Would it be a good idea to have a thread where we could post good value or deals in farming products that are available to the general public? I got two geared fencing reels in homeland for €25 each today that i saw in the paper, thought it was great value. Lots of deals we all miss so a little heads up here could do us all a favour!

Arrabawn have 'elephant' branded geared reels for €27. They are no Gallagher reel but at half the price ypu wouldn't expect them to be.

Funnily enough when I was looking for it I came across this link and this reel looks the exact same as the one I got from homeland. Some price difference.

Bought 20l of Roundup in Glanbia Ashford for €120, that seems like good value to me, though I haven't bought the stuff in ages. Did I get a bargain or is that the going rate? There was one left yesterday

Never heard of it. Active ingredient is glyphosate I presume? How much would it go for. Also, the father has always gone for the brand name of things, like a lot of us

We got one called Ardee, think it was 80 euro for 20 litres, does the job just as good as round up imo

Only problem is the packaging. Way too much wrapping on everything. Takes ages to open.

I came across this NH powerstar engine on ebay. It came out of a 7740, but I believe they will fit older ford tractors like a 7610 with a bit of guntering, if anyone is looking for one.

1950 pounds sterling collected. But needs injector pump and starter.

F.R.S. in Ballyjamesduff had rolls of Quinn bale wrap for sale yesterday for €47 inc V.A.T. Invoice and code provided. Last years stock as, I'm told, a bit of a clearance being done by manufacturers and they quitting selling wrap. It's not seconds but you pay your money and take your chance. Container load sold yesterday and I'm told another coming on Monday. Good saving even with 6 layers on bale instead of 4 if you worried about quality

Don't know if it has improved but last time we got Quinn wrap it kept snapping on the wrapper an issue I've never had before or after with any other brand. I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy it again although that is very cheap.

good wrap from what ive seen, ive a few rolls from last year still here. I know a few baler men using it themselves so mustn't be too much wrong with it.

Yes, I've had no problems with silotite. We normally get silotite, silawrap or volac topwrap and have had no issues with any of them.

Site box for 110 Euro in Homebase. Quality is questionable for a site box but it would make a perfect chemical store.
