Hi all just wondering if any of ye have experience in some good exercise to increase my sprint speed. I play hurling and find I am not able to keep up with guys when they run at me. I recently had some hamstring problems which have slowed me down. I am doing a lot of glute activation work and hamstring rehabilitation. I just am wondering is there some good exercises I am missing like wall drills etc are they good? Apologies if I am posting in the wrong forum

There is defo people who can provide a better answer but ill give my opinion and what worked for me as I was in a similar position. There is a number of ways to increase your sprint speed.

The first thing I did was try and drop body fat.

Secondly continue with the glute and hamstring work but try and build strength in those areas. Try RDLs if your hamstrings are fully rehabilitated and Glute raises with the barbell.

Finally, Hill sprints did wonders for me. To get better at sprinting you have to practice it so keep at it.

Wall drills are great for drilling technique which will in turn make you faster if you feel like your technique is off or if you have ever been told so.

Thanks for the reply appreciate it. Just started some barbell work for glutes actually played a game last week and was definitely faster (mainly due to my hamstring problems being gone). So I think I can keep increasing speed and will incorporate rdls into my gym sessions. Thanks again
