With the first pick in the 2017 Boards NFL Mock Draft the Cleveland Browns select:

Myles Garrett, Defensive End, Texas A&M

I don't think too many people will be shocked by this pick. The Browns need a QB, but with no obvious first pick talent at that position and a later pick in the round, even Cleveland are not capable of missing on this pick.

Garrett is a once-in-a-generation talent. He's 6'4", 272lbs, with a 4.64 dash. But he was projected here long before the combine, having amassed 32.5 career sacks and 48.5 tackles for loss with the Aggies. He is a machine, capable of blasting through blockers, but with the speed to go round them also. That makes him extremely versatile and extremely dangerous. The Browns appear to be on a can't miss trajectory here.

    With the second pick of the 2017 Boards NFL mock drat the San Francisco 49er's select;
    Malik Hooker, Safety, Ohio State

San Francisco 49ers are in the unenviable position of having a terrible roster and they still can’t get value for their pick at no.2. The 31st offense and 32nd defense from last year needs a lot of work, particularly in the passing game and defending the run.
49er’s have 10 picks in 2017 so they will be busy throughout the 3 days. Ideally they would trade up and get Garett or trade back to pick 7-10 and get better value. Players considered were Jonathan Allen (shoulder issue meant no), Reuben Foster (too high), Derek Barnett (too high), Deshaun Watson (too high), Jamal Adams (personal preference).

    The Pick:
While not the biggest need I am going with the best value pick and the player that I consider has the highest ceiling and that is Malik Hooker, Safety out of Ohio State.
A one year starter for the buckeyes Hooker displays good size and the athleticism to be able to cover the width of the field from the centre of the secondary. He has exceptional speed and is a playmaker with 7 interceptions, three returned for TDs. His instincts are already above most and the more game time he gets the better they will become.
He has some issues with missed tackles but he is getting in the position to make the play and his one season of production is enough for me to feel that this guy will be a building block for a defense.
The pick was between Jamal Adams and Hooker and with the 49er’s in re-build mode I wanted to choose the player who I thought would be better in 3 years time, Hooker has the talent to be that guy.

Next on the clock is Higgins J and the Chicago Bears

With the 3rd pick of the draft the Chicago Bears select

OJ Howard - TE - Alabama

So have I lost leave of my senses? Well, probably, but hear me out before calling for the men in white coats.

Jamal Adams was going to be the pick but I have talked myself into Howard for a few reasons.

The Bears have just invested a significant amount in Mike Glennon and you want to give him a chance to succeed. With Alshon Jeffrey gone the cupboard is not exactly overflowing with play making talent at wide receiver, Kevin White is verging towards being a bust. With no WR worth taking at this spot and the team being set at RB then Howard is the top offensive player available.

Doesn't have a tonne of production at college level but that can easily be but down to the system. He is 6ft 6, 250lbs and runs a 4.51 40. He is a freak athlete in every sense of the word. He has been brilliant on occasion, the 2015 College Championship game stands out.

I'm not a fan of Watson or Trubisky in this draft and it is too early for Kizer & Mahomes to be off the board.

Worst case scenario is Glennon is a bust and they draft a QB next year but at least that guy will have a star to work with.

Pudsy33 & the Jaguars are up next.

With the 4th pick of the draft the Jacksonville Jaguars select...

    jacksonville-jaguars_416x416.jpg

    Leonard Fournette- RB- LSU

The Jaguars have had an impressive offseason to date, with signings like Calais Campbell and AJ Bouye beefing up what was already a decent defense. The offense has not received the same attention thus far, and it'll be necessary to use the draft to pick up some new weapons for Blake Bortles.

Fournette is the first of these, and what a weapon he is. In his freshman season he wracked up 1000 all purpose yards, and followed this up with almost double that number (and 22 touchdowns) in his sophomore year. Injury limited him to only 7 days last season, but this should not scare the Jags away from taking him at 4.

Fournette's strengths are his rare mix of physical size and speed. He has the pace to beat defenders on the outside and run in long range TDs, but is also big enough to be handed the ball in those short and goal situations. Add to this some amazing agility and ability to make defenders miss, he'll prove a nightmare for linebackers and safeties in any situation. He's also a willing blocker, and a decent pass-catcher out of the back field too.

The only question marks are over his long term durability, given his injury concerns in college, and perhaps a lack of patience in letting running lanes develop.

With the 5th pick via the LA Rams, the Tennessee Titans select

Mike Williams WR out of Clemson
    usatsi_9607720.jpg?w=200&h=200&crop=1

Standing 6'3 and 225 lbs, Mike Williams is a true #1 big body receiver. Not best with blazing speed but can make the moves he needs, he can jump and protect the ball. The Titans need someone to lead their two tier 2 WR's and be the focal point for Mariota.

This was a tough pick, Lattimore was in consideration but I believe this draft is deep enough to pick up a good CB either with #18 or later.

    Adrian is on the clock

With the 6th pick of the 2017 of the NFL draft the New York jets select....

    hqdefault.jpg

There are many weaknesses on the Jets roster. QB is the elephant in the room but as you've already in this draft there is no sure fire prospect at that position. I think Watson is the best of them but I also think the Jets can find a better option in Free Agency or a stop gap until 2018.

The other weakness that is worth looking at is the offensive line. But guess what Jets fans? O-Line is as weak as QB in this draft. So it's best player available for me.

The Jets are in need of help in the secondary and Lattimore is the best prospect at Corner Back in this draft.

He's had his injury issues and but nothing that should scare teams away. Great athlete, Voted first team All-Big 10, Targeted 35 times this season and credited with 14 passes defensed, including four interceptions.

One concern is his 1 year of starting experience but given a little time to adjust I feel the Jets are getting there Revis replacement right here.

With the 7th pick of the boards.ie 2017 NFL Draft the San Diego.... Uh I mean the Los Angeles Chargers select:

    dak-prescott-ncaa-football-alabama-mississippi-state.jpg

    url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjK6N6dkoDTAhUBIMAKHZiFCvEQjRwIBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.espn.com%2Fcollege-football%2Fteam%2F_%2Fid%2F333%2Falabama-crimson-tide&psig=AFQjCNEsMT283XwoJzv0z38F_Y-zYiyC7g&ust=1491029054686088

    Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama

Allen is a beast across the line, inside and out. Technically very good against the run and pass. Granted he is playing with exceptional talent all across the line at Alabama, but he looked the pick of them, racking up 10.5 sacks last year to go with an exceptional 12 sacks his Junior year. Allen shows good footwork and excellent hands, but lacks the bulk to deal with bigger linemen inside. But with all the other skills that he possesses, Allen will bulk up with the Chargers and go on to form a fearsome partnership with Joey Bosa.

The Chargers kind of suck all over, so there were plenty of places to improve. I really wanted Malik Hooker, but with him off the board and Allen still available, it was an easy choice.
I considered going for Deshaun Watson as well, with Rivers pushing on and a Franchise starting in a new city, the Chargers will want to make a big splash. A DLineman is not a sexy pick, but it's one that could make them a serious threat to any OLine, including the Raiders.

    Carolina%20Panthers-600x315.png

    With the eight pick of the 2017 Boards NFL mock draft The Carolina Panthers select;
Davlin Cook, Running Back, Ohio State

It was either cornerback or running back for me here. Panthers are somewhat fortunate that two of their biggest needs are also the two positions with the greatest depth in this years draft.

With Lattimore off the board, I feel Cook is the right fit here for Carolina, and with that depth at CB that I mentioned, I think they can still take a corner in round 2 and be very happy with their draft.

Despite the combine really improving McCaffrey's stock, I still think there's a top two in the RB class, and that's Fournette and Cook. Cook's combine might not have blown people away, but the production at Florida State and the need for Panthers make this a worthy top 8 selection, for me.

In 2016, he ran for 1,765 yards, 19TDs at 6.0 yards a carry. Factor in 33 receptions for 488 yards, he can be a three down back for the Panthers, which they definitely with Stewart on his last legs.

Next on the clock is D9Male and The Cincinnati Bengals

With the 9th pick of the boards.ie mock draft, the Cincinatti Bengals select...

    (drumroll)

Solomon Thomas - DE - Stanford

    Rationale

Just 18 months ago, the general consensus was that the Bengals had one of the more complete rosters in the NFL. Depth up front on both sides of the ball. Weapons on offence and playmakers on defence. If their QB could only improve a bit, they were legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Well guess what? Their QB did take a step forward, and they are now picking in the first round of the draft for the first time since they drafted AJ Green in 2011. Weirdly, considering where the roster has been for the last few years, picking for the Cincinatti Bengals is easy enough in a way. They have so many needs (offensive line, running back, edge rusher, secondary, linebacker) that taking the best player available is really the way to go here.

Some interesting picks so far have meant that a real diamond could have fallen into my lap here, and it just so happens to be in an area of significant need for the Bengals. I also like taking a QB or edge rusher in the top 10 picks, as these are the real valuable positions in football. Much as I would have loved to have picked DeShaun Watson to put the cat among the pigeons, I have to go with the best talent on the board, and a player that is mocked as high as #2 in many drafts, Indeed, looking across the nfl.com draft experts and Walterfootball.com he has an average ranking of 2.2. Quite simply, this is a no-brainer for the Cincinatti FO if he is still on the board when they pick at #9.

I admit that I have only really become aware of this guy leading up to the combine, but he seems to tick all the boxes for a future star. He is versatile, he has the numbers from college and there seem to be no character issues. At the combine, he ran a 4.69 second 40-yard dash, completed 30 reps in the bench press, had a 35.0 inch vertical jump, a 10'6" broad jump, finished the 3-cone drill in 6.95 seconds and the 20-yard shuttle in 4.28 seconds. He also measured as 6'2", 273 pounds, had 9 3/8" hands, 33" arms and a 78 7/8" wingspan.

He seems to be adept against the run and the pass Last year for Stanford he had 10 sacks, 12 hits and 22 hurries on 394 pass-rush snaps and he was PFF’s #1 lineman versus the run.

    Bish bash bosh.

    The Buffalo Bills select.......

    John Ross WR Washington

    9657284-john-ross-ncaa-football-washington-california.jpg

I think everybody is aware that Buffalo need another premium wide receiver to help out Sammy Watkins and with this pick they are getting that.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gnz6MPmtp4E

John Ross came back for an ACL injury in 2015 and exploded with 81 receptions for 1150 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was the Associated Press Pac 12 player of the year. The scouts took notice and thought 'this guy is really good'. They had him down as one of the three best WR's in this class. Then the combine happened and if you haven't heard well let me inform you that John Ross broke the combine record for the 40 yard dash with a ridiculous 4.22 seconds.

He can play in the slot or out wide as a deep threat. He is a very good route runner and he turns very quickly and rarely gets collared by the first man and he doesn't need much space to be just gone before you know what happened. He is so fast that defenders can't stay with him if he cuts unless they guess right. He can also line up in the backfield and explode. People might not like his size but it really doesn't matter because they can't get near him. He is going to be a top wide receiver in the NFL and when he snags a couple of touchdowns it's just going to open up things for his teammates. Having John Ross is going to mean the Buffalo Bills are very hard to stop with Sammy Watkins, Charles Clay and Corey Brown going to benefit significantly from their new colleague.

With the 11th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft,

    logo.png

    The New Orleans Saints select.....

    Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee

    derek-barnett-tennessee.jpg

Came out of his Junior year in college with 56 tackles with 19 for a loss, 13 sacks, two forced fumbles, five passes broken up and one interception. On many boards as a top 5 DE going into the draft with a lot of upside. Good strong college career he knows to stay low and drive any blocker out of his way and he know how to stay in the "Football Position" which gives him solid ability to chase down opposing QBs and to track the football. Good solid awareness he has great potential and the Saints won go wrong by pulling on the trigger for him given its one of their needs.

With the 12rh pick in the 2017 draft, the Cleveland Browns select...

    Mitchell Trubrisky, Quarterback, North Carolina.

The Browns need a quarterback, and with two picks inside the first round, one had to be spent here, regardless of further free agency moves the team may make at the position. Trubisky is the most pro-ready QB in the draft, with scouts praising his size, his arm, and his mobility.

Whilst he would benefit from learning behind a veteran QB for a season if possible (in particular reading defenses and blitzes), Trubisky could start and start well for the Browns this season. His mobility is a big plus.

For a team who is building solidly on defense, with further picks coming up that can address WR and TE in a draft with depth at those positions, and in need of stability at QB above all else, Trubisky is a solid pick at 12.

    With the thirteenth pick of the 2017 Boards NFL mock draft The Arizona Cardinals select;
Patrick Mahomes II, Quarter back, Texas Tech Red Raiders, #5,
    6' 3" and 215 lb

In a surprising move and defying conventional wisdom of getting the best player available for now I have given the cards their QB of the future. With an older core of players in Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald who are coming very close to the end its time to provide the younger generation of David Johnson and the defensive stalwarts of Patrick Peterson and Deone Buchanon someone to help build the franchise around.

Mahomes is a player who is not ready to start right now and needs to spend some time behind a veteran and improve his game. Three teams are currently looking for a player to groom to replace their franchise quarterback and who have already held private workouts with the player. They are the Saints, who have two picks in the first round, the steelers (god knows what big ben is doing and Landry jones is not the best player to replace him) and the cardinals.

Bruce arians has been looking to draft a quarter back for the last three years and now is the time for him to do so. Mahomes is not the best QB right now but of this class he could be the best of the lot and this is why the Cards should select him and effectively red shirt him behind Palmer so he can can continue to improve his footwork and playing under center. This would ensure that when Palmer steps down that you have a QB who is ready to step in and take on the mantel of franchise quarter back.

Mahomes is a guy who has improved his numbers each year and threw 4.5k+ yards under the Texas Tech air raid offense in the last two years whilst also providing a dual threat and running in TD's when needed. He has spent the spring working on all of his bad points and thus should appeal to any NFL head coach. Whilst everyone should note that he has the long ball down and all the arm strength that an NFL QB requires, a year behind Plamer should help him develop the touch and poise that is needed.

I'm going to say it now Mahomes could be this classes Dak Prescott.

Next on the clock is lionbacker and The Philadelphia Eagles

With the 14th pick in the 2017 Boards NFL mock draft the Philadlephia Eagles select:

    philadelphia_eagles_logo_4008.png

    Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama

    56951cb9a937c.image.jpg?resize=500%2C676

Admittedly, I would have probably gone Sidney Jones had he not destroyed his Achilles tendon, so Marlon Humphrey is the next best prospect at a position the Eagles desperately need some help at. They've cut Leodis McKelvin & lost Nolan Carroll to the Cowboys & neither were that great to begin with.
So Humphrey is the choice. He is a two year starter on the imposing Crimson Tide defence. In 2016 he recorded 33 tackles with two tackles for loss, two interceptions and five pass breakups. He is fast, physical and tall, all traits scouts are looking for in CB's, so he fit right in here.

Brinty is back on the clock for the Colts

    indianapolis-colts.png

With the 15th pick in the 2017 Boards NFL Mock Draft the Indianapolis Colts select:

    Christian McCaffrey, Running Back, Standford, #5, 6' 0, 92kg

McCaffrey comes from a royal family of NFL players of which several generations have been plying their trade and Christian is the next and possibly best of the lot. McCaffrey came to the attention of many during the 2015 when he finished runner up in the heismann voting behind Derrick Henry and ahead of DeShaun Watson and should've conceivably won the award, whilst also winning the AP Player of the year award. He lit up the Pac-12 in 2015 where he broke several records as a runner, slot receiver and returner and in the rose bowl became the first player to have a over 100 yards rushing and receiving and finished with 368 all purpose yards. During the season he smashed Barry Sanders record for all purpose yards of 3,250 yards by 600 yards finishing with 3,864.

His 2016 season was wrecked by injuries but he still managed to put up some good numbers and and led the Pac-12 again in all purpose ayrds including a 284 yards rushing game against Cal. In December he announced he would not play in Stanfords bowl game in preparation of the upcoming NFL draft which he had declared for as a junior.

After 3 season with Stanford he finished just shy of 7,000 all purpose yards and 33 TD's

He is being picked by the Colts to help them replace the aging and almost lumbering Frank Gore and to help Andrew Luck in the backfield. With his ability to play in the slot he serves as a dual threat purpose. He also not afraid to block which helps any modern running backs stock and put in some big blocks during the 2016 season.

With many predicting he doesn't get past john Elway and Denver, the colts get him much earlier and deny another AFC rival of a much coveted commodity

    With the 16th pick of the 2017 Boards NFL mock drat the Baltimore Ravens select;

    Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin

The Ravens brought in FAs to fill some voids at S and CB so the big weaknesses on the roster are WR, OLB and OL.

They lost their first choice C, RG and RT and while this is a below par draft class they have the opportunity to take the top player at the position.

The Ravens go OT in the first round for the second year in a row and protect Joe Flacco until the end of his career. With Ozzie Newsomes love of Alabama players i considered Cam Robinson but i think Ramczyk is the superior player who has all the skills to be a starting LT in the league.
Ramczyk is inexperienced having only been a 1 year starter but he has displayed all the necessary skills and as he develops and gets more experience he will only get better.

The Ravens have a lot of re-building on the o-line and Ramczyk fills a big need at a crucial position

With the 19th pick in the 2017 Boards NFL Mock Draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select:

    Joe Mixon, Running Back, Oaklahoma

I'm sitting here in the war room looking at my team needs and matching it up with what's left on the board and the class as a whole. Man we have a lot of defensive players out there. God Doug Martin is struggling and there has already been a run on running backs.

Im here at 19 with 3 gone off the board already and possibly the best of the bunch staring me in the face. Can i put up with the media backlash? I mean it will be severe, but this is tampa, not New York or LA.

Damit starting defensive players can be found in the 5th round of this draft. Im pulling the trigger on this, queue the backlash.

    With the 20th pick of the 2017 Boards NFL mock draft, the Denver Broncos' select;
    Reuben Foster, Inside Linebacker, Alabama

    7_3961424.jpg

John Elway does it again. Denver picks up a top 5 player in this years class by staying put at 20. While the OL could do with some more competition to sure it up, The Broncos' couldnt turn down the chance to draft such a special player. Foster would immediately help address the two weakest parts of Denver’s albeit great defense: stopping the run and defending tight ends and running backs in the passing game.

With the 21st pick in the NFL mock draft the Detroit Lions select

    636215536993483811-Lions-mark-RGB.jpg

    Haason Reddick, OLB , Temple

    Tim+Boyle+Haason+Reddick+Connecticut+v+Temple+zbRHskHlKCfl.jpg

The draft so far has almost all been offensive and the Lions GM was hoping a defensive stud would slide down to 21

The Lions play a 4-3 and there were some intriguing DE and DT's out there. Michigan player Taco Charlton would have been a popular pick at DE but the risk of a bust puts the GM off

Last seasons starters Josh Bynes and Deandre Levy are free agents and this is a position of need. Reddick has excellent coverage skills allowing only 8 completions out of 22 targets and also had an interception. In today's NFL with an emphasis on Tight Ends and also backs taking short passes these coverage skills are valuable

Reddick is 6'2" 237 lbs and while he plays in a 3-4 in college and has good pass rushing with 9.5 sacks his senior year I'd be asking the coaches to transition him to a 4-3 will linebacker. He'll still do pass rushing duties but also will be utilizing coverage skills against the likes of Kyle Rudolph and Jared Cook.

I think this pick brings a fast young player into a postion of need and he can enter the season as a starter. He can rush the passer, work in coverage and stop the run, everything I need from a linebacker

    miami-dolphins.png

    With the twenty second pick of the 2017 Boards NFL mock draft The Miami Dolphins select;
    Zach Cunningham, Linebacker, Vanderbilt

The Dolphins may have secured veteran linebacker, Lawrence Timmons, in free agency, allowing them to move Kiko Alonso to outside linebacker, but I feel the opportunity to add someone of the calibre of Cunningham to the mix is too big for them to turn down with the 22nd pick here.

Koa Misia's health is a concern, and Jelani Jenkins seems unlikely to return, and question marks will always hover over the durability of Kiko Alonso. For this reason, even with the ageing Cameron Wake coupled with the loss of Vernon in last year's free agency, I think Cunningham could be a perfect fit for this Miami Defense.

Capable of playing outside or inside linebacker, although probably projecting best as either the Sam or Will backer for Miami, Cunningham excels in coverage and is a thumping down hill tackler.

With 16.5 tackles for loss in 2015, 4.5 sacks, three passes batted and four forced fumbles on the year to go with a total of 103 tackles, Cunningham followed it up with a similarly productive statline in 2016: 125 tackles with 16.5 for a loss, three passes batted and two forced fumbles.

This man will certainly bring a lot of production, youth and energy to this linebacking corps and defence in general.

    From Walter Football:
For the NFL, Cunningham does everything well and there isn't a serious weakness in his game. His run defense covers sideline to sideline with the quickness to track down ball-carriers. Cunningham has very good instincts and is very good at reading his keys and exploding through the scrum to take down backs. He is big enough to defend against downhill runs coming straight at him.

Phat Kev and The New York Football GIANTS are on the clock. No Pressure, Kev :p

With the 23rd pick of the 2017 Boards.ie Mock Draft, the New York Giants select

    Cam Robinson-Offensive Tackle-Alabama

    16188762-standard.jpg

There was a few different position I felt the Giants could go with this pick. Linebacker was a position I'd have liked to upgrade, but with Foster and Cunningham of the board I didn't think there was value to be had.

Tight End was another option with someone like Njoku, but I felt there is enough talent at TE that the giants could address the need later in the draft.

So I went with o-line help because Eli's not getting any younger, and while the Giants built one of the best WR cores in the league, it won't matter who's catching passes if Eli cant get protection!
Current Left Tackle Flowers who was also a 1st round pick has had massive struggles in his first two seasons as a pro. Maybe a move to guard or right tackle might help him out in the long run? But another question that needs to be answered is whether or not Flowers' technique and mechanics can even be fixed at all! So I'm getting them some much needed help on the o-line.

If you were to draw up the perfect body for an offensive lineman, it might look a lot like Robinson who stands at 6'6 and 320lbs. As a pass protector he's improved with each year at Bama, he has shown he can defend the edge and has quick enough feet to cut off speed rushers. He's has also shown he's a quality blocker in the ground game. He's shown he could keep up with the best the SEC has to offer by having good games against 1st round picks like Myles Garret and Dereck Barrnet, and speed rushers like Deatrich Wise Jr.
Balance issues and inconsistencies as a pass protector are a concern. There are also some red flags which arose when he was arrested at closed park in Robinson's hometown of Monroe, Louisiana on troubling drug and weapons charges.

While the Giants did sign D.J. Fluker in FA, he's apparently set to play right guard and not tackle. So I've taken Robinson, kicked Flowers over to the right side, and set up the Giants to move forward with a fully upgraded offensive front.

  • With the 24th pick the Oakland raiders select Jabrill Peppers

I was tempted beyond belief to select Corey Davis and set up the offence from hell for opposition teams but this team has its stars on the offensive side its time to build up the defense.

Peppers has all the physical tools you could want. Hes fast and fluid. The big question is does he have it upstairs. Peppers has not shown that he has football instincts. It could be argued that he is the exact opposite of what honey badger was a few years ago.

As a gm I'm taking the best player available and I need to trust my coaching staff to develop peppers with this good coaching and one position be it linebacker or as a replacement for nelson at safety (again up to the coaching staff)

over the years "tweeners" have again and again been proved to be matchup nightmares in the nfl. Peppers is going to be side by side with kahlil as all stars in the sin city raiders defence

Pretty straight forward pick for the texans here, We plan on starting Tom Savage much like rams did with Case Keenum, But we are drafting a qb, With that being said with the 25th pick the Houston Texans Draft
    deshaun-watson.jpg
    QB Dashaun Watson

Normally he shouldnt of had a slide this far but with recent off the field issue has clearly scared off other gms and coaches, but not Texans who are crying out for a qb.

Pro's. Comfortable in pocket, can be mobile if needed, Flashes ability to make some beautiful throws, a leader and more importantly a winner,

Weakness, Will have to learn to work over center, makes some questionable throws, already torn an acl, Gets picked a bit too much.

I feel with the right coaching he will have a decent career in the nfl and Texans can't pass up the opportunity to grab him

With the 26th pick of the 2017 NFL Draft the Seattle Seahawks pick Forrest Lamp, OG, Western Kentucky.

Considered by many scouts to be the best o-lineman in the draft Lamp is great value in this spot. There's no doubt what the biggest issue for the Seahawks has been the last few years and getting a plug and play option like Lamp in this spot is great value. The cowboys have shown the rewards that can be had if you focus on the o-line and this really is a match made in heaven.

Lamp is a super versatile prospect who can play all 3 positions on the line but will likely end up at guard or center. Still with o-line being probably the weakest non qb position in this draft the Seahawks will be thrilled to add him to their roster.

One of Lamps biggest plus points is his durability. He played 42 straight games at Western Kentucky and availability is an underrated aspect of draft choices.

Welcome to the Seattle Seahawks Forrest.

With the 27th pick if the NFL draft the Kansas city chiefs select Malik McDowell
    6_4984057.jpg
I'm ignoring the calls to draft a qb to eventually replace Alex Smith because he's actually perfectly serviceable to lead the Kansas offense and at 32 has a good few years left.

Having lost Dontari Poe to free agency McDowell cones into the side to bulk up the defensive front. He's comfortable playing outside and inside on the defensive line. On talent alone many say he is a top ten pick but does he have the work ethic to be the player he can be? The lack of bright lights and distractions in Kansas may be beneficial

With the 28th pick the Dallas Cowboys select

    Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan

The Cowboys have a fantastic O-line, and have set themselves up nicely at RB and QB for the foreseeable future. They have offensive needs, like a TE of the future to replace the ageing Witten. There was a strong WR candidate at this stage in Corey Davis but his injury concerns gave me pause for a team that should be pushing toward a SB in the next couple of years.

At defense the needs are more pressing, and Charlton will help put pressure on opposing QBs. Cowboys might need help in their secondary as well at the moment, but frankly if you have someone who can keep the QB under persistent pressure, you are already helping your secondary. Charlton is tall (6'6"), with a 4.92 40 yard at 277lbs. Could be better against the run but he will keep the pocket unstable. Could have went with Tim Williams here but while his character concerns might not bother Jerry Jones, they would bother me if I was a few pieces away from a serious shot at the title.

With the 29th pick of the nfl draft the green bay packers select
    Green_Bay_Packers_logo_svg_zps9medmibg.png

Corey Davis, wide receiver, Western Michigan.

At the 29th pick Davis is the best player available, its not a particular need for the packers but a future replacement when Jordy retires, but a top 10 player like Davis shouldn’t slide into the second round and can’t be missed out on. His stats are off the charts, 4 year starter with a total of over 5000 yards receiving yards and 53 td, stands at 6ft 3 and over 200lbs can play perimeter or in the slot has good hands and is a good route runner. Only negative is there is no outcome of his ankle surgery yet and doesn’t have elite speed but all the other positives outweigh the negatives.

Other options for this pick were Takkarist McKinley, whom is a speed rush guy and is like clay matthews but is poor against the run, I would prefer a better balance for an edge rusher. Quincy wilson was also another choice for this pick but again I feel that corner back group is deep and good value could be achieved in the second.

Finally, rodgers is in the shot gun with bennett on the edge of the line and Jordy and adams on the perimeters and davis and cobb in the slot, is scary.

With the 30th pick in the 2017 NFL Boards Mock Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select:

    TJ WATT, LB WISCONSIN

I was tempted to grab a corner-back here with plenty still on the table, but seeing as Old Man Harrison probably only has another 10-15 years left (:P) I decided to grab an explosive pass-rusher.

TJ has plenty of pedigree, joining his two older brothers in the NFL. He is technically excellent and quick off the edge. 2016 was a massive year for him for the Badgers, with 63 tackles, 11.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception returned for a touchdown.

Standing at 6-5 and weighing nearly 250 pounds, Watt has the ideal size for the linebacker position. He could do with adding a few more pounds to compete with NFL-level tackles, but his excellent combine makes me comfortable taking him here.

With the 31st pick of the 2017 Boards.ie Mock Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select

    Tim Williams-Linebacker-Alabama

    C1xZo25VIAAY6zg.jpg

Heading into the draft the only really pressing needs the Falcons have is at guard and pass rusher, I decided to go with the latter. Last year Atlanta improved their pass rushing no end, rising from No. 32 in the NFL in sacks in 2015 up to No. 16. However, almost all of that increase in production came from second-year outside linebacker Vic Beasley, who led the league with 15.5 sacks.
Adding another pass rush monster alongside Beasley could create the possibility of bringing the whole Atlanta defence up another level. A front 7 which included Williams, Beasley, Poe, Jarrett and Dion Jones would give QBs nightmares all season long!

Williams main strength is his quickness, he is so fast coming off the line that he's often gets past linemen before they even realise it. Williams is also so deceptively strong and had no problem bull rushing much bigger opponents.

One weakness that scouts continually bring up is his lack of football IQ and if he's asked to do anything other than rush the passer he struggles. But I think Dan Quinn can use him the same way he used Bruce Irvin in Seattle, that is, get to the QB and when he just has this to do he's really good!

I think the main reason Williams fell this far is because of major red flags which include being arrested for possession of weed and fire arms, so the Falcons are taking a major risk. If it pays off they get a disruptive pass rusher like Bruce Irvin, but if it doesn't they could have the next Randy Gregory on their hands

With the 32nd pick of the 2017 nfl draft the New Orleans Saints select DB Kevin King.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AVK0HqZ1bE

    6'3 200lbs with 4.43 speed, 6.56 3cone & a 39.5 inch vert. What more could you possibly want from a DB.
He's versatile enough to play the boundary or slot CB role but could also find himself a starting Safety at either position in the Nfl.
Only allowed 1 Td in his last 101 targets, the man seems to have it all however he'll need to get physically stronger as his tackling form is a bit weak for a man his size.

With the 32nd pick in the 2017 draft, the Cleveland browns select Adoree' Jackson, CB, USC.

Having taken the best player available to shore up defence at no. 1 and moving to address the QB question at 12, it's time to address the porous secondary.

He's a dynamic player that had a great Combine and won the 2016 Jim Thorpe award as the nation’s best corner.

He also has the ability to work well on special teams which is a bonus.

With the 35th pick of the 2017 Boards NFL draft the Jacksonville Jaguars select
    Dan Feeney. G, Indiana

The Jags have an incredible amount of talent on the roster. In the first round they took Leonard Fournette to take the pressure off Bortles and with this pick they provide support for both of these players and fill an area of need.
Dan Feeney is a powerful Guard who was twice first team All-American. Due to injuries he had to start four games at RT this year and while that is not his best position he was serviceable. The Jags draft him as a guard and at that position he will provide a reliable pass protector that should give Bortles time to settle. In the run game he is naturally strong but his technique can be improved.
This is a bit of a reach as Feeney is likely available later in the second but the Jags need to get Bortles as much help as possible and Feeney does that more than any other player available at this point

With the 36th pick in the 2017 Boards NFL Mock Draft the Chicago Bears select:

Obi Melifonwu, Safety, University of Connecticut, #20, 6' 4, 224lb

With the Chicago Bears pick of OJ Howard in round one they now address their most pressing needs and adding help in their secondary. With the whole secondary lacking in big names, they take Melifonwu, who's a very big man for a safety at 6'4"

Obi becomes the latest London born player and former UConn safety to join the ranks of the NFL following in the footsteps of former team mate Byron "Jump" Jones. The similarities are quite startling and Melifonwu matched or better almost all of Jones efforts at the recent combine. The fact he's a former high school long and triple jumper would have helped in his in the Broad and vertical jumps. He also played running back in High school and as a fun fact he contributed 17 touchdowns and 10 two point conversions

In a stellar college career with UConn which he redshirted in his first year of eligability he started almost every game thereafter and finished with 48 games played, 351 tackles including 224 solo tackles. He contributed 11 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 16 passes defended. With eight interceptions over the 4 seasons without returning any for touchdowns. He finished his 2016 season as a first team all american in the AAAC team.

His rare combination of size, length and athleticism have some NFL scouts tabbed as their under the radar draft prospect for this year. If he falls this far Chicago would do worse than taking him here.

Also in consideration at this point were Budda Baker, Tre'davious White, Quincy Wilson and Teez Tabor

Next on the clock are the San Diego/ Los angeles Chargers and Benson Brief Bowler

  • With the 37th pick in the draft the LA Rams selected Tre'Davious White

You can never have to many corners and this draft looks like the best cornerback draft in years it would be silly not to take the cbs that inevitably fall. In White I believe we have a guy who is as safe a pick at corner as anyone in the draft. He is a very solid man corner who's weakness in the run game should be hidden by the great front 7 the rams have

With the 38th pick in the draft the LA Chargers choose

    Dion Dawkins, OG, Temple

I know very little about the chargers but what I do know is their offensive line is catastrophic. Dawkins is the 3rd ranked guard in the draft class and the best available at the position at this point. Watching his videos on youtube, he has spent a lot of time at tackle as well on both sides of the line, and in the current situation for the Chargers that versatility will be valuable. Most think he will probably work out pretty well at guard, but some doubt his ability to play tackle at an NFL level (NFL draft profile begs to differ but the general consensus is he's "just" a guard). So...as a guard, he provides excellent blocking, serious upper body athleticism to bully opponents. In a poor OL draft class, he is a good addition, probably not a bargain at this stage in the draft but certainly wouldn't be overvalued here.

    With the 39th pick of the 2017 Boards NFL mock draft The New York Jets select;
    David Njoku, Tight End, Miami

Jets have needs all over the park, so when you can't trade down, best player available is never more applicable for a team. Right here, I think they are getting great value for a tight end that could go Top 20 on the actual draft night.

Njoku has the physical tools to absolutely dominate, and considering the Jets current QB situation, he can really help ease the load on whatever young QB ultimately takes the reigns there in the next couple of years.

He's a player who from the get go is too fast for linebackers and too big for safeties, so he's an absolute matchup nightmare for defence already, even if he is quite raw. Personally, I think he's better than Ebron who went at number 10 a few years ago, right before Aaron Donald and OBJ.

Will try and add more to this post later when I've time. As for now, next on the clock is scummyman and the Panthers.

With the 40th pick in the Boards NFL Mock Draft, the Carolina Panthers select:

    Garett Bolles, OT, Utah

One word for this guy. Athletic.

Standing at 6'5" and weighing in just under 300 pounds, he moves his feet like a man half his size. Lets be real here, this guy is a top-15 talent, who is dropping to the second round because he is aged 25. I know that is old for a rookie, but he is a plug and play talent, and I personally feel that if you get 5 years of decent to good play from a LT drafted in the second, then that's a success.

Even after giving left tackle Matt Kalil big money, the Panthers' tackle situation isn't ideal, so this pick makes sense for them.

The Cincinnati Bengals and our host tripperman are now on the clock.

Bengals select DE Charles Harris Missouri

Harris is the best player available, he can improve a Bengals pass rush that slowed down last season, he has quick reaction off the snap and very efficient hand use to get past offensive lineman, it's a double dip for Bengals on defensive line, but it's a move that could create the solid foundation for a championship challenge

I've a feeling Eagles fans wouldn't be happy drafting CB's with the first 2 picks in the draft, but I think its a must. They got Humphrey it the 1st, but outside of that the next two CB's on the depth chart are Jalin Miles a 2016 seventh-round draft pick, and Ron Brooks a career backup with the Buffalo Bills who is coming off a ruptured quad tendon. If the Eagles don't draft two cornerbacks within their first three picks, there should be serious questions asked of the front office.

Tabor's poor combine has a lot of people asking questions, but I'd prefer to judge him on his play and every time I've watched him play he's jumped off the tape.
In his three college seasons he has put up ridiculous numbers at cornerback. He has the size and skills to play press man coverage and the playmaking ability to excel in a zone-heavy scheme.

With the 44th Pick of the NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills Select

    yXq1nY.jpg

    Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida.

Back to back picks for the Florida secondary, and the 8th CB taken already. I know the class is deep but this is stretching things.

This is a huge area of need and having added Hyde in the off season this should result in a much improved secondary in 2018. Wilson is 6' 1", 211 pounds and is an aggressive press corner. His style of play is something that may draw more penalties in the NFL and his tackling is not what it should be but he is great against the pass and has gone one on one against the best receivers in the SEC in recent years.

He's drawn comparisons to Byron Maxwell and Aquib Talib.

While he is not a speed merchant he is a solid upgrade in Buffalo and brings with him a confidence that will help him succeed at the next level.

With the 45th pick of the nfl draft
    The Arizona cardinals
Select Raekwon McMillan, inside linebacker, Ohio State

With brinty making a balls of my draft strategy for drafting a qb for the second round, I had to do some research into the cardinals and the biggest thing that jumped out at me is the lack of depth at inside linebacker and Dansby turning 35.
Mcmillan is a sideline to sideline tackling machine with 4.6 speed, good size, good in the tackle box which would be a nice compliment to buchanon and is also good in coverage. Butkas finalized in 2015 with 119 tackles as a sophomore. Good value pick.

With the 46th pick of the 2017 NFL draft the Indianapolis Colts select Takkarist Mckinley from UCLA

The Colts badly need help at the linebacker position and Mckinley fits the bill as a 3-4 outside linebacker with a strong work ethic.

NFL.com on McKinley: "Ascending edge prospect who racked up impressive TFL and sack numbers this year despite a relatively raw approach and skill set. He's a little stiff in his lower body, but flashes good athleticism once the ball is snapped. McKinley's motor is a translatable characteristic, but improved hand usage and pass rush mechanics are what could elevate his game to another level as a starting, 3-4 outside linebacker.

With the 47th pick of the 2017 Boards.ie Mock Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select

JuJu Smith-Schuster- Wide Receiver - USC

The Ravens went o-line in the first round, so I've used the second to get some help at the wide receiver position.
Some teams might pass on Smith-Schuster because he may lack the speed to separate from defenders. But he has some great hands and great body control which has allowed him to make some remarkable catches. While he may not have a first round polish, his production in college speaks for its self and he could turn out to be a steal in the second round for the Ravens

With the 48th pick in the NFL mock draft the Minnesota Vikings select

    Caleb Brantley, Defensive Tackle, Florida

The run on Florida Gators in the 2nd round of the boards mock draft continues at a furious pace.

The Vikings were very unfortunate to lose Sheriff Floyd to injury and not a whole lot of depth behind, only Toby Johnson who is 32 and Shamar Stephen.

Mike Zimmer will be keen to bolster his defensive line and win the battle of the trenches in the NFC North

Brantley is 6'3", 307lbs and was named to the second team all SEC in 2016. Led the gators in tackles for loss with 8.5 in 2016 but he is not just a run stuffer, he had 5.5 sacks over the last two years.

Brantley will play as a 3 technique in a 4-3 scheme and his quickness and athleticism will make an impact.

Compared by some to Aaron Donald, not the skill level obviously but similar kind of player we'll certainly take that in Minnesota. This pick fills a position of need and depending if Floyd returns could be a starter in 2017

The Washington Redskins Select ILB Jarred Davis Florida State Gators,

another back to back taking of Florida player's, after getting LSU Safety Jamal Adams in round one the Redskins go defence again taking Davis a sideline to sideline presence that RBs fear, he's a solid tackler that purses till the play is complete, his injury concerns are possible the reason he fell this far, but with comparison to Ray Lewis he's the leader a defence needs to take and build around, the redskins defensive side of the ball needed help in this draft and with the addition of Adams and Davis this defence has the potential to be greatly improved,
