If you have an existing mobile phone number with a provider other than Lycamobile/Vodafone you can walk in to a Vodafone store with this voucher and you can purchase the phones at the prices mentioned provided you switch from your current provider to Vodafone. Looking at the small print you also need to topup by €20 at the time of purchase.

The phones are likely locked to Vodafone and so will only accept a Vodafone SIM until they are unlocked.

You have to have a Clubcard with them to receive it in the post. If you don't have one perhaps a friend has received one they are not going to use.

Does anyone know if you get a new prepay sim from meteor can you port it over to Vodafone straight away or do you have to have spent a certain amount of credit? My dad is already a Vodafone prepay customer but would love to get this phone

All the voucher Barcodes are the same

You can get a SIM from any provider except Lycamobile and use the number to port over. Shouldn't be any need to have topped up or spent a certain amaount.

Once you get the phone you can use any Vodafone SIM in it but the €70 top up credit will only go to the ported number.

You could port your dads number to Meteor (or whoever) and then port back immediately AFAIK.

Just be aware that they usually call the number being ported to check it's an active number or if your buying online they send a code by text IIRC.

What you should do is get a 48 sim, use that sim to get ported over to Vodafone, you have to top up by 20 euro first and 10 will then be added sometime after, you have to top. You have to top up by 20 euro every month to get 10 euro free credit, max 70 euro to be got

Here is the trick, with vodafone you can send credit from vodafone number to another, max is 40 euro i think in 8 days, by texting "send (your dads number) 20" if you want to send 20 euro.

Doing it this way your Dad will get to keep his own number.

Anyone see anywhere unlock codes can be got online can't find any on ebay?

There's no mention in the Ts & Cs but I'd imagine the €70 free credit would be along the lines of €10 each month you top-up by €20 as with previous such offers.

Perhaps Vodafone assumed that Lyca were the only free SIM providers and didn't want people taking advantage in just getting the free SIM and immediately switching.

Would appreciate one as well if any one has one they are not using, the mother has value club card but didn't get voucher, it would suit her looking for a new phone.

It's never €70 in one go. They usually spread it out over six months or so.

"Dunnes Stores Pay As You Go Switching Offer Terms & Conditions
    Offer Ends: May 31st 2017
The Dunnes stores voucher entitles you to €70 off the Samsung J3 and €70 off the Huawei Y5II subject to the following terms and conditions:
The offer is only available for those switching from another provider to Vodafone pay as you go with a valid voucher and an active sim before the 31st May 2017. Offer excludes Lyca customers.
Eligibility for this offer is determined by Vodafone in accordance with these terms and conditions.
This voucher offer can only be redeemed in a Vodafone store. This cannot be redeemed online or via phone.
Offer is subject to €20 top up at time of purchase.
Offer limited to the Samsung J3 and the Huawei Y5II subject to stock availability.
    Only one voucher per customer.
This cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
Promotional vouchers cannot be used retrospectively, i.e. applied to phones already purchased.
Voucher is not exchangeable for cash and is non-refundable.
No reissue or reimbursement for any lost or void voucher.
We reserve the right at our absolute discretion to vary, delete or add to any of these Terms and Conditions and/or substitute or replace the Voucher with another product or program of equivalent value from time to time without any prior notice.

Which is what I assume but there's nothing actually in the terms and conditions to that effect so one could legitimately expect to get it all in one go.

It'd be useful to hear from someone who's actually availed of the offer to hear what they've been told on the €70 free credit.

Asked on online chat for clarification in whether you get the €70 in one go. Was told no. You need to top up at time of purchase and the six following months. When pushed to show me where it said that in the terms and conditions, he smartly told me it was clearly there, pointing out that it says a top up of €20 is needed at time of purchase. I then pointed out that's not the same thing but it was like talking to a wall. He even tried to tell me that I was failing to see a * on the page. when I looked again there was still no *.

Really don't know whether to believe him or not because everything else coming out of his mouth was wrong.

  • Moderators, Regional South Moderators Posts: 5,897 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quackster

Yeah, last time I took advantage of one of these Vodafone Dunnes offers was the Smart 4 Turbo for €29.99 that came with €20 credit without mention of a topup being required.

However, I remember a lot of people at the time being forced to buy a €20 topup at time of purchase (not me though) and also the 'free' credit was not automatically added - I had to go chasing after them for it.

Haven't actually topped that number up yet but was told in store that it's staggered.so every time you top up by 20€ you get 10€, obviously then for the 7 times this happens. Designed I guess to keep you topping up by the 20

Slightly misleading advertising so. The flyer should state "up to 70euro topup" instead. Ah well it still may be use to some.
