I like minella beau and red jack in the Cork and fairyhouse bumpers respectively. P Mullins said at the start of the year that he was most looking forward to riding on Minella beau. Red jack beating debuchet is great form. Let's dance should win. Yorkhill may well beat himself but I think he still has too much class compared to the rest.

Heard JP paid nearly a million for that bumper horse tomorrow, after it won Meade's phone was hopped out of it by O'Learys brother to buy it,

Lachares is running loose tomorrow with that weight in Cork.

Yeah serious talk about that Meade horse and the victory of Debuchet looks good.

Ive had my eye on Don't touch it for a while and expect him to win tomoro before stepping up in company at Punches town.
    I'll also be against Yorkhill.

Well you must have because he didn't pay anywhere close to a million for it. In fact he didn't pay anywhere close to 500k for it.

The most expensive NH horse I can remember was when McManus bought Garde Champetre for £505k at auction. That won a few Cheltenham cross country races, but came nowhere near to recouping the investment that went into it. I know with high flyers like McManus the game is about glory, but these people are (generally) not stupid and will generally try to get some sort of value for money. In practical terms, that means that the most promising horses will change hands for maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of a million Euro/Sterling. Sometimes a person like Potts or Connell will go mad (like Potts spending £480k on Flemenshill) but this sort of thing has always ended badly. With that said, the market is hot right now, so if Flemenshill cost £480k, so in a moment of madness, maybe McManus might spend a figure near that, but I would be shocked if it was anymore.

Going to fairyhouse later today. Any decent tips and does anyone know what the dress code is in a suite? Never been before.

Don't wear a tracksuit and a peak cap and you should be fine.

Yorkhill is a firework lit once a year at Cheltenham. Expecting the worst today but I think whatever happens is irrelevant in the grander scheme of things. Love the horse and hope he wins but wouldn't hold it against him if he doesn't. I have doubts whether Road To Respect can back up his Cheltenham win which was a huge run. Ball D'arc has been to every cock fight in the country at this stage and Anibale Fly wants it softer and probably further so I'm backing Some Plan (25/1) - way overs imo.

Jessie's well fancied in the bumper. Want to be a good one to beat Meade's.

Is it going to be all commentary today in fairyhouse?

Stewards enquiry for Vanishing Point in the first at cork please. Rotten drift at the off, ran held up with no intention to try to get it to win, finished like a train.

Ted said Mallow is a great track. It's a pity the race planners don't think the same - two maiden hunter chases on tomorrow's card wouldn't exactly have the crowds flocking to a track that deserves far better quality racing.

Listed race yesterday, grade 3 and Grade B handicap today. Hardly being given rubbish racing. Cheltenham itself has an all hunter chase card.

There's also two Point to Point bumpers on the card.

I would safely say that tomorrow will be better attended than yesterday in Cork.

There's a point to point evening similar to that in Cork every May in Tipperary and it would be one of the best attended meetings of the year there.

If it was taking place in my back garden, I wouldn't be arsed opening the curtains to watch it.

And people think that yoke has a chance in a Gold Cup

Hed have every chance left handed I'd say. He's obviously a headbanger but to jump like that and be ahead at the last before throwing it away and then nearly get back up shows what a massive engine he has

Only someone as clueless as you would think otherwise , he's absolutely fine going left handed and has a monstrous engine

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,269 ✭✭✭Gamebred

Went as expected, horse is a complete head case,

In saying that I will be still backing him around Cheltenham next season Ruby will bury him out the back again, serious engine to give that ground away and still nearly win.

If you think he's going to power up the hill pulling like he does in a GC you're deluded

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 164 ✭✭Massimo Tara

He made a mistake at the last which cost him the race. He covered far more ground than any other horse there and still only managed to be beaten by a nose. Can't wait to see himself and might bite against each other next season if both go for the GC

Lovely horse that Red Jack. I'm sure Dessie was calling the wrong Gigginstown one there.

Might Bite will set it up perfectly for him. Yorkhill will come to the last on the bridle, quicken past them like they're standing still and stay on up the hill to win the Gold Cup.

Aye that dinons finished very strongly. Interested to see how he fares in the future

Nice form boost for the Cheltenham bumper there with Red Jack winning

Next years Gold Cup could be a fairly good one, Yorkhill, Might Bite, Sizing John, Thistlecrack...

The Bay Oak has collapsed and died after winning the West Wales National at Ffos Las today

Red Jack looks an unreal prospect.

Ted's been itching to have a go at Yorkhill since he won the graded novice at Leopardstown in January. It must have stuck in his craw that he won the JLT at Cheltenham, so he took today's race to have a proper go at him.
Yorkhill is probably the most talented horse in training at the moment - his ability has to be fostered and harnessed in the right direction. No doubt Willie and Ruby can pull it off. Will be worth watching him win next year's Gold Cup just to keep Ted quiet.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,269 ✭✭✭Gamebred

Dont think we will see him going right handed again, will be unbeatable at Leop and Cheltenham probably.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,393 ✭✭✭PM me nudes

Mullins suggesting he could go back over hurdles

    God help us all

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,269 ✭✭✭Gamebred

Stupid Idea, he will jump out at his hurdles too and get hammered, keep him left handed, also considering last years post cheltenham performances could he not put him away till Punchestown no?
