today to drive fitzy back into the stand.

No official should go on the pitch and definitely shouldn't throw a dig at a player, if that was any other sport/manager there'd be a massive ban in the works but shure it's Davy

No need to abuse the chap. A chap whose record speaks for itself. hurling would be a lot poorer for his absence if you ask me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,582 ✭✭✭ArielAtom

There is no defending his actions. A manager coming onto a pitch and getting involved with opposition players is unacceptable. There's passion n and then there's indiscipline. Hopefully a ban will be handed down.

Always pushing on his own players/trying organise them.....your comparing apples and oranges tbh

Cody has been giving guff to opposition players and managers for 20 years now and not a word about it.

    Davy is hot-headed.

"I love this game too much to let people get to me" as he said in that ad from years back. They all get to you Davy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 314 ✭✭Kitsunegari

I think he needs to not come onto the pitch but otherwise let him off. It's great to see his passion and how agitated he gets within the 70 minutes but other than his antics on the pitch it's fairly harmless stuff.

No need to ban him based on today.

Dan not too bad at shouting at refs either.
Yes I said already davy shouldnt have gone on pitch but he didnt go near tipp players. They came to him., and in al fairness it was an awful decision by ref.
I still say davy (or any manager) does not deserve the abuse he gets

Did you see tipp players aproach davy? I am not excusing him going onto pitch. I have a problem with the level of abuse/name calling.
it was shown again on sports news, yet again media on it and in his interview he said he was 100 % wrong to go on pitch.

So you are condoning him grabbing a players faceguard because they approached him? He also said he would do it again.

Nice to see Ken McGrath trotting out every cliche in the book, when asked if he should face any sanction on League Sunday.

    Ah shure lookit - Check
It was just Davy being Davy - Check
Wears his heart on his sleeve - Check
Maybe he over stepped the mark - Check

All that was missing was something about the hulers on the ditch and waiting in the long grass yada yada yada

Oh well. At least we don't have to listen to whinging from Davy about media bias from RTE, or the ever popular "dark forces" that are always out to get him.

That RTE (fadas not working on Boards) documentary on Davy Fitz last year was very disturbing. For the first time I wasn't laughing at his antics. The man is driving himself to an early grave, perpetually overwhelming himself. He needs to be protected from himself.

    Documentary on One: Davy Fitzgerald

A non player interfering with a player is absolutely not on, no excuses, no mitigating circumstances. It's completely indefensible.

How long was Galvin banned for for knocking the book from the referee? I'd say this is arguably worse. He should face a huge ban. It's an embarrassment to the GAA, in any sport it would be completely unthinkable.
